Offered Mansfield. In State. Applied 10/10. Deferred 1/31. Engineering. 31 ACT, 3 sport athlete, 8 AP’s, clubs, work, volunteering, all of it. Accepted Penn State, Pitt, Virginia Tech, others. Rejected by my home state.

It is really crazy that there are so many students with well above 30 on your ACT as well as strong GPAs and ECs, yet still not getting in.

For those of you guys that received the wait offer… have you’ve gotten an email to add yourself onto the waitlist?

This is gonna be so hard for me to get over

It’s okay bro it was my number one choice always thought I’d be going there as well, but I’m not even going to deal with the wait list time to move on. Where you go to college won’t define you!

Does anyone know what deadline is for waitlist or can they take as long as they want for that too?

have you’ve guys gotten an email to add yourself onto the waitlist?

I got waitlisted as well. Does anyone know when emails should be coming out? Or has anyone gotten it yet

I didnt hear anything from them, has this happened to anyone else? I have been under evaluation since early feb

To everyone asking, I got a deferral email 5 days after being deferred, so I wouldn’t assume the waitlist email would arrive tonight—but perhaps it will! I’ll keep an eye on this thread

I was admitted off the waitlist on May 5, 2017. I remember the exact date because that was the day that Admissions said they would notify us of admittance. It was also my prom night. What can I say, I waited it was my first choice, and I still don’tregret it! For those of you who wish to wait I get it, and those who are choosing to move on I get that too. Hopefully it you wait you will be admitted. It totally still worked out for me. Also I got the waitlist email within the first two days after being waitlisted. Good luck to you all.

For those who are taking the waitlist, will you commit someplace else? My parents want me to

Waitlisted for pre-nursing

Applied: 01/30/19
GPA: 3.52 UW / 3.76 W
ACT: 28, 11 on writing (29 superscore)
ECs: XC and Track all 4 years, Marching band and Wind ensemble 4 years, Volunteering clubs, chemistry tutoring club, Alzheimer’s awareness club, CSF member 4 years
7 AP classes, 1 honors over past 3 years

Super heartbroken about being waitlisted on 3/30. Does anyone know how long it may take to hear back? Not sure I have it in me to wait much longer on OSU.

Help!! I do CCP at Wright State University and by the end of this semester I will have 22 credits from there and an additional 6 credits at OSU from my scores on AP tests. This means I will be two credit hours short of a typical sophomore’s number of credits. I’m hoping to double major but since I’ve been waitlisted and will attend a regional campus if I’m not admitted to COL, I’m really concerned that I won’t be able to complete enough courses at a branch campus to still graduate in the amount of time I would be able to if I were to start at the Columbus campus. Basically, I need to get into major-specific courses ASAP. Does anybody know what office I could call to inquire about this?

Accepted after almost 9 months waiting. Child had moved on. Wise words of an 18 yr old : “If this is the way they treat their students I don’t want to go there, people don’t return emails, and they handle the process worse than any school I applied to. When they did return emails there were spelling errors in them…” He has three other schools and we are deciding. Best of luck to all who are going to OSU. They have students answering the phones who laugh when parents ask questions and say “ yeah it’s been awful this year.” Leaving this thread, happily!!! An absolute disgrace from beginning to end. They need an overhall in Admissions. Sad, we loved when visited but instead of sending us surveys whether we liked the help in admissions they should actually give help in admissions!!!

@whirlwindy It is unfortunate what your son experienced. When my son applied four years ago the Admissions office was very different—very efficient and communicative like a well oiled machine. Obviously there must have been turnover in admissions since that time. While your son’s words may be wise when it is reflective of a company or a university as a whole I think it is short-sighted because tOSU is much more than its admissions office, which is merely a gatekeeper. You and your son will never have to deal with admissions again. Ohio State academics are top notch, with almost any course and major under the sun, and it’s facilities—-academic, recreational, student union, and dormitories, are first-rate. While I hear your frustration, I think it’s foolhardy to dismiss a world renown university because of some temporary seasonal hires in the admissions office. I hope you and your son will reconsider his decision in light of his acceptance. Congratulations! Because the experience he will gain at tOSU will likely be a transformational —in a great way— one.

@whirlwindy and @trackmbe3 I also hear your frustrations about your son’s Admissions experience, and as I stated in earlier posts, I came in off the waitlist… and while Admissions was indeed a process, I don’t regret attending OSU in the least. The Admissions Office and the employees within it definitely do not define the school. Communication pass Admissions is very efficient! I am in my second year at the University, and have a sibling who attends as well, and have found opportunities here that I know help to keep OSU top notch. There are internships, facilities and organizations galore, not to mention as trackmb3 stated the academics are on point. So while I know the Admissions process is a “Bear” I will say that the experiences after admissions are well worth the wait. Good Luck to your son in his college decisions wherever he may choose to go!
