I’m still eyeing the puzzle table and trying to ignore all the other marketing efforts to get me to impulse buy before Prime Day ends. Let’s be real… I’m getting the puzzle table. haha
(Cross posted on the Weight Loss Drug thread)
I just bought smaller (8 inch) plates. I love that my Correll plates take up almost no room in my cubbard, so adding 6 more isn’t a big deal. As I tend to be a “plate filler”, I’m hoping a smaller plate forces me to cut down on portions.
I ended up ordering quite a few things, in a few categories:
-
Items I use frequently to get refills at a good price, such as the moisturizers and facial serums I use
-
Some exciting clothing items like new underwear and wide-width shoes. It’s very difficult to find shoes in a wide width in person so I typically purchase them online (and send a lot of them back!).
-
My D is getting married in a few weeks and I splurged on a dressy handbag (less than $30) for the wedding and some inexpensive earrings (less than $10) since I didn’t really have anything that went with my MOB dress
-
A new travel purse since I started having issues with my current travel purse this past week while on a work trip. The current one was a repurchase but I decided to switch brands after having recurring issues.
I’ve received most items but a few are scheduled to arrive today and tomorrow.
One of my personal splurges was a new work backpack. The one I chose is typically $200+ and it was on a great Prime Day sale. I just got a notification that my order was canceled due to lack of inventory. Ugh. And of course today the available colors are back to the original pricing. So I’m moving this item back to my “Shopping List” and will keep an eye on it for a potential future sale (or add it to my Christmas wish list and see if anyone loves me that much… hahaha).
I have been keeping an eye on a new Oral-B electric toothbrush and mine is old and I keep thinking it is going to die without notice. Costco has the one I decided on after too much research, but it is for 2, and I only need one. Amazon had the model up from the one I wanted for $100 off, original price was $219, which is a nice price. I kept it in my cart and decided days later that I really didn’t need it as mine still works and I have 4 replacement heads left! I now have the opposite of buyers remorse and kicking myself for not getting it. I will now wait for the next Prime Day!
I did order a couple of pairs of good, cheap sunglasses that I have been hearing about. I can not read with my prescription sunglasses, so need non prescription when at the beach. The pair I really think I am going to like has been traveling all the Amazon hubs in my metro area, multiple times; I use metro loosely as 2 of the 3 are 55-65 miles away! It is finally back to my delivery hub, so maybe it will show today or tomorrow, although they were expected 2 days ago.
Costco puts those toothbrushes on sale often. No worries
I was an Oral-B user for years. I believed all the hype about them. When mine went a few years ago, and I really wanted a black one (weird, I know), I couldn’t resist the price on this one. I decided to try it, as it was cheaper than just the heads of my Oral-B and returnable. Wasn’t sure how I would feel going back to an elongated brush over the round brush, but I love it. I swear my teeth feel cleaner and my dentist agrees. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072YVWBXH?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_2
I considered some of my facial products but decided to look on the brands website and they also had a sale.
From Amazon my husband ordered a few things. I ended up with the frother @abasket linked early on in this thread and some glass storage containers.
The best was much of it came yesterday when my 3 yr old GS was here. We have a long driveway and he loves going down with his wheelbarrow and picking up the packages and delivering them to my doorstep.
I started a 30 day trial membership for a few Prime deals. However, for the most part, Prime deals were disappointing and often not deals at all. As an example, I was interested in the water bottle picture below. Price increased by 30% just before Prime Day, so price could drop by 30% for Prime Day.
Looking at price history, among the products I purchased my net savings over historical norm prices was ~$10. These products include the dog water bottle pictured below, 2 collars (one LED light, and one glow in dark with name / phone printed), 2 ChuckIt ultra squeaker balls, 2 car USB charges, and a brand of slip on walking shoes that I like. I’ll likely return one of the USB chargers and one of the collars, keeping whichever of the 2 I prefer. I am more interested in catching up on the new (to me) seasons of some Prime Video series – Reacher, The Boys, Outer Range, Invincible, …
I also look at the price history and fortunately didn’t see that game-playing for the items i either considered or bought. I looked this morning at a few things I had considered but didn’t buy and the prices are higher this morning.
I ordered an ironing board and a puzzle. No deals for me
Did I order things? Yes. Did I get great deals? I don’t think so.
I’m happy I got the puzzle board that started my Christmas shopping but will it be cheaper again in the fall? Probably.
This is a good reminder of the value of using an Amazon wish list. Even if I didn’t save oodles on single items, collectively buying some things I needed/desired and would likely buy eventually anyway, the savings added up.
I am really liking a pair of over the ear earbuds that were supposedly 80+% off
Is anyone experiencing shipping delays or long delivery windows for your orders? I ordered three toy items for GS’s birthday on 7/9. We are driving several states away to their house and planned to bring the gifts with us. One item was supposed to arrive today and now is arriving on Wednesday. The other two items are supposed to arrive 7/15-19 but haven’t shipped yet and I’m worried they won’t arrive before we leave on the 20th. Why is it taking so long??
I clicked the button to get extra % on my visa for delayed delivery (due on July 16). I did get a notice today that something(s) that cost $41.xx has shipped and will be here Wed. No info about the rest of the order (about $200 total). Also no info about a vitamin order through my insurance but that ships through Amazon and was supposed to be delivered today or tomorrow.
We’ll see.
Delay for a Costco order. Didn’t make any Amazon Prime day purchases.
I clicked the delayed delivery for the extra VISA % and everything arrived the next day anyway. I do think there are very well stocked warehouses in the San Diego area. There are often options for same day or early next day delivery. Amusingly (to me), Amazon often shows quicker delivery to us than to son in Seattle for an item. We would get one day; he would get two days.
That can also be because of the ground delivery available in your area. I used to always get things in the a.m., but now sometimes things don’t come until 9 at night (a problem because I’m often in bed) or even the next day. Sometimes they don’t have enough drivers or the delivery routes are delayed by construction.
What amazes me is if I order 3 things and I think 2 are related (like both groceries, both electronics), I’ll get 2 of the 3 delivered in the same package, but they aren’t the 2 related items.
Just got an email saying the two items have shipped and will arrive tomorrow, so I should have everything in time!
