I do think that though. And NEHS is not just an organization based on exams. It is an organization based on people who are willing and motivated to dedicate time and help others with studying vocab and stuff as well as making me a better reader. My school is not easy. And who said English isn’t my mother tongue? Where are you getting this information? And I really didnt try on the test. I didn’t know guessing hurt you. I guessed on the las 12 questions on the verbal. I guessed on like 13 math questions because I was running out of time. I am a person who gets nervous when taking tests. And my grades of C’s is because this is my first year taking AP classes and it was 5 of them at that. i didn’ know they were gona be this time consuming. I mean I get like 4’s on my practice english and us history AP exams.

That is even more interesting. If English is your mother language, you score should be way higher than mine, but yours is not.

This is a sad example of Affirmative Action going to far, and people trying to get into Harvard with below average (not harvard average, this is probably below national average) scores and maybe 60-70 percentile GPA, relying on Affirmative Action to get you in, though there are tens of thousands of applicants more qualified than you. In my opinion, it’s both sad and pathetic.

obiedude…

" And my grades of C’s is because this is my first year taking AP classes and it was 5 of them at that. i didn’ know they were gona be this time consuming. I mean I get like 4’s on my practice english and us history AP exams."

you took AP MICRO via FLVS, got a B and got a 1 on the exam… so, this isnt your first year taking APs… and on another post, I saw you posted something about expecting to fail the english ap exam tomorrow, getting less than half of the MC questions correct… so, there seems to be inconsistency… and about your URM status… I have that too, im a latino, but that doesnt mean we can score average (or below average, in your case), and expect to get into a good college, or ivy league for that matter, it just isnt fair, and is poor use of Afirmative Action (already contraversial)… being black and getting average/below average scores is no excuse… STANDARDS are STANDARDS regardless of ethnicity/race… and no matter how you cut the pie, an 1000 (MV) SAT without “Studying” or “much studying” beacause it was one’s “first time” is no excuse… neither is taking 5ap classes and doing HORRIBLY in them, with the excuse of saying “im in 5”… so WHAT? im in like 7, calc, macro, micro,us govt,us history, english n spanish… but im alive and well, and I can honestly say my gpa, although ive had like 2 or 3 Bs this year, is still okay…if you had done well on the SAT, would you have been like “i didnt study”? one cannot simply rely on one’s race/ethnicity to be the foot inside the door, cause if it were the case, then i would be fighting my case on how im getting into harvard, which, with common sense, would tell me im most defineitly not… how your bro got in? je ne sais pas… but really really bump up your SAT score, and if you get your predicited 1250 (650m and 600v)… itd still be shy of impressive for IVYleague material… we cant aim that high… UF sounds great… soak up our Bright Futures (assuming you get the targeted 1270 for 100%, which is still low for ivyleague)

ps… everyone gets those MIT and carnegie mellon things (above a certain percentile on the PSAT)… the more peeps apply and belive they are qualified, the lower the admission rate, the higher the prestige, as explained earlier

finally, somebody is speaking sensibly. I have nothing more to add to the above post :)

Yeah… I take AP this year too… but I have a B+. And I’m satisfied, because this is already the highest grade of that AP of the whole school.

And I’m sure I will get a five.

first of all, if u listened you woulda seen that I said that was my first time taking the practice test and i took practice tests C and D earlir today as well which got me 4’s. So that clears that up. Second of all, I dont really count an AP class online as taking an AP for the first time. Third of all I did not get C’s in all of my AP classes. I got a B in AP Micro, an A in Ap Art History after he inputed my free response, and an A in AP US History consistently. AP US History is a class where you have to be a top notch reader. A standardized test is just a ****ign test and it doesnt test any knowledge and it doesnt measure smartness. There are many factors that could take place among a student when takign the test. I think you ppl are just a little insecure or something. And I will make straight A’s next year. I know this. Again, thanks for the advice.

lol, people always make chances threads then get offended when nobody thinks he/she will be accepted. Deal with it, and move on.

if you get a 2300 + on the SAT you might be able to get in. Your GPA is well below the average at most ivies. Most of their students have never gotten a C, let alone multiple Cs

***** please, i aint offended by none of you ppl cuz i dont know anythign about you guys and you damn well dont know **** about me. i asked for advice. and i am not offended. i was just making clarifications jackass. and another thing, half of you ppl on this site are geetting a little fake, and i have found numerous proof regarding that liars.

what cant u ppl understand!! my GPA IS NOT LOW!!! I have a 4.0 GPA!!! AP at my school is weighted 6 points on the 4.0 scale plus i have taken advanced classes online! do u ppl listen

also, forget it, clearly u guys are wasting my life…dont post anythign on this thread regarding any advice cuz i dont wanna hear it. yall are lying anyway abou some stuff because many AVERAGE students get into IVY league schools and i think u ppl are a little insecure about that and u just dont want that to outshine you. half of u ppl only have grades to offer anyway. thanks for the advice jackasses

(no message)

because, as he mentioned before, the honor society in his school is not based on the test score, but on the motivation. God, I wish in his school. I got rejected from the Science Honor because I have a B on Biology.

How do you have a 4.0 weighted? Your unweighted is like a 3.2-3.4 and most of your Cs have been in AP classes.

oboe, when they say your GPA is low, they mean that your GPA is low… 4.0 or not, many ivy league contenders have GPAs above 4.0. and, your unweighted GPA must also be low with all of those C’s…

I believe colleges recalculate your GPA, so having an amazing weighted gpa doesn’t particularily matter as much (not that a 4/6 is stellar …) . I believe unweighted counts for more (and of course having a challenging courseload)

I believe you should apply to all the Ivies you can.

I agree with CC24, don’t let us stop you from applying. as i’ve said before, apply everywhere, because not applying means that you will definitely not get in.

apply all u want but in the general eyes u rn’t qualified. Also no one looks at weighted GPA. it’s all about unweighted with courseload.
