That’s amazing. Way to be “patient” lol. We knew he’d get in. So glad it all worked out. Congrats.
My son applied for fall admission from Blinn with a 4.0 taking the required prerequisites for Accounting. He was denied admission into Mays business. He was accepted into the PTA program for fall of 2024 but it was for his second choice major and it was not in the College of Business. We chose to go the Blinn route because we have had so many problems with my daughter accepting her second major and not being able to transfer to Mays. Anyone have any advice as to how to help him get admitted?
Has he started ? Is there not a direct four year option he could go to instead ? Major over school. Especially for accounting which is extremely hirable from anywhere.
He will be a sophomore. There are lots of four year options for him. He would just love to be an Aggie.
Good luck to him - he’ll be great no matter where he ends up. Just remember, he should choose his major, not the school, in the end. IMHO of course.
Mays doesn’t participate in PTA, that’s not an option.
I’m confused. Did your son apply thru PTA? Or did he apply via direct transfer from Blinn?
Did your son apply to A&M during senior year, or did he go straight to Blinn?
Did he apply straight transfer after Fall semester? If so, how did he complete everything in one semester? Mays would be hard to get into after only one semester.
He applied to A&M after one year at Blinn. No he did not apply thru PTA. He was offered PSA (with his second choice major) for his freshman year of college and chose to go to Blinn instead. I mistyped on my first inquiry and said PTA. At Blinn he took all required classes to transfer and received a 4.0 and was denied admission for his upcoming sophomore year.
I guess the timing isn’t make sense to me. You have to apply by March for the fall. Maybe yall did and were deferred for spring grades?
And yes the PTA typo changed the entire message lol. So he applied straight transfer. Mays is one of the hardest majors to be accepted in. The required courses for transfer are extensive and unless there’s a lot of dual credit, almost impossible to have it all completed by application date.
Again, I may be misunderstanding. I’ll go back a reread it all with PtA out of my mind.
Agree @Christi1993 … things just aren’t adding up.
Yes he was deferred for Spring grades.
What do you mean by not adding up? He graduated from high school in 2024 . He was offered PSA for his second choice major that was not in business! He went to Blinn for Fall of 2024 and Spring of 2025 and got a 4.0 . He took the required classes following what an advisor advised him to take . Then he was deferred admission mid Spring so that A&M could review his spring semester grades from Blinn. He sent his transcript over immediately and He was denied acceptance the last week of June. Im just wondering if anyone has any advise as to what else he could do to get into accounting at A&M? Sorry for original Typo in my first inquiry which led to much confusion!
All students have to apply to Mays first, Accounting isn’t a direct admit. There are very specific courses required, before a student can declare their major within Mays.
Not sure why he would’ve been denied, if he did have all needed courses/hours and a 4.0 from Blinn. Did they give a reason for denial?
Are there DC credits? If so, what was DC gpa? And how many DC hours?
PSA doesn’t offer majors, they offer alternative system campuses-student then has the option to select a major within the campuses offered. Business is never an option thru PSA.
What was his 2nd choice major for transfer because he should have been accepted for that. How many grades hours did he have?
Also… feel free to message me with the courses he took for transfer and any dual credit and I’ll try to figure out what happened.
Omg I really appreciate that! He gets back in town tomorrow night so when he’s back I’ll message you with a detailed list of the course and grades and dual credit. My main concern is how to go about getting him accepted for junior year and if that’s even an option!
Sounds good. I’m still confused as to why he didn’t accepted to 2nd choice major for transfer. Did he put one?
FYI tomorrow is my bday and then I’m gone til aug 3rd. If you want me to look at his transcript, please send by noon. I want to check it out and see why he didn’t get 2nd major choice.
