Admissions Discussion/Decisions - Class of 2023

@ntpro13 I know. I’m sitting in class about to cry, I can’t take it anymore with OSU. Only school I want to go to and they make waiting for decisions so stressful.

Now I’m scared that they’re just gonna automatically waitlist us, did they say what day the last wave is

We called yesterday we were told they are now “rolling” until the end of the month. I wish they would be consistent with what they are having the students who answer the phone tell people. It’s really gotten to the point of ridiculous.

They never said what day the last wave was, just told us end of month.

@whirlwindy they are seriously just rolling out decisions randomly for the next week? What a joke. I feel like I heard people previously say their portals aren’t updating but they got the email. This is a mess.

I swear if they waitlist all of us like they seemed to do last year, I will be so extremely disappointed

@oj2018 They said rolling through the end of the month with no set time or day. They said check email and portal. It could happen anytime. The person on the phone was a student because we asked. It makes our family anxious to read these conflicting messages. They should tell the rstudents who answer the phone to tell the same story.

@whirlwindy at this point I wouldn’t mind rolling decisions. At least it could mean people hear back earlier and if not then at least we hear back by end of the month as originally promised. They really do need to get their story straight though.

I just called they said no decisions will be released this weekend and they will start up Monday. They then said realistically people will all find out at the very end of the month

I wish we could actually speak with an actual admissions personnel and not just a student representative. Every student representative I’ve talked to usually gives me different answers

@GoBuckeyes11 when they said start up on Monday were they referring to releasing decisions or reviewing applications

Both I think, no one is working in the admissions office right now which is annoying

I will try calling admissions as well in a couple hours and I’ll let you guys know what they tell me

I’m hoping that they actually go through our applications and review them again and not just simply waitlist us at the end of the month like they did with the deferrals

@OhioMom6 I disagree with your conclusions. I have a graduate, a current student, and an accepted student to go counter to your data. All in state, one grad in Env. SCi, one in Art, an incoming into Chem Eng. Similar EFC, higher ACT’s, same range GPA’s, and significant scholarship and grants. Granted my data set is too small to make a generalization, but I have the facts on my 3.

I called admissions and the representative said that it is possible that we could hear back/receive a decision on different days throughout next week. I didn’t really get any other information so I’m not really sure. If anyone else calls and receives some more info, let us know

My daughter applied to 12 schools and she has heard from every one of them except OSU. She submitted her application in AUGUST, 2018 and it has been EIGHT months and she is still waiting for a decision from OSU. She has been accepted to U of Wisconsin (Madison), Purdue, UIUC, Case Western, etc. OSU is not MIT (even MIT is out) and OSU has been out of the running for her months ago. OSU is beyond ridiculous.

@mayflower2001 Ohio State has deferred so many good students, it has been a very disappointing process for me as well. Hopefully it pays off

Considering that OSU is admitting ~25,000 freshman, they would have to do a rolling method of letting people know.

Have patience, hope the best, plan for everything else. It is a great school. It is not the only great school (I keep getting reminded). If it is your dream school, you will figure out a way.

@mayflower2001 My experiences do no match yours. Many variables are involved. Yes Case responded but over 50%of his other colleges have not and will not response until next week or “by April 1st.” A little emotion is coming through, I get it.

Best wishes. I thought it was nerve-wracking for me. I see that many are more nervous. Hope you get your kids through it smoothly.

It’s not just OSU deferring. Watching in quite a few other sections here and the emotions and frustrations are common.
