Amazing Race 23

I was very disappointed in Nicole’s behavior at the road block. As ER doctors, shouldn’t they be better able to handle stressful situations?

I figured the ice crew girls would be the one to go this week. They couldn’t handle being front runners because it left them with nobody to follow.

My favorite team is Jason and Amy. I had liked the doctors until this week.

Isn’t there a team made up of a married couple, who are now separated, trying to determine if they can get back together?

I thought the challenges this week were great, not particularly hard, but very diverse.

I thought Nicole (ER doc) made an ass of herself this week. And while I don’t think the Afganimals are who I will be rooting for at the end, I do think they play the game as it is intended. I mean, come on, there’s a million bucks at stake here!

This has been an awesome finale!

I’m feeling sorry for Nicole. I think she’d do a lot better if her husband was the least bit supportive instead of being so critical and condescending. I wonder if he could do those challenges any better than her.

Fingers are crossed for Jason and Amy!

I know. Ds was saying that Travis is going to watch this and cringe.

I was glad the Afghanimals were eliminated – only to see that they’re going to be on Amazing Race 24 :(

GREAT last two episodes! We were on the edge of our seats!!

Mr. Doc was a total jerk. Hope his kids tell him so when he gets home.

So, so happy with the outcome. Very well deserved. What a cute couple. He is was so encouraging. That glacier task - yikes , that would have done me in!!

And how about that 60/40 agreement? She was a strong competitor but man, I can’t see her in a relationship.

I didn’t see anything about season 24!!! All stars???

I agree that it was a great finale. I’m very happy with the winners! Travis acted like a total jerk to his wife. If he was my doctor, I’d never go to him again.

Yes, abasket, in February, Season 24 is going to be another All Star season! Looked like the Globetrotters, Leo and Jamal, Joey and Meghan, Jet and Cord. I’ve heard rumors that Margie and Luke are back as is Mallory although not with her Dad. Also heard that the team who stupidly left with an express pass will be back but I don’t recall their names.

Jet and Cord - oh my gravy!!! Sounds like fun - already looking forward to it!

I’m very glad Jason and Amy won. Yes, Travis was a jerk, but Nicole consistently had trouble with tasks, would get very flustered, and then shut down.

I missed part of the first part of the finale. When I got interrupted (after bowling and phone booth), the Afghanimals were in first and Tim & Marie were in last. When they got to the pitstop, it was reversed. Did the speed bump slow down the guys? I did see that 2 teams had alot of trouble with that sculpture.

Tim is a saint for putting up with Marie. She negotiated a 60/40 split of prize money with him…really?

The speed bump barely slowed them down at all. It was pretty silly. Marie just rocked at building the sculpture, and Leo (?) didn’t figure out that he had one piece of pipe backward, so that the yellow dots were on the back instead of the front. I thought it was interesting that Amy picked up on it right away.

I’m glad Jason and Amy won, too. They were so nice to Travis and Nicole throughout. I think it’s interesting, but not surprising, that the Afghanimals were brought back. They like big personalities.

I am glad that Jason and Amy won.

I would have been happier if hypocritical doctors got fourth, but I will settle for a third.

I don’t know why afganimals rubbed so many people the wrong way, but in a way I found them endearing.

I found the 60/40 split hilarious. I think Tim is hopelessly in love with Marie. Someone has to kick in the head so that he can snap out from her spell. In a way, I think she loves him too, but she does not appreciate him at all.

Great finale overall.

I agree about the Afghanimals. I watched the finale with ds1, who is home from college and hadn’t seen it all season. I was giving him the rundown on who’s who, and I had a difficult time explaining the Afghanimals. I said people don’t like them but that they’re not really awful, they just like to mess with people. Tim and Marie not only lied about the bags and the taxi but then tried to blame it on other people. That’s a lot more devious to me.

Tim came off like a mimbo in the finale. And yet, I wouldn’t kick him out of bed. ;)

I’m surprised that Marie didn’t find another sucker…er I mean partner for the All Stars Season coming soon. The totem pole road block would have been better had we been able to actually read each one to see what the currency was. They edited it down too much.

I wonder if the original plan was to finish in Alaska? They often have the finalists fly from there to a city on the mainland. Cost or time savings maybe?

I purchased the AR 2 season for my dtr for Christmas. I don’t recognize most of the teams or the legs. She will let me borrow it I hope.

Tony, I wondered the same thing about whether there were some last-minute changes. I doubt they could change the venue short of an emergency, but I was thinking that the final tasks were really physical – even the memory task – and wondered whether they have some flexibility to tailor the events to the remaining teams.

BTW, props to Nicole for scaling that ice wall with just one hook.

When Team Boston finished their totem poles, they showed a shot of their completed poles and you could sort of see the other teams poles (almost like they each had a side of a triangle and couldn’t see what each other was doing) and they appeared to be empty poles on Team Doc and Team Pink Hair - so I wonder if Team Boston was actually a fair bit ahead of the other teams in getting them put together.

It was a very good finale - lots of challenging tasks.

I’m glad Jason/Amy won. They ended up to be one of the nicest and strongest teams throughout.

I’m very glad Marie/Tim didn’t win. I can’t stand her and he’s a wimp letting her walk all over him - including the ridiculous “60/40” split thing. I’m actually surprised the show doesn’t do the split 50/50 themselves contractually since some of the contestants aren’t even related and could have some falling out. maybe the show does that and then he’ll write her a check with whatever his winnings are. What a despicable person Marie is.

I really didn’t like the way Travis was treating Nicole. Although clearly Nicole hasn’t done well in the last several challenges, and would have failed even more miserably without Amy’s over the top help, Nicole/Travis were still a team and it was clear Nicole was already disappointed in herself and there was no need for him to add to it. they made such a big deal about setting an example for their kids that that’s all I was thinking of when he was acting that way (and when she was begging for help when she shouldn’t have been) - not much of an example.

I still like the Afghanimals and wouldn’t have minded seeing them continue on.

I’m disappointed to hear that the next season will be a rerun of the teams. I much prefer to see new sets of people compete. These people all already all had their chance. I think it’s better to give new people a chance and to introduce the new sets of personalities. (But I’m sure I’ll watch it anyway)

It was smart game play for Amy to help Nicole, thus eliminating Leo and Jamal, who would have been stronger competitors in the finale.

I think I might need to go back on what I just said about the rerun teams in the next AR. This AR23 started at the end of September but the next one, AR24, starts in February so maybe it’s a ‘bonus’ AR and they’ll still do a ‘regular’ one next September. If that’s the case then I welcome the extra AR even with the former contestants.
