@trackmbe3 - He’s between U Miami, Penn State and Wisconsin. He gave up on OSU six weeks ago. It was a terrible process. He should’ve been admitted first thing but they play games— they’re ridiculous.
@whirlwindy all of his 3 choices are equally as good if not even better than OSU! Congrats to your son!
@1990OSUgraduate Congratulations to your daughter!
Got my waitlist email at around 1am this morning. Accepted my place on waitlist at 5am. Looking like Syracuse for me as of right now! Congrats to everyone who were lucky enough to get accepted! Best of luck to everyone else❤️ I feel everyone’s pain but we will all end up where we are meant to be. This entire process with OSU taught me how randomized admissions can be which really stinks, hopefully my little brother doesn’t have such a difficult time applying to colleges in 2 years!
@oj2018 Thank you. He agrees. I think he’s going to go to Wisconsin. Good luck to all.
So if you are waitlisted, you click to choose to stay on the list AND to have to choose a regional campus? Why must you choose if you have no intention on attending a regional campus?
I dont think I can wait any longer, so I might move on.
Does everyone’s wait offer make them also choose a regional campus of accepting the wait list?
Denied (exploratory 3.2 32 ACT) doesn’t want to go to regional (Newark) attending UC or Kent State.
Did you also have to choose a regional campus?
@Benmel trying to figure out the same thing. So many people waitlisted but can’t get an answer lol
does anybody know how going through columbus state rather than a regional campus works? also, would i have to go there for a whole year, or is there a waymto only go for a semester?
@taylor1212 I’m not sure if there is a difference. Some pros would be that you are still on downtown Columbus. Classes are way easier than regional campuses are which can be both good or bad. I don’t know the exact requirements for transferring to tell you the truth. It seems as well that Columbus State tuition is much cheaper than a regional campus
OSU Newark is a good alternative vs Marion or others. Our daughter didn’t get into OSU Columbus two years ago and did Newark for a year and then transferred into Columbus. She said the experience at Newark was fine…smaller classes, got to know her professors. Our son who graduates in May was accepted into OSU Columbus. We are local to Columbus, and I know it’s a whole different ballgame for OOS, but if you’re in state, don’t be so quick to rule out going to Newark for a year.
Going to Columbus State is a whole different ballgame. I would recommend Newark before Columbus State.
I should also mention that I realize that students do go to Columbus State to transfer to OSU for monetary reasons. I didn’t mean to seem unsympathetic. I was simply stating our family’s experience. It goes without saying that OSU Newark is also cheaper than OSU Columbus, so that also was a positive when our daughter decided to go there.
It just seems like there’s a lot of in-state folks on this thread that say OSU is their “dream school” and they are still wait-listed or declined. OSU has really tried to make it as seamless as possible to go to a regional campus and then transfer. They’ve spent a lot of money at Newark on the dorms and buildings over the past few years. I would recommend folks at least check it out.
I called and asked about this question and i was told that you would have to go to regional campus for a whole year to get 30 credit hours before transferring to main campus.
anyone still waiting to hear anything from OSU? I have not heard anything over email or had any update on my portal
I honestly think the whole 30 credit hour transfer thing is pretty stupid. Most students are at the point where they already have at least 15 credit hours or so and if you have to go to a regional campus, then you have to do another 30 credit hours resulting in having 45 or so. Obviously regional campuses offer classes, but nowhere near as many as main campus does so it may be hard to get 30 more credit hours period
If anyone got into main campus from being waitlisted or knows of anyone that did, how hard was it to find a roommate and get into a dorm you want?
Congrats to those who got in
