Admissions Discussion/Decisions - Class of 2023

I am OOS and was deferred 1/31 yet still nothing. So frustrated.

I’m still deferred as well. It’s so confusing because I know people at my school who have very similar stats to me and they were admitted months ago

Financial aid can be seen on portal now.

Daughters fin aid is a JOKE. Declining admission tonight, congrats to whoever gets her spot ?

Seeing the financial aid offer is certainly a disappointment. I anticipated this but my D not handling this news well. So much for her dream school.

@berry0720 it’s honestly unbelievable. My D should have technically qualified for a scholarship with her stats. Initial disappointment when she didn’t. It would cost her less to attend Fordham with the aid they gave her and that’s saying something considering the cost. Very upsetting.

@clip2023 you are correct. Now that the financial aid packages have been released this should certainly open many spots for the deferred students who have been anxiously waiting. It’s been quite the process. Good luck to all. Whether OSU or elsewhere!

Does your application status in the portal say “deferred”? Mine still shows as “applicant” with a note on the bottom that says we have begun processing your application …

Come on OSU let the OOS students in.Give us a decision so we can make decisions. Please, please don’t leave us hanging anymore.

fin aid terrible as expected… no i have to decline a spot for a great school

@whitlwindy many in-state students haven’t received a decision either, ugh such a stressful process

good luck to everyone who decides to matriculate, i’m leaving the discussion <3

Does anybody know if the financial aid packages include scholarships? Like the land grant opportunity scholarship. My package was terrible and I’m hoping they’ll be able to give me more.

Hoping there is another wave today

When my daughter was admitted, (HS Class of 2017) they offered her only $5500 student loans. She was a 4.4 GPA student, 30 ACT, tons of extra curricular & volunteer work. Needless to say she turned down OSU and went to another State school on a full tuition/room/board offer. (Pre-Nursing major)
Fast forward to this year, my son applied and was admitted to one of the regional campuses and same thing- only $5500 in student loans. (He applied to Engineering). His ACT was a 31 but his GPA was lower due to ADD that went undetected until his junior year. Both of my kids are URMS (Mexican/Puerto Rican) and our EFC is 23k.

A really good friend of ours daughter had a 34 on her ACT, 4.5 GPA, salutorian of her class and only received a $2500 scholarship for OSU (Engineering).
From what I have been able to glean, OSU gives merit aid to high stat out of state students, high stat first generation students and middle/high stat URM’s with low EFC. Each school hands out merit aid differently depending on who they really want to come to their school.

anyone know if decisions are coming out today?

I have no knowledge but I would have to think with only one week left in the month some decisions would have to come out today … but who the hell knows at this point?? We’re all just blowing in the wind …

@ntpro13 I would call admissions myself but I’m in class right now. I think I might have my mom call I’m too impatient to wait to call until I get out of school!

My mom called, she said they told her that no decisions are going out today but at the end of the month.

^%$#$%^&&&&*#@$@@ kidding me??
