Admissions Discussion/Decisions - Class of 2024

*EA acceptances ^

Did anyone receive in-state Morril last Friday?

So I found the 2019 admissions report and it said there were about 25,606 accepted at Columbus campus. So there could be a lot more, but will they be EA or RD? I’m assuming it depends on how accepted students have responded so far. Mentally preparing for a possible deferral to RD…

@dadof3822 I called and they told me Buckeye Bound dates haven’t been finalized and that they would send out information eventually. Hmmm. She wouldn’t give me any dates at all. How did you find the dates you gave me? Thanks

Random question – can anyone explain the difference between Buckeye Bound, Admitted Student Day and Orientation?

@egkentucky I think the first two are the same thing, although we’ve had trouble finding details (they are in the spring for admitted students to come have another look before deciding, or to learn more about the university before they get there). Orientation happens in the summer for enrolled freshmen to visit campus, learn the ropes, get their initial class schedule, etc. (someone correct me if I’m wrong about the first two things)

I have a freshman at OSU, so can tell you from experience last year. Buckeye Bound is an organized event just for admitted students. I believe the dates vary by major, so may explain why some have dates and some don’t. (My USPS Informed Delivery showed a Buckeye Bound letter yesterday, but it was not delivered. sigh) This is more of a rah-rah, welcome to OSU event, to get you excited to enroll.

If you can’t make a Buckeye Bound day, you can sign up for an Admitted Student tour on any day. In reality, it’s just the normal info session & tour that any prospective student can take. D19 did that last year because we couldn’t make a Buckeye Bound day (either we had a schedule conflict or it was full). We were told this was similar to Buckeye Bound, but I would have preferred Buckeye Bound.

Orientation is in the summer for enrolled students. It is much more substantive, with sessions on campus safety, dining, housing, etc, and the students meet their advisors and register for classes. Students stay on campus during orientation (it’s a 2-day event), and there are evening activities as well.

My friend got accepted to Columbus campus last Friday

Major - Pyschology
ACT- 24
GPA - 3.8
Loads of ECs and Instate

… still nothing for me

@rbc2018

I got it off of the website. I am trying to post the pic of or here but it doesn’t let me.

@rbc2018 Try this link hscounselors.osu.edu
It states invites to Buckeye Bound will be emailed to admitted students, Dates for Buckeye Bound I found are, however not for 2020 :frowning:

Further to my previous comments on Buckeye Bound…
My H reminded me that last year there was a Residence Hall Open House, in addition to the Buckeye Bound. One of the BB dates was March 2, a Saturday, and the Residence Hall Open House was that Monday, March 4. We couldn’t make March 2nd, due to a conflict, so instead went for a normal Admitted Student visit on Monday morning, March 4th and did the Residence Hall Open House that afternoon.

The Residence Hall Open House was helpful to my D19, to get a sense of where she wanted to live. But it was very unorganized. The Admissions Office didn’t seem to know anything about it. When I called to schedule it, Admissions directed me to Housing, who directed me to a specific person, and eventually we got her signed up. There was no follow-up email or confirmation. Even the day of the tour, Admissions didn’t have any idea of where to go for the Open House, despite the fact that it started in the same building as the Admissions office.

Don’t know whether they’ll do the Open House again, but keep an eye out for it, because it’s a separate mailing entirely.

My D20 got her Buckeye Bound email today. She’s LSA/Math major, and her dates are Feb 29, Mar 27, and Apr 17. Again, I think the dates vary by major.

that 25,606 were including rd and ea, that is 48% acceptance rate, usually tosu has 52% acceptance rate, maybe this year we will have more admitted kids than last year hopefully.
roughly calculated,52000*0.04=2,080 more.

wish luck who still waiting result.

@momzilla2D @rbc2018 Thank you very much! :slight_smile:

Momzilla2D- your wrote ‘My D20 got her Buckeye Bound email today.’

When was your daughter admitted? Just wondering how long it took for them to send the email. Thanks

@smgins D20 was admitted in the first wave, mid-Nov.

Wow, surprised it took so long, hopefully it was just the initial lag in setting everything up and recently accepted students will get the email much quicker.

Thanks!

I applied at the beginning of October for Early Action and have not received any notification about my decision. I am out of state and applied to the honors college if that makes a difference… Anyone early applicants still haven’t heard?

My D is OOS and in the same situation - applied early October and no word. Good luck to all those still waiting!
