Admitted Texas A&M University, Class of 2028

Thank you! I’m just waiting on acceptance, but I only requested in the past two hours or so.

I have a question about move in date selection…is it fairly easy to get the move in date you want or is it pretty limited? My son is thinking he wants to move in the 15 or 16 and I am trying to plan our travel there (we live in Maryland) and I am just wondering if he will most likely get his choice of move in date or not…

I think it is first come first served, so if you can stay on the ResLife socials, you can be first and get the time slot you want. Even if you don’t you can try calling and pleading your case.

It was easy.

Does anyone have any feedback on Walton Hall? My son just signed up for that dorm yesterday. Have heard mixed reviews online. Thinking maybe I should look at apartments for him instead.

Thanks in advance

@2024SATXDad Walton is old…BUT lots of character! Great Northside location, right by Hullabaloo & Houston St USPS (which is suggested for P.O. Box, over campus mail in Hullabaloo).
Renovated several times.
I’d FOR SURE stick with Walton vs living off campus.

I also read you can call and ask for early move in if you have extenuating circumstances.

Out of State isn’t extenuating. ResLife won’t honor early move-in requests-unless it would be something like a death/funeral, even then it probably wouldn’t happen.

ResLife employee has to hand out keys, an RA would have to be on duty. cafeterias wouldn’t be open…so many moving parts to move-in.

Thank you all for the info…I am just going to go ahead and buy our plane tickets now as they just keep going up and hope for the best with him getting the move in date he wants.

I got the impression they are worried about getting specific day, not early request than everyone else.

I do believe they will allow you to get a move in date that works. It’s more about move in time vs date anyway as most move in over the weekend.

I was referring to @JEdge2004 that mentioned you could request early move-in.

I think getting 15th or 16th won’t be a problem, as long as they log in right away to request, and are flexible about time of day.

@crn46 all the major stores are in B/CS-
Costco, Sam’s, Best Buy, WalMart, Target, etc.
Many OOS will pre order and pick up curbside from stores. H-E-B (grocery store) delivers for $5.

If your son is living in a Northside dorm, I strongly suggest renting a P.O. Box at the Houston St USPS. Hullabaloo and The Commons both offer boxes thru campus mail…but pick up times are limited and mail/packages are delayed several days.
NOTHING can be sent directly to any dorm room, not even flowers, pizza, Amazon or FedEx.
Renting a P.O. Box will be necessary to receive any mail, packages, Amazon or UPS/FedEx.

You can rent a Houston St box during NSC (definitely the way to go, beats the rush during Howdy Week).

*check flights for both Austin and IAH (Houston Bush). HOU/Hobby is not convenient to B/CS.

You are so awesome, thank you! This is great information and I really appreciate any info. I can’t get into the facebook pages you suggested (other than the Mays one) because I haven’t been on facebook long enough so I really appreciate your advice and the advice of others on this site.

My son will be in a Northside Modular so I will definitely get him a PO Box.

Southwest is going to stop flying into IAH in early August so I think that is what is driving up prices into AUS…

If not for your advice way back last July to apply early, my son would have never gotten in being OOS and holistic, so many thanks to you for helping make this happen for him, and others!!!

@crn46 you are welcome!

Yes, SWA is indeed pulling out of IAH.
United is king at IAH, have you priced UA?

Northside modular is great! Definitely rent a Houston St USPS when you’re at NSC, and NOT a campus box at Hullabaloo. Super easy to get mail & packages-24/7-from Houston St.

For pizza/food delivery & WalMart/H-E-B delivery, student will need physical dorm address (ResLife home page will have that), not just dorm name. Student will put in physical address, cell and will need to meet delivery driver in a designated ‘drop off’ area near his dorm. There are no dorm desks to leave anything.

Understandable. Didn’t necessarily think it would get through the approvals but did read it was possible for certain situations. Thanks for clarifying.

They started reviewing engineering honors applications again this week. Aggie #2 got in after being waitlisted.

Congrats!! So they have a waitlist for engineering honors?? Can you share what their stats were?

Mine got in off wait list about a month ago. 34 ACT/1490 SAT, 4.5 weighted GPA, 7 APs - all A/A+, all 5s except one (Chemistry: 4). Top award in his scouting organization.

Is there any kind of merit aid that comes with engineering honors?
