I was underwhelmed with the sales - it was no Black Friday or Cyber Monday. I think S1 nailed when he described Amazon Prime Day as a “clearing out the warehouse” sale.
Bought a golf ball ‘shag bag’ last night from Amazon for $31.16. Should get it by the 18th…my birthday! Amazon is convenient for buying items I can’t just run over to and buy at local Walmart store.
Amazon’s going to become like MySpace soon.
Also, this is irrelevant, but I’m pulling/pulled an all-nighter. @-) ~O)
Was lucky to have bought the Fire TV Stick before it sold out. Late last night Son used the 30% discount on Clothing & Fashion items to buy a pair of Ray Ban sunglasses in the last half hour of the sale.
Prime Day did not live up to the hype. Agree that it was a gimmick to get people to enroll in Prime.
^^ Stugace, why are you spewing non-sense about a company you know nothing about and are not a member of?
The company has revolutionized our markets and introduced technology one dreams about. Spend your money with other retailers and online competitors, and you might understand why some of us here LOVE to patronize the company. They offer great service and always assume the responsibility of their failures, including the ones of third parties. They ship fast in good boxes. The prices are clearly shown and the selection is vast. Try that with others!
Perfection is an impossible standard. Nobody is! Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but try to rely on facts that are closer to the reality. A good start might be to actually learn a bit about the company or … use them!
Lol, take a breather. It’s almost as if you have some type of bone to pick with me.
I’ve used Amazon a bunch of times and know plenty about it. It is, however, aging and will in fact fall over to the newer retailers like Jet in the future. Remember when Ebay was popular?
^^ that explanation might work better with your playground buddies!
In the meantime, http://techcrunch.com/2015/07/15/despite-complaints-consumer-demand-for-amazon-prime-day-was-huge/#.kwhv3y:ggi5
The REAL question we have to ask ourselves is if July 15th would have been better without Amazon? Consumers won if they shopped at Amazon or at the retailers that countered with their own promotions.
Pioneers tend to return home with arrows in their back. Amazon remains an innovative company that learns about its customers with a vengeance and …anticipates the future. It also prompts imitators that find it hard to come close.
I hope jet.com will work for you and the malcontent freeloaders.
I ordered a comforter on BB&B Sunday evening and when I go to track my order it says that it is still processing. What the heck?! If it were Amazon I would have had it by about 4pm on Tuesday. I love the predictability of knowing when I will receive what I ordered.
Jet actually requires a paid membership to use unlike Amazon. Forget the facts, though, you’re right as always.
Anyway, I ordered a digital camera from Amazon to use on a trip to my future college, but they never informed me it sold out while it was being processed and kept my order as a “processing” status instead of picking up the phone and calling me. Very reliable customer service.
SF, I just received tracking of all my orders of yesterday and Friday confirmation. I might not have scored a Vitamix for 300 dollars or a KA for 150, but it worked for me.
Prime day flop or not, Amazon ain’t goin’ nowhere.
As long as I need cat food, cat litter, and vitamin pills, it will stay in business.
ETA - and coffee. Definitely coffee, the anti-typo elixir.
Our family members are big Amazon customers. It’s so much easier to have items delivered to my front door than going to the stores to hunt for something I want.
I did manage to get a few deeply discounted items for my daughter yesterday and they are arriving at her NYC apt by 8PM tonight.
What is there not to like?

Should I ignore the discussions about getting free access to jet.com through free invites? Not that it matters as I am a very happy Amazon customer who thinks the 99 dollars a year is a bargain. If you had such a membership, you might appreciate AZ better.
In more than a decade, I have yet to have an unresolved issue in spite of a few poor shippers. That is a great record. I have used the international AZ sites with great success.
I was very happy with my purchases yesterday with great prices. I use a number of online sources and find AZ the best overall.
I think millions agree with me.
I agree with xiggi.
The point will be how Amazon can evolve successfully to match market interest in some new twist the competition brings. If the competition is successful, that is. It’s a wait and see. Amazon is great from a customer perspective, but is very dependent on the parts you don’t see.
It bugged me that Prime Day was on the 15th. Couldn’t they have picked the 17th, 19th, or the 23rd?
(Sorry, maybe that belonged in “Why is this a thread?”)
Meanwhile, Bezos is, and other stockholders are, laughing all the way to the bank, as AMZN hits all the analysts’ talks in the past few days and the number of website clicks increased exponentially. Interesting…
^ One great way to offset the cost of the membership is to buy one share of Amazon. Has worked pretty well. The same thing applies to offsetting a SBUX appetite with a few shares.
^ As far as I know Amazon Inc doesn’t pay dividends, so I’m not sure how buying stock would help offset membership.
What am I missing here?
Well . . . the comforter that I ordered on the 13th from Bed Bath and Beyond just finished “processing” and sent label information to the shipper today. I am supposed to get it on the 23rd. I’m sitting her wishing that I’d found a better one on Amazon.
