On the other hand, I almost felt that Harry was saying “no” to auditioners who he thought had no chance of winning the whole thing. In other words, I felt he was really “looking down the road.”

This is the first season in many years where I have been interested in watching American Idol. This first “Hollywood” show is intriguing. I’ve never seen this done, and apparently it’s a new thing.

"Somebody’s gonna hurt someone
before the night is through
Somebody’s gonna come undone.
There’s nothin’ we can do.
Everybody wants to touch somebody
if it takes all night.
Everybody wants to take a little chance,
Make it come out right.

There’s gonna be a heartache tonight,
a heartache tonight, I know.
There’s gonna be a heartache tonight, I know.
Lord, I know. "

Like the young guy that sang “He stopped loving her today” Cant remember his name, just that he was a father of two.

Is that the blonde country-ish singer Sistersunnie??? I’m drawing a blank on his name - Casey? I don’t like country but there is something I DO like about him!
My other current favorite is Majesty - a young black woman who is a preschool teacher. Beautiful, clear voice and just a little quirkiness! (she reminds me of a grown up “Rue” from Hunger Games!) Also a handsome young guy who played the keyboard (after the airport hangar). And Savion - the guy whose brother recently died.

It seemed like the people they got rid of at the hangar were all the people that Harry said shouldn’t have been given a golden ticket in the first place!!! (go harry!!!)

True.

I’ve got to say, though, that the way they did this (the producers, not the judges) was a little cold blooded. Poor kids.

Yes abasket, he’s the one.

abasket, I agree with you about Majesty. She’s wonderful. I also love Spencer from the Austin auditions. What a beautiful voice.

I didn’t like the added elimination at the hangar. Most of those kids should never have been sent to Hollywood. I think it was the largest number ever to get the golden tickets, wasn’t it?

^^^The producers’ way of mopping up the judges’ mistakes I guess?

I think you’re right, Nrdsb4. It shouldn’t surprise me but it does every year, when so many kids don’t know the words to the songs they’re supposed to sing in the group performance. It’s ridiculous. I always enjoy watching Hollywood week, with all the drama, and usually some really nice performances. Last night’s episode certainly had lots of drama, but not many good performances, in my opinion. And the mom of that one girl who was the only one in her group sent home? Wow, what a fool she made of herself with her nastiness. I felt sorry for her daughter.

^^^^LOL, yes, what a piece of work that mother was.

As to forgetting the words…I remember taking a ballet class when I was really young. Every lesson was spent rehearsing for our recital. I was only 5 or 6, and to this day, I remember the recital came, my little group went onstage, and I had absolutely no clue what to do. It was as if I had never been to class. I don’t know if I got nervous and went blank, or it I had just never paid much attention in the first place. I think my parents were absolutely mortified, lol.

I thought the hangar drama was interesting, because it was unexpected. I think group night always shows those who have very little idea of what it really is going to take to be an idol. The overbearing mom attacking the 20 something with pink hair was hard to watch. Kudos for the 20 something to know when to walk away. Felt bad for the girl cut and her mother’s scene. It actually made me wonder if in fact she -the mother- wasn’t part of he reason she was cut. Surely they were aware of her interference in the group event. It was filmed. Still enjoy Harry’s antics, like quitting as a judge. The contestants seemed to like his lightening the mood. My favorite was the country boy band mainly because they were drama free and fun to watch. Does anyone else see the young Bob Seeger in the group?

I love IDOL! I didn’t watch last year because Nikki M. was annoying. I love the judges this year but I do find Harry kind of obnoxious at times. Keith is cool. JLO is so beautiful. Lots of great singers. Was disappointed that the heavy set African American woman ( don’t know her name), decided to leave the show. I thought she had a great voice and presence.

You mean tequila the funeral singer. I was so surprised also.

They really need someone like him. A)He knows his stuff and B)He is the only one who has no problem being frank-not rude like Simon, but honest and direct. Keith and JLo are too passive at times. I get they don’t want to hurt people’s feelings, but there’s no way to avoid that, no matter how polite you try to be. By definition, this show is a process of elimination, and rejection hurts. I like how Harry is very specific with his criticisms, unlike Simon, who would simply say something was “retched” or “abominable.” Harry gives them something they can take away and work on.

Thought the elimination show tonight was great! The top-30 this year (15 guys and 15 gals) are quite diverse, at least with the first half that were selected on Wednesday night. I like quite a few of them already!

I hope the “Stage Mom” was watching when (can’t remember her name) the girl with the black/pink hair made it through. I’m sure it was a bitter pill to swallow that she made it while Stage Mom’s little star didn’t. Sweet.

Simon Cowell may be looking for a job. His X factor show got x’ed out of TV.

I wish stage moms didn’t have to act like…well embarrassing stage moms.

During the sing-off last night, I preferred the other girl though. I thought the judges would pick Jesse because I heard Keith saying she was compelling.

One contestant named Jillian used to be a contestant of X-Factor. I remember her because she openly talked about her being bullied at school and she was crying all the time. She looks more calm and confident now.

I like Alex. I hope he stays around for awhile but J.Lo seems hypnotized by the less impressive Spencer.

On Thursday night’s elimination, I was surprised Savion Wright got sent home. With one men’s spot left up to the voters to decide, I’m hopeful that it is Ben Briley. However if he does get more votes than Nico, there will be an excess of male, “Alabama”, country talent.

Is it OK to mention that my cousin is on the show? I will anyway.

His name is Sam Woolf. He did an original song this week.

So please cast your 50 votes - or whatever they let you do online - for Sam.
