@lenrescal I don’t know the answer for sure, but it couldn’t hurt to send an email with all of those things. Fingers crossed for you. Good luck!
I would certainly mention all of that (though maybe not about your grandfather unless that ties into why you want to go, you don’t want to imply you want preferential treatment) – your stats are good - you should be confident!
Merit aid at Purdue is much harder to get than at OSU. There isn’t much budgeted for it. It is particularly hard in engineering, which gets many hundreds of high-stat OOS engineering students each year. Purdue doesn’t have to scholarship OOS engineering students to get them. However, it is much easier to get merit aid from Purdue if you are entering one of the other colleges, such as agriculture or arts and sciences. The competition for scholarships is significantly less for the other colleges.
So I’m getting the impression that this is the order of things: portal says admitted; get letter in the mail also saying admitted; later get another letter in the mail from a specific college giving you Buckeye Bound dates; later (or earlier?) get another letter in the mail with any scholarship offers. Then I suppose an email at some point about housing details? I’m just trying to understand when/how to expect information going forward. Everything is sent separately, right?
D20 got an email in her buckeye email inviting her to Buckeye Bound 2020. Easy to click through and register for the visit! We haven’t received any snail mail from OSU. She was accepted in the last round to be released on January 17th. We are OOS (NJ) so wanted to get this in the calendar and flights sorted.
@smgins thanks for the info. My son was also accepted on 1/17, but hasn’t received an email about Buckeye Bound. Maybe it is sent out by the colleges? He is business.
Would love to be able to make plans!
@rbc2018 my daughter is Fisher as well. Did he set up a buckeye email address, if so that is where she received the invite. They showed the following dates:
We’d love to see you!
Select a date and register early (these events fill up fast):

Saturday, February 29 (Register by Feb. 22)

Hopefully there is still another release for those that applied EA, just to update momzilla2d’s reporting and fully crediting her for guiding us to this information:

@smgins my son also got in on 1/17, and we received his acceptance letter in today’s snail mail. Also in nj. I’m also wondering when the scholarship information comes out.
Snail mail acceptance came today as well.
@smgins, my daughter was accepted first round into Fisher. In addition to Buckeye Bound, you will receive info to attend Fisher’s Lunch & Learn: Finding your Community followed by Fisher Admitted Student Open House & Tour
Excellent, thank you for the information. I assume that was all in the same day as the Buckeye Bound visit…
@Momofbvk How long after acceptance did you receive the email about Buckeye Bound and the other Fisher events?
According to tOSU 2019 Admissions Report, there were 25,606 admitted freshman to the Columbus campus. If that holds roughly true this year, we still have a lot of room for admits for 2020. The official “Ohio State” Twitter account was still advertising the RD deadline on Twitter yesterday, which makes me laugh, seeing as they will probably (I don’t know for sure, and don’t want to make anyone nervous!) defer a bunch of ED’s because they can’t finish those evaluations by 1/31. Good luck getting in on RD! It amazes me tOSU admissions office has ZERO social media presence. If someone knows of any, please post! I think they intentionally keep everyone in the dark for a reason.
To those asking about receipt of “Buckeye Bound”, I contacted Admissions today and was told Buckeye Bound is only sent to those who have been accepted and NOT paid their acceptance fee nor committed yet, and then only to selective individuals/majors. I did not ask further beyond that. I had called as our daughter did pay acceptance fee and committed, wondering why she had not received Buckeye Bound. She did get info inviting her to accepted students of NE Ohio reception/event being held here in Cleveland. Admissions said no other planned events until Orientation in July for those that have paid their acceptance fee. Trusting I was provided accurate info, of course, as I’ve heard those calling questioning admission notification dates, etc. have been told different things depending on who they speak with. This individual seemed very knowledgeable though.
Wishing good luck to those waiting and I feel confident that positive news is coming. I don’t know if anyone waiting is a CSE major but I read on OSU Reddit that for some reason they are notified at end of January, or were last year, for whatever that’s worth. I’m rooting for all of you!
did you check buckeye mail?
my son admitted on Jan,17, and we are in NE part of Ohio, we got official acceptance letter by snail mail and email but Buckeye Bound only by buckeye mail, not email nor snail mail, and seems like everyone has same event day.
check buckeye mail, probably you got it yesterday around 12:30PM.
And ,also my son accepted from several schools, maybe tosu can be little different but other schools sent official acceptance letter by email and snail mails around a week later, then another a week or 10 days later honor decide letter by snail letter, and after 2 weeks+ later after honor decide finally got scholarship informations by snail mail only,
so maybe at least 1+ month later we will get scholarship information, but these are all by other college so just I assumed
25,606 are including rd, so EA decision won’t be 7,000 more, but still lots of kids will accept on Jan,31.
I already mentioned before my son’s school always applied 80+ kids(only 200+ kids in senior) to osu and admitted 60+, but still only 20+ kids got results(luckily all of them admitted), so still 3/4
kids are waiting for results.
so don’t worry about too much.
Good luck.
@kittyduey Apparently the reason my son hasn’t received anything about it (even in buckeye mail) is because he already paid the deposit (we wanted him in the queue for housing). I didn’t know that would bump him off the list for buckeye bound, but I guess he can still do an admitted student session at Fisher. Oh well!
Does anyone know if both the personal essay and the essay for the scholar’s program are read by the same admissions officer? I think my scholar’s essay is much better, and I can use all the advantages I can get haha.
Is OSU hard to get into when applying for the criminal justice program?
