What was the overall acceptance rate? I’m assuming it was pretty high for this year. I also am wondering if it would negatively effect OSU’s ranking in national schools.

Updated Housing Information infers in person campus this Fall.
"June 3, 2020
Living on campus contributes to student success and persistence toward graduation, and the university will continue to house students of all ranks.
In order to maintain physical distancing when students are welcomed back to campus in the fall, the university will reduce population density in residence halls. No later than Friday, June 19, availability updates will be provided to first-year students and returning students who have expressed interest in living on campus."

And they raised the price… Seriously ? They are reducing the experience, reducing the dining options, and the time in classroom and there is a price increase…
“The guarantee sets rates for in-state tuition, mandatory fees and housing and dining costs for each entering class of first-year Ohio resident students and freezes those rates four years.*”
Understand it is a freeze after this year for 4 years but there is a 4.1 % increase for in state and 4.8% increase for out of state. www.thelantern.com
This was voted on in yesterday’s meeting
@momtoaandv - I’m sure there are students that were denied that would gladly pay the increased price if you decided not to go to tOSU.
How does that compare with prior years?
Great question , honestly don’t know
Tuition guarantee program started in 2017:
“The new costs for incoming in-state students will be reflected in a 6 percent increase to the instructional fee, bringing the yearly total of tuition and fees to $10,591. For non-residents, which includes both out-of-state and international students, a 5 percent increase will now take effect. On top of the 5 percent increase, incoming international students will be subject to a $996 increase to the flat yearly fee, bringing the cost of tuition and fees to $32,623.”
2018:
“Costs for incoming Ohio freshmen will lock in for four years for the second-straight year, with a 1.4 percent inflation-based increase if passed in a proposal to the Board of Trustees this week.”
https://www.thelantern.com/2018/06/ohio-state-locks-in-tuition-guarantee-for-second-straight-year/
2019:
“The Ohio State Board of Trustees voted Wednesday to increase fees by 3.3 percent for incoming in-state freshmen, according to an Ohio State news release.”
2020:
"The Ohio State University plans to increase tuition and fees for incoming Ohio freshmen by 3.9%, which equates to a $434 annual change from last year’s rate, according to a proposal being presented to the university’s Board of Trustees on Wednesday.
The new rate will then be frozen for four years for these students, who are the fourth class to join the university under the Ohio State Tuition Guarantee. The university will also increase financial aid packages for Pell-eligible students by $434 so that these students are unaffected by the change."

@H0llyw00d Update: OSU going test optional for 2021
https://news.osu.edu/act-and-sat-scores-are-optional-for-2021-ohio-state-applications/
Looking at the admissions results 705 international students have paid their deposit. I hope they can get their visas.
@rbc2018 Thank you! I just noticed that the other day. I wonder how they are going to consider students for merit when they do not have a test score to submit. I am also wondering if it makes sense to submit a score that is not your best, but is at the bottom of the range of their middle 50 percent in scores.
@H0llyw00d I was wondering those things too. I was also thinking about students who maybe took a test once and had it automatically sent to colleges with potentially no possibility to retake and improve; is there a mechanism to erase scores already sent? August test dates haven’t been cancelled yet, but I won’t be surprised if they are. Luckily my daughter was able to test once and is very happy with her score, so she will send it, but I doubt it will have the same weight that it would have.
@rbc2018 My daughter took it too and while she did really well on the ACT English/Reading, and pretty well on the math, the Science section killed her. She was so ready for the April ACT which along with June & July were canceled. We’re hoping for another opportunity to test this fall, but she hasn’t practiced at all in months, so who knows what that will yield. February may be all we have to go with, and while it is within range, it isn’t her best work. Wishing your daughter luck!
@H0llyw00d I saw that ACT is adding dates in September and October, so fingers crossed. I thought ACT was going to start allowing kids to take sections of the test separately, which would be perfect for your daughter, but I don’t currently see anything about that on their site so maybe they have put it off because of all of the recent cancellations.
@rbc2018 I heard the section testing was delayed for a year. It wouldn’t have helped her with schools like OSU because they only consider composite scores so she’d have to take the whole exam again anyway.
Even though ACT is not required, it absolutely will be part of merit scholarship decisions for most schools including OSU.
@DG How can you be sure? If the fall SAT and ACT sittings get cancelled, the majority of applicants will not have scores.
