Amazing Race Season 22 tonight! Spoiler thread!!

Wow, it was a gorgeous scene in that plane ride over the terrain!

I’m just disappointed that there are no teams that I’m attached to this season now that the dad and son are gone. :(

I usually don’t mind YouTube guy but he was bugging me last night. If I’m being honest, my favorite team right now (just because their mentality kind of cracks me up) is Max and Katie, the newlyweds. Her comment about hiding the fact that she is so smart - haha - guess she’s playing the “dumb blonde” card in her mind!!

How about Mullet’s (Chuck?) comment that so far he and his wife “aren’t even talking divorce or anything”. - yikes!

I missed the beginning of the episode, so thanks for mentioning the apology.

If I had to pick a favorite team at this point, it would probably be the hockey brothers, but they’re not a strong favorite. It could be a different team by next week.

Wondering if ARace has ever had a team have to drop out in the midst of the race (like Dave and Connor) - drop out not related to not finishing a task??? I have watched many, many seasons but not the first couple plus my memory might not be coming up with a circumstance when someone did…

I can’t recall anything similar . . . and I’ve watched every episode. The only thing even vaguely similar was the team that lost one of their passports in Russia . . . but that put them in breach of race rules, so they were forced to quit.

We are always talking about how nice and encouraging Chuck is to his wife. She seems to be shown complaining a lot, whether it’s about him, how much younger everyone is, how hard something is. He just seems really nice.

I don’t know if I have any real favorites. I don’t like the youtubers. The country girls and hockey players are perfect together, boring personalities, boring to watch.

The roller derby moms are okay, but they are not a strong team. The Asian girls are fine, and that one always has some amusing comment that makes us laugh. I like Max and Katie enough; I still wonder if she’s his cover but just not experienced enough to know it. I do like Katie. Early on, she said she was not comfortable interacting with other people, and I can relate to that.

No one is standing out as an especially physically or mentally strong team, imo. But the scenery’s been gorgeous, and they’ve had different challenges than what we’ve seen in past seasons.

I like Chuck and his wife. :D

I’m glad CBS posted the apology. It’s too bad whoever selected and approved the venues were so clueless about how those events would be perceived by some people.

The mullet guy’s wife looked like she barely made it to the finish and once she was there she looked like she was about to pass out. She’s seriously not in shape for the race.

I thought it was kind of funny that the self-described ‘smart’ newlywed came in last. I was hoping they’d get kicked off.

I can’t stand the youtube guy. He’s way to showy and extroverted for me.

It’s funny how many comments the hockey players make about how interested they are in the country singers.

I agree that there are no standout strong teams this year.

zoeydoggie:
How was Botswana? Did you do some safari there?

My favorite part was when they subtitled what the bushmen were saying!

Joey: “I’m a scorpion master!”

Bushman: " He was very frightened."

YDS, my husband was making up things that the bushmen could have been saying along those same lines (what crazy kids, etc.) I was just thinking, who was the translator in the car, the cameraman? Would they have a camera man and a translator? Oh, I guess if it was on tape, they could just translate afterward. But the teams and the cameraman might not have known what was being said in the moment.

Who knows, I just love this show. It must be a blast to be Phil or on the crew.

Youdon’tsay, I loved that clip, too. Very cute!

Interesting choice of words there, gladgraddad.

So, has anyone found out yet what the bushmen do with the scorpions they catch?

Ahhh, found it! Poison tip arrows for hunting game.

GladGradDad–Yes. Abu Camp elephant back safari. Every morning I woke up and asked my husband if it was real.

I thoroughly enjoyed this last episode. The game is more of a game this season and I like that. Challenges (so far) that most everyone can do, to one extent or another, and many where it’s anyone’s potential win (more luck than skill based).

I still like the YouTubers (although I must say he certainly outdid himself with his flamboyancy), and while I am still cheering the Roller Derby Moms, i think they’re getting tired. The older couple (I don’t recall their names right now) are kind of interesting and I like them more each week. Now we learned the married weird couple (he wore a button down shirt with a collar on the Amazing Race…DURING a race!!!) that she holds a doctorate. Weird.

Looking forward to next week.

Katie used to be one of the Buffalo Bills cheerleaders. She was studying to be a pharmacist, not sure if she’s finished school yet or not. I saw a story on the Buffalo news about them last fall when the teams for this season were announced.

And who, exactly, pays for the damage to the car?

So sad to see Winnie and Pam go - they were my favorites. Why couldn’t it have been Joey and Megan or Max and Katie? Now I’m rooting for Bates and Anthony or the roller derby girls.

Loved those cute baby goats :).

Also sad to see the girls go but they made such a careless mistake. Very frustrating! Yay for the hockey boys!

The task with the goats was a difficult one, or at least they edited it to make it look difficult. :)

The cars would have to be insured, and I would hope that AR would pick up the deductible for Max. It’s not the first car accident on AR, although I don’t specifically remember the last one.

Where does the money for the speeding ticket come from? Why did she have American money on her?

And interesting that the town would set up a speed trap just as the big American tv show is coming through town. It was pretty funny when the singer was protesting, “But I was going 90km!” but the speed limit was 60km.

The hockey boys seem to be the only contenders, really. They are the only all-male team, they are physically strongest. Leaving first on last night’s show, then completing the Fast Forward puts their lead even further ahead, unless they get stuck waiting for a flight, or overnight waiting for the next activity to open.

I wish there was a team that I was really rooting for. At least there’s only one person I don’t like (Joey), and chances are slim they’ll go much further.

Since they’re flying to Europe from Africa in the next episode, it’s likely that the hockey players’ lead will be diminished waiting for flights.

I don’t ever remember any other contestants getting traffic tickets. I’m glad they were still in the race after having to deal with that.

There was a situation with traffic tickets in a previous season several years ago, although I don’t remember the details. I do recall that it happened in an Asian country. My guess is that the speedtrap was not there coincidentally. Keep in mind that one of the rules of TAR is that all speed limits must be obeyed. The production people who travel with each team are required to report any speeding, and it can result in a time penalty at the mat.

Unless there is a limit on the number on the first flight out at the beginning of the next leg, the Battaglia boys’ lead will fall victim to the dreaded bunching.
