Still waiting in our house
I’m still waiting
Anyone know when final decisions might come out?
@CincyPlsHelp still waiting too! i have been checking the portal every 10 mins… still nothing
@kittycat1203. It is my understanding that sophomores do their housing selections earlier (like now). And they literally choose their rooms from a map of available rooms when their slot comes up. Safe to say they take the true suites before the other doubles. If any are left over, I guess the remaining go to the freshmen first in line who choose that rate plan. And since you can’t specify preference for a configuration (just the rate plan), then u you our have to rely on luck to get one of those, I think. It wasn’t that hard for my S20 to prioritize as he wanted north and he also wanted a triple or quad (his roommate is one of his high school friends). That eliminated rate plan 3 and 1.
@cypresspat Thanks so much…very helpful info!
Just don’t want my son getting his hopes up for a suite with a common space lounge even with a top choice of Rate plan 1. We will assume all the sophomores take those type of rooms. But maybe he will be able to get a room with only one other roommate. Thanks again for all your help!
everyone who got accepted go add my snap: ajbbb9 trying to get some new friends for OSU.
@cypresspat @momzilla2D Sorry to keep bugging you guys…but my son is filling out his housing preferences. Would either of you happen to know if when OSU sends you info in July…do they just tell you what dorm/room you were placed in? Or do you they tell you which one of your preferences (such as North Rate 1) you got and then you actually get a pick time to select which dorm/room you want? Not sure if I am making much sense here because it’s kind of confusing to explain it lol.
But thanks for taking the time to answer all of our questions!
@kittycat1203 OSU assigns the dorm and room. You don’t get to pick.
@momzilla2D That’s what we thought, but my son wanted to know for sure. Thank you so much!
Anyone who was accepted to OSU add my snap: kc2020cf. I’m trying to make some new friends and possibly a new roommate for college next year. Hope everyone is well!
Hello, everyone. hopefully everyone is ok during this harsh time.
I am just wondered everyone got financial packages and house emails?
my son accepted on mid, Jan and got merit scholarship by snail mail, we paid acceptance fee on Feb,24. He didn’t get any letter or email. anyone got financial package or house email, did you get by email or school portal?
Also, Miami university in ohio declare today, they maybe can’t open school Aug or Sep,
so any idea for orientation or school starting day for tosu?
Everything is unclear these day.
@kittyduey Do you have a link to the Miami announcement? That’s the first school I’ve heard of that have acknowledged that fall could be in question.
I know some of the schools are doing everything virtual so it’s a possibility that OSU will do this too for orientation. When you call the office it says that all admitted student events have been canceled. Although I’m not completely sure and maybe it’s too early to call. It might be best to contact the office of admissions, it doesn’t hurt to ask. I also haven’t been admitted yet. I am still waiting to hear either today or tomorrow. That’s just my best guess
Here is the article from Miami
None of this should be shocking… If the expectations are that the Corona Virus will continue to prolong and cause more and more misery, this scenario is very realistic. A local article already stated that there is a very good chance Fall sports both professional and collegiate will be canceled as well
Thanks @1917souci …looks like it’s not an actual public statement by Miami. Rather, a leaked internal memo. No surprise, of course, and I would hope that all schools are considering the possibility that campuses can’t reopen by fall. However, I have not heard of any schools that have said publicly that fall could be in question. And I guess I would be surprised if they make a statement like that before the commitment date (May 1 or June 1).
thanks for the Miami article…guessing a lot of schools finding it difficult to plan…
@momzilla2D I am sure this internal memo is going around at every school including OSU. There is no way this has not been discussed. This could very well explain why OSU has admitted as many students this year than ever. There is always the chance that students might not enroll for one semester and newly admitted students might not even commit.
Miami does depend a little more on OOS students and is highly dependent on the higher tuition from these students. On the other hand, OSU requires Freshmen and Sophomers to live on campus. The possibility of not having these students moving in Fall along with Football not being played will be incredibly devastating. The whole idea is unimaginable and really depressing.
Is it just me or are there more people who haven’t recieved their decision yet? I emailed them… Recieved their reply today which said that I am guaranteed a decision by end of March! I don’t see that happening though… Pretty fed up now
Yah we are still waiting, too. ? this has been grueling. Hoping we get an answer tomorrow, and that it is what we hope for!
@college0308 I haven’t received mine either. Still waiting…
