My D19 is in the criminal justice program. She was admitted last year with 3.4 wgpa, 1450 SAT, OOS. What are your stats?
@rbc2018 and@ smidgins we received the Fisher invite about 8 weeks after and 2 weeks later the Buckeye Bound info. We committed and already paid the acceptance fee and still received Buckeye info. The postcard had 3 Buckeye Bound days listed. I can’t remember Fisher.
Buckeye Bound info came via a postcard. We are already scheduled for Fisher and won’t be able to make Buckeye Bound. BTW, we accepted and paid on 11/16/19, we were VERY early.
@rbc2018 found that on the OSU website if you don’t want to wait:
We offer visit days for admitted high school seniors on Mondays, Fridays, and select Saturdays* from February to April.
ADMITTED STUDENT OVERVIEW & TOUR
We welcome admitted students to come visit Fisher to help guide them in their college search process by hearing about the Fisher student experience. These visits are specifically targeted toward high school seniors who have been admitted to The Ohio State University.
Presented by a Fisher staff member, you will get to hear from current Fisher students and a faculty presenter. Information covered includes detailed information on a student’s four-year experience as a Buckeye business student. We will cover the business curriculum, academic expectations, as well as resources, student opportunities, career services outcomes, and global opportunities. There is a senior spotlight presenter as well as a Fisher student Q&A panel followed by a tour of Fisher’s campus.
Admitted visits start at 1:30p.m and end at 4:00p.m.
Schedule your Fisher tour through University Admission’s visit page. Select “Admitted Freshmen” at the bottom of the page, then “Fisher College of Business Overview & Tour” under “Specific Areas of Interest.”
How many EA were submitted last year? Is this last wave usually more deferrals/denials than prior ones?
I’m honestly so worried that I haven’t gotten in.
@chixago342 - I don’t remember seeing on this thread a posting of the applications for the admissions report closest to Nov 1st. The thread from last year seemed to indicate a lot of deferrals. It is worth noting that last year roughly 29% of admission offers came after the 1/28/19 report (from wayback machine) and varied between 25-40% of admission offers for all colleges except Engineering.
% of admission offers after 1/28/19
Agriculture 40%
Architecture 29%
Arts & Sciences 38%
Business 29%
Dental Hygiene 34%
Education 32%
Engineering 3%
Environment & Natural Resources 36%
University Exploration 33%
Health & Rehabilitation 28%
Public Affairs 23%
Nursing 26%
Public Health 23%
Pharmacy 25%
Social Work 30%
Last year, the College of Engineering sent out 132 (3%) admission offers after 1/28/19, which would have included 1/31/19 for the end of EA. When looking at the current 1/27/20 report, Computer Science & Engineering offers are down 45% to LY so one would assume a large batch of offers should go out this week for that major. You may also notice that they are not accepting Engineering Undecided majors this year, so the other majors would most likely over index offers vs LY. Most of them appear to be doing that, but they only total 406 offers greater than LY. So one could also assume that an additional 600-700 Engineering offers are still to come.
i have saved some weekly admissions reports this year and recovered some from last year with the wayback machine. So I have reports from…
2018 - 11/26
2019 - 1/2, 1/7, 1/28, 11/18, 11/25, 12/9, 12/16, 12/23
2020 - 1/13, 1/21, 1/27
Oops, hit submit too soon. But if anyone wants anything from those reports, let me know. These reports have #applications, #admitted, #paid acceptance fees; by school/program.
As for # of EA applicants, closest I have is 11/18. This year, there were 38,182 v. 37,654 prior year. (columbus campus, fall new first year students) eta: most of these are EA, but could include some RD as well.
Where do you find the reports? I thought there was a link in one of the threads, but I cannot find it.
My daughter applied Aug 19 and we still haven’t heard like many on this blog…
@HopsnBarleySue Here is the link to all the admissions reports. The one with applications by college can be found by clicking on Weekly Report. Another one that details by major, but doesn’t include applications can be found by clicking Columbus Campus New First Year Students.
@momzilla2D Do you know what the breakdown of the 1/28/19 wave was -#s deferred, denied, accepted? Trying to mentally prepare ourselves for Friday.
I’d be curious about that too! Prepared for deferral or denial over here
@momzilla2D I would also like the stats from last year’s 1/28/19 report. That may give us a good idea of how many more acceptances to expect this Friday. Also if you can see how many acceptances to the business school. Thanks in advance!
@MamaBearz99 @TheFrenchChef @iluvspotify
The weekly reports only show #applications and #acceptances to date. No info on deferrals or denials. Of course, #apps - #accepted = #deferred + #denied.
Through 1/28/2019, there were 18,105 acceptances v. 18,417 this year.
Of course, there were more decisions released 1/31 last year, and the 1/28 report doesn’t capture those. IIRC, there were acceptances on 1/31, but there were a lot of deferrals (more than previous rounds). If you look back at last year’s thread, you can get a better idea (v.s my memory which could be faulty).
@momzilla2D You have been such a great help to all of us still waiting for results. Thank you!
As far as breakdown by school/program, thru 1/28, most have accepted more this year than last year, with the exception of Engineering (down 632).
Ok so after reading this I am really nervous but can someone predict my chances of admissions.
Residency: in state
Application: EA (Nov 1st)
Major: Computer Information Science- College of Arts and Science
GPA: 4.2570/4
ACT: 25
Extra curricular: ton of leadership positions and meaningful involvement in clubs and several internships.
Courses: Honors(9), AP(8), Dual(5) overall most of them pertaining to my major.
I still haven’t received any decision whereas almost everyone I know who applied got in. I have received acceptances from 5 other schools so far but OSU is my dream school. I talked to them on the phone today and they said the final wave is 1/31/2020. I just want to be prepared. What are my chances?
@PerfImp2002
I would be pretty surprised if you didn’t get in. In OSU’s standards, your ACT is a tad bit low but your essay, letter of recs, and meaningful extra-curriculars can make up for that. Fingers crossed you comment with good news tomorrow!
Good luck to you and everyone else still impatiently waiting!
OSU is slowly trying to raise its standards…will be interesting and good luck.
