The world is waiting! Starting March 13th -
No celebs that I could see in the cast
Depends on your definition of celeb. Rod Gardner played in the NFL, primarily with the Redskins.
But no reality stars, no YouTube influencers, etc.
Hey, I just found out that one of the contestants is a good friend of my cousin!
Season premiere is tonight
knew it was coming but not this soon!
This is actually the season that was shot/filmed before the season 35 that we saw last year. Right? It’s crazy that they didn’t air this for so long - are the winners supposed to keep mum about the million dollars for all this time?
Yup
Yup. In addition to the NDA, they don’t get the money until the episode airs.
Production knew the season they aired in Fall would be better for 2 reasons:
-
The upcoming season was planned as 60 minute episodes, so we’re getting 30 minutes (22 minutes with commercials) of filler.
-
The upcoming season was filmed under COVID restrictions, so chartered planes, shorter route, etc
Tonight’s the night!
Actually, the episode was better than I thought it would be. I didn’t really see a lot of filler, but maybe because it’s the premiere and extra time allowed us to get to know the contestants.
I will say, that lasso challenge would have taken me forever.
At the moment, I think the pilots are my favorites, but I need another episode or 2 to finalize my favorites
Maya and Rohan were just a train wreck
Which contestant?
Karishma
Taking care of my mom so I missed most of the show.
The lasso challenge seemed tough if they didn’t immediately get the timing.
I was surprised that a team went home since it was a “keep racing” leg.
Not unprecedented. It happened in season 32
I was wondering about that. They did say last team would be eliminated but then they were also still racing. So, I was wondering if they would somehow survive.
The incident with the car on that narrow street was something else! It’s amazing how navigational skills are the downfall for so many teams!!
I like a few of the teams so far but no one team stands out yet. I like NFL team, firefighters, double dutch team. Seem to be more what I’ll call “quirky” teams than in some seasons. And not so many body builders and fitness instructors. Although also it seems not many that did a lot of preparation.
I forgot it was filmed before the last aired season until I saw the masks. I think the Covid protocols were that if they were inside they wore masks? Hard to remember where we were with that in Fall 2022. I definitely laughed hard at the obviously going to be eliminated team trying to get their car unstuck. Although some of my laughing was I could totally see me doing that – I have a tendency to drive into places that are hard to get out of. Commenters on Facebook posts are asking why they didn’t just back up, and I have to admit I didn’t think of that when I saw them get stuck. Although my mind was wondering if they could get a couple of people to pick up one end and swing it around.
Rather than doing a 78-point turn (!), they should have simply backed the car down the street.
I’m still unclear about why the last team was eliminated if it was a “still racing” mat.
I also wondered why they didn’t just back up instead of trying to turn around.
No one is standing out to me yet, but the military guys are strong players.
I may need to rewatch, it seemed like it went by very quickly.
Phil said at the outset that there were no non-elimination legs. A “leg” is defined as a section of the race culminating in a mat check-in, not as a mat check-in plus rest period.
