If they did admissions by how many times you checked your portal a day, I would definitely get accepted. Lol
@fallenchemist those puppies are adorable! thank you for that. nice to have some perspective on the other side
It’s not their fault they have so much work to do!
amen @sadlyoptimistic
FYI, every year around midterms and finals, Tulane does things like bring a petting zoo to campus, and I think they have done this puppy thing for that as well sometimes. Plus there are cats that are like campus pets that live under a couple of the buildings. I am sure Tulane is not unique in doing things like this, but it is nice.
Still waiting here too… Has anyone been rejected or deferred? Or do they send those out at all on 12/15?
@sopranosings They’re not all out on 12/15, but they don’t start until a few days before that date. Tulane does not deny EA, only defer. It looks like no one has been deferred so far.
So I was accepted on Friday and it was definitely a surpirise, and a great one at that. With a W GPA of 3.5 and an SAT of 1790, I thought I was going to be deferred for sure. Luckily, Tulane saw that I have much more to offer through my essays and that I was very interested in the school by applying SCEA and visiting, communicating with my rep, and attending Tulane information meetings. I hope everyone reading this thread keeps their head up. Accepted or deffered you all seem like great people. I hope my story and result is helpful and gives hope to you guys. Roll wave!
re the 20% uptick in apps: it’s also likely due to their being back on board with commonapp. so easy to just add it since no application fee and optional essay.
@lilbno I was also accepted with pretty similar stats and was very surprised considering the size and talent of this year’s applicant pool. . That being said, I agree with you about the demonstrated interest. If I could give advice to anyone applying to Tulane (or any college really), it would be to ALWAYS complete the optional essays.
i think ive given up, i applied in early october so im obviously getting deferred. it just makes me so sad because i know its not a rejection but i really thought i could get in
Has anybody who used the special application been accepted yet? I searched through the thread but I only saw either common app or unspecified.
@bosox281 I really hope that’s the case. I will feel so much better.
@bosox281 @sadlyoptimistic
I was accepted thru the special application about a week ago. Don’t stress tho, my stats were really bad and you guys will definitely get in!
Only on CC are those stats “really bad”.
@fallenchemist okay, cool. Yeah, she’s been an awesome teacher, and she also wrote me my rec letter so I’m hoping that plays into the decision.
@fallenchemist I was accepted to Tulane. If my stats is: 1300/2030 sat, 3.76/4.0 cumulative gpa, did optional essay, many ECs, class rank is n/a, international student, but was only given 27k. Does it mean that it is probably because of my low SAT?
Well, I would quibble with the word “only”, but yes mostly the SAT which is average for Tulane but on the higher side for an international, and the GPA is a bit below the top level awards, generally. At least when you put those together the award seems in line with most.
