Did anyone see this tweet? Alejandro - your phone is likely ringing off the hook!
March 6th, 2019
Last night on American Idol ~ (day off) I was just ready to push “Guide” for the next hour and on walked this quiet soft spoken guy and something about him ~ said “Don’t change the channel.” When he started to play the first chords ~ I started to cry~ I cried all through his guitar song and all through his piano song.
My prophecy~ He will play and sing across the great stages of the world. He will play with 60 piece orchestras and he will play alone. I felt, as did the judges , that I was suspended in some sort of magical grace that was just simply overwhelming. My tears did not stop until he stopped.
So, Alejandro, let me welcome you to the grand stage that will be your home for the rest of your extraordinary life~
Ok, I just relistened to the top 20 performances with earbuds in and eyes closed. For me, this is how I can tell if I’d buy their songs and listen to them on the radio.
I’m liking all of the guys! I think the top five will be Alejandro, Wade, Walker, Laine, and Jeremiah … or Uche… or Dimitrius. If I have to pick from the women, Raquel, Laci, and Ashley are my top picks. I’m so impressed with the talent this year. Even guys like Ryan, who is really good and might have been a top pick for me other years, may not have enough to make the cut this year.
I liked how they revealed the top 20 this year. I remember years past where there was one entire show devoted entirely to just results and we had to watch them walk down a loooong hallway or looooong aisle to get to the Place of Judgment. Watching them walk down was so boring! LOL

Will miss not having Allen Stone. Really liked him last season.
I thought most of them were very good! I guess I agree with the three who were cut. I kinda liked one of them, but I don’t know whom I would have cut in his place.
I thought Ashley was back to her best, like her original audition.
Hoping the Monday night show has a little more sizzle. Thought it was a little boring overall. I was a huge Laine Hardy fan last season and, now, ABC (and Katy) has almost gotten me to hate this kid. Katy called him a rock star. Really? Laci was my favorite artist. Ashley, my favorite singer. Now that I have been thoroughly entertained by Uché, I want to see him perform a song in the coming weeks that is mostly about his vocals.
Recording BOTH Idol and the Voice and watching the NCAA finals, but I did happen to catch the YouTube clips of the All-Star Duets night 2. Dimitrius and Jeremiah… wow!
I am probably leaning towards Laci Booth. She was my early favorite and I’m kind of sticking with her. I was sorry to see Ryan Hammond go home. I thought he was really solid tonight. I have not liked Alyssa Raghu most of the season, but I liked her tonight.
My “favorite five” of this season:
Laci Booth
Jeremiah Harmon
Ashley Hess
Dimitrius Graham
Uché
I hope Dimitrius FINALLY hit more radar screens after tonight’s performance!
Thought Dimitrius was most wonderful last night. Even my H, who usually suffers through the show, looked up from his work and pronounced that duet excellent. He also was impressed with Chris Isaak holding that high note for so long!
Still not a fan of Evelyn.
Curious to see what Alejandro will do with some of the genres, will he take every single song he is given and turn it into a cool jam where he can wear a beanie and play acoustic guitar? Disco? Motown? Motley Crue night (though an acoustic version of Girls Girls Girls might be interesting)? I think he has a definite comfort zone and I’m not sure he has had to step out of it yet. He is absolutely talented but I went back and watched all of his performances so far and they are all the same vibe----slow to medium tempo, acoustic guitar, soft high vocal. I get “knowing who you are as an artist” but for me it’s all blending together a bit. I would like to see him without the guitar, even just once.
Of the people who went home, I thought Ryan deserved to stay. His duet wasn’t the best but I still liked his voice…
