Amazing Race 24 All Stars

I think the Afghanimals are much more likable this season. I don’t know if they watched themselves and decided to be kinder this time around.

^^^ I think it’s still all about the editing - and how the cameras choose to portray the moments they put on the screen.

I agree with everything everyone has said. (In case you were worried that I wouldn’t.)

I thought I heard the Afghanimals say in one of their interviews on camera that they realized they weren’t very likable last time and were trying to change that this time around. I was sad to see the Globetrotters go but in both of the legs where they really got in trouble, they hadn’t read the clue well. Connor and Dave figured out the donkey basket by re-reading the clue and you’d think the Globetrotters would have learned after the Roman numeral challenge that they need to read the clues carefully. I’m liking anybody and everybody except Brenchel.

I do not wish to U-Turn TempeMom.

The teams have all been around the block so to speak so it should be very simple. If they are struggling with a detour it could be they had not read all of the clue correctly. Both of them should read it out loud slowly. Discuss what part of the clue is causing a problem and then make changes. Some of the teams in the early seasons were excellent at pinpointing where they went wrong and correcting it. The cameramen/women must be biting their tongues and trying not to laugh I’ll bet. After a few hours of following two turkeys around a city they must wish they could give a hint so everybody could get to the finish line and rest. They must draw straws to see which of them get stuck with the worst teams.

Another guaranteed eliminator is not knowing where the cabbie is taking you and hoping for the best. AR sometimes makes the destination vague or similar to another place. I recall many early teams had good maps and would get to computers to find directions. I think they cut out those parts of the show now.

^ ^ ^ ^

“I choose not to U-Turn Tempemom.” is what I should have written.

Another non-elimination leg for the country girls. The milk can marathon was a physical challenge and they had a big disadvantage.

When teams were looking around the billboard for clues to the year of their Mustang car, I thought of a faster way to find the year. If you look at the lights on the rear of most older cars you will see a two-digit year when the car was made…67 or 68, for example, plus more digits after it. Newer cars don’t have this feature.

I wasn’t sure if they had to find the numbers on the clue. A real car enthusiast (like my H) would be able to know the year just by glancing at the car.

That’s interesting about the year on the lights TonyK.

Clearly, this shows that the non-elims are pre-planned. Can’t believe the country girls get saved again - in ANOTHER race leg where they were helped immensely by other teams!!! I thought for sure there must be some rule that you can’t be non-elimed more than once - apparently not, or not if you’re cute and blonde!!!

Exciting episode last night! SOOOO close at the end for the top 3. Couldn’t believe that Dave and Connor won - thrilled, but couldn’t believe they nudged out an edge to beat the cowboys and Afganimals!

This was the wost episode in the entire series. I HATED the way the teams formed an alliance and helped each other–it totally ruined the challenge at the transportation museum (I’m sure it just kills the production staff to set up a nifty challenge and see it destroyed in a few minutes), where it would have been fun listening to everyone’s guesses about the giant drill and their legitimate results would have made the leg actually competitive. The only reason the ending was so close was that the teams weren’t competing with each other! What kind of a “race” is that? Helping other teams in that way should just be prohibited. It turns Amazing Race into Survivor. And if Dave and Connor, one of the most insufferable teams ever (“They U-turned me, and I’m old! They’re so mean! Wah! Brenchel is so mean! They actually follow the rules and try to win! Wah!)”), actually wins, I’ll be so disappointed. Cowboys all the way!

Normally I wouldn’t like that they formed an alliance, but I hate Brenchel (?) enough that it didn’t bother me.

I agree tx5athome. I don’t think they’d do it if it wasn’t Brenchel either.

I can’t believe how fortunate the country girls have been this season. I understand Leo and Jamal’s rationale for forming an alliance with them…who wouldn’t want the girls in the final 3. Without help from other teams, they don’t stand a chance.

It’ll be interesting to see if the alliance manages to get themselves into the final 3. The cowboys have done very well without being part of an alliance.

On the Mustang task, I think they needed to fill in the mileage numbers on a card to figure out the year of the car, so I’m assuming that just figuring out the year by checking the taillights wouldn’t have been sufficient to complete the task…

MommaJ, I agree with you. I mentioned last week that Dave is unbelievably annoying. Last night, he was worse. Good grief, man, so you’re 60 years old. Big deal. If you didn’t want to go on the show as a 60 year old, you should have allowed Connor to choose another teammate. The U-turn moaning was tiresome. And, yes, it is far past time for the girls to go home.

Nonelimination legs do tend to show up when there are one or two teams that are obviously at a profound disadvantage for reasons beyond their control—like this one where the all-female team was going to have problems because of strength issues or the DJ one where Margie and Luke really didn’t have the same choice as the other teams because of his disability.

Oh my gravy, the cowboys are gone!!!

Always liked and enjoyed them. The u-turn made the difference this time.

That bull task was CRAZY!!! I was cringing (waiting for someone to get hurt) and laughing hysterically at the same time!!!

Still cannot believe that the country girls manage to stay in the race.

Sad to see the cowboys go. I wish the Brenchels had been U-turned. Rachel’s whining is getting on my nerves.

I’m surprised that more people didn’t get injured in that bull task. It looked brutal.

I don’t see the country girls as a contender to win since they won’t be getting help from anyone by that point, but in TAR you never know what can happen.

Yes, and also should add that in addition to the u-turn, getting lost - more than once! - cost the cowboys as well.

It was a bad leg for the cowboys. Getting lost too many times is just carelessness.

I think TAR is lucky that someone wasn’t really hurt in that bull run.

The country girls live on, amazingly enough. I think they may be the least talented racers to ever get this far.

Two more weeks!

So I’m wondering if next week will be a continuing episode or if we will have our top 3 at the end of next week. The last couple of weeks the show has done a 2-hour finale - the first hour going from top 4 to top 3 and then the second hour, the top 3 for the win!
