Amazing Race 27

Just caught up tonight. Realized that I was likely in Paris SO close to the time that they were! They started the race on June 22 - I was in Paris June 30 and July1 - and it was 100+ degrees - just like when they were there. It would have been SOOOO cool to see them!!!

Green team guy is UBER annoying!

Two medical degrees between them, and the Korean team decides that “Rotterdam” is “just the French way of saying Amsterdam”! Needless to say, their knowledge of geography did not stand them in good stead when they needed to catch a train to Rotterdam . . .

Really, am I being unreasonable to expect that with that much education, they should know better?

I’m always amazed at the way some of the racers pronounce the names of the cities. Couldn’t believe the ones that were pronouncing the Hague as Hag-yoo!

Yes, that was really embarrassing.

Towards the end of the episode last night I said to DW, I don’t care which of these two teams gets eliminated. It’s a pretty mediocre season for me.

So much stupidity, geez Louise.

I wonder why they are portraying Justin to look like such a macho jerk - I mean, I can’t stand him - but is he really that way!!! Really was hoping the reporters would finish the ship task and take first.

I still find the mom to be kind of creepy for some reason but gotta give some props to the southern mom and son team - they DO NOT give up!!!

Can I talk y’all into declaring an early favorite for next season? I’m an ultimate frisbee fan, and these guys are big, big names in the sport. One is a cancer survivor.

I’m not sure I have a favorite team yet. I usually do by this point of the race. The cheerleaders are growing on me, and I don’t mind the reporters.

I haven’t watched enough this season to have a favorite. The move to Friday night is not a good one for me.

They sure look fun!

Am I the only one who watched Friday night’s episode???

Ugh, Justin is SOOO annoying! Wonder why they are setting the scene for him to look that way??? Seems they had things wrapped up from the start with the early flight. Nice.

Have to say I was glad to finally see a non-elim. That would have been CRUSHING to lose by literally a few steps. Kudos for the boys for playing it fair though.

Those photographers. They sure bicker a lot!!! I would love for the reporters to overtake Justin and chick. And wow, the mom and son are picking up steam!

I watched. I’m not a big TV watcher but Amazing Race is my number 1 must watch. It was an adjustment to Friday night but I think my mind has finally adjusted. I also have the series on auto record for when I’m not home on Friday night.
I’m liking the reporters. I think they work well together as a team, they are respectful to each other with little bickering and respectful of the places they travel. As I mentioned in a earlier post I see Kelsey on the news and my opinion of her has always been she is okay but her age and inexperience shows. As a parent of children in her age range I have also always thought she has the dream job of so many. I hope she takes some of the confidence she shows on the race and brings it back to her job. Joey works for a sister station and I haven’t watched him on air prior to the race. I think they make a good team.
I think the mother son are looking less scary as she seems to have lost some of her makeup. The photographers need to go. Another kudos to the Texas boys.

Every season, they edit the show to create certain personas. It’s interesting because if you read some of the interviews once a season is over, the story portrayed on the broadcasts isn’t always factual. I guess they somehow feel that it makes it more interesting, but I just find it annoying.

I haven’t found this season all that exciting, and I love TAR. I think it may be because TAR Canada ended just before this current season began and TAR Canada was a terrific season. This one is boring me in most episodes.

Yes, I agree they do that but I also think they do it for a reason - either that that couple gets karma OR that they are building them up for a trip to the finale where they either get the win or get sideswiped. Something is up their sleeve!

I hate it when they have cultural/religious ‘events’ in the race. They did it in Japan and some of the other countries, and the teams are racing and elbowing each other, and then they are supposed to stop and be respectful of the museums or a memorial. Maybe they make every team take the same amount of time in those stops and just don’t tell us, as in ‘this tour takes 30 minutes and if you rush, you’ll sit for the extra time’.

I also thought the double dutch challenge last week was unfair. You either know how to do it or you don’t, and I don’t think there is any way the guys could do it and a hand slap routine if they’d never done it before. They were all lucky they didn’t pick that one.

I thought that last night - that likely each team is given a timeframe to spend at the memorial no matter what.

I just realized who James Earl reminds me of – it’s Dooneese on SNL, Kristen Wiig’s character with the high forehead and tiny hands.

Sorry to see the Dallas boys go home. I was so hoping Jason and Diana would get u-turned and be eliminated.

That was the toughest Speed Bump I think I’ve ever seen on AR. I remember past Speed Bumps having teams eat ice cream or figuring out a gas and oil measurement. Jeez.

Sad to see the Texas boys go. Definitely that Speed Bump was extra time-consuming, although I guess if anyone else had been U-turned they would have had a chance. I am really tired of watching the green team win. The paparazzi bicker too much. You got to give James Earls mom credit, she is a trooper. The cheerleaders have a good attitude so I think I am rooting for them.
