ADMISSION DECISIONS FALL 2016 (CLASS OF 2020)

Correct, it is the Honors Program not Honors College. My understanding it that invites go out to those selected for the Presidential and Premier Scholar awards. Regardless, proud dad and happy daughter!

That’s always the best part!

I believe that is correct about who is invited. Should she end up at Tulane (and it sounds like she is excited about the option) then of course all she has to do is opt into the program. Any plans to attend the Top Scholars Weekend in April? @tj1711

Definitely looking to attend Top Scholars in April. It is crazy how fast things changed from being disappoined about being deferred in December to all the great news this week. More reason everyone should stay positive!

tfw the gibson portal becomes the most visited site on your browser…

My admissions counselor sent me a happy birthday letter with her own handwriting haha. I thought was really sweet.

woah, that IS sweet

Congrats to everyone who has been accepted. Wondering if someone can clarify, are the decision that are coming out RD decisions or just people who applied for specific scholarships?

Most seem to be people that applied EA and got deferred. Most of the regular RD are yet to come. Scholarships have nothing to do with it, except that you had to apply EA/SCEA to be eligible for most scholarships that require a separate application.

@Chopinspiano Same, I thought that was awesome.

Hey guys! Just wondering if any of you have gone to a “Tulane Comes to you” event for admitted students? I’m going today and just kinda wanna know the basics/ how long it will be

@treehugger505

About one hour.

Thank you! @fallenchemist

@treehugger505

How was it?

@fallenchemist
Yeah it was great!

@treehugger505 , were you at the one in MA? We went today and it was really nice - big crowd. It lasted 1 1/2 hour . I did think they might have some swag to hand out and was surprised that there wasn’t anything - tshirts, hats or whatever, but it was still a positive event.

@myjanda No, I was at the one in SoCal. But mine also lasted around an hour and a half and I was also expecting some gear!

That is odd. In the past there have always been hats.

My son got a nice hat at a Tulane program, but it was in the fall of his senior year, before most of the students attending had applied. So maybe the swag is just for those preliminary shindigs and not the ones for admitted students.

BUT … if you eventually enroll at Tulane, you will be well rewarded with a lifetime supply of “free” t-shirts. The students seem to get them at all sorts of events (e.g., Outreach Tulane, football games, dorm gatherings … ). I have even been the beneficiary of the overflow and now have a fairly extensive Tulane tee collection myself. My son also came home from Orientation in June with a variety of gear … sunglasses, pens, a drawstring backpack, and more.

So the trick is to actually matriculate, and then you won’t be disappointed, and your wardrobe will be significantly expanded. :slight_smile:

    ]General Comments/Advice/Hindsight: I don’t think I will attend at this point if I get in in the RD pool but I just don’t really get it. A lot of my extremely qualified friends also were deferred from Tulane this year.

Gibson went from “Deferred” to “Pending Review” 2 weeks ago to “Complete and Awaiting Review” yesterday. I am sure it means nothing as the Gibson portal has several messages for some reason. Just wondering if anyone elses Gibson message is switching around. Hope to hear something soon.
