Now that the auditions are over, I’m liking the judges better also, especially Lionel Richie.
I want to hear every song that Catie Turner has written! This young woman is an amazing song writer! Quirky and truthful.

I believe 5 artists will be eliminated this Monday 4/9 and next Monday 4/16, resulting in the Top-14. Enjoy the performances!
I can’t believe they are encouraging Catie Turner to be so silly. She annoys me so much I don’t even like her voice any more. And Laila was being encouraged to start being just as goofy. Girls, please, just no.
I have not seen the show on Hulu yet but I did see all the group 1 solos on YouTube. I just don’t get the Catie Turner fan following. I think we must be in the minority, musicmom. It is as if they are asking her to be a caricature of her truer self. She has a pleasant enough voice but, imo, she can NOT sing covers. She should stick to songwriting.
Just saw the Monday Group 1 solos on Hulu. Disappointed overall. Many questionable song choices. Judges were overly generous with their praise of performances that were just mediocre (CatiecTurner, Layla Spring, Michelle Sussett). A little too harsh on others (Brandon Diaz). Biggest disappointment for me: Michelle Sussett. Off my favorites list. I think Gabby Barrett had a good performance and will only get better if she makes the cut. My favorite performance: Cade Foehner. Became my favorite male in Hollywood Week and still is.
They need to replace Katy Perry for the remainder of the season. She has totally tanked. Just when I thought she could not go any lower, she did. I feel bad for Cade Foehner. They had her parents on camera earlier (father also likes attention). That was an interesting peek into the family dynamic…
Katy Perry’s parents are ministers. I was pretty confused by her dad’s “costume.”
@jshain How do you know that Catie Turner has a big fan following? I am hoping she doesn’t stick around long.
musicmom, She has 88,000 Instagram followers. She gets high percentages for “best performance” on various blogs. I worry that once (not “if”) she gets into the Live Shows people will cast “a statement vote” for her.
I am really bugged that ABC has “allowed” Katy Perry to sexually harass their male artists. I hope they get an earful. I gave them my 2 cents.
jshain, I never got your Michelle Sussett thing. And last night confirmed it for me. More sizzle than steak.
I was really disappointed with Brandon Diaz’s performance, though it got better in the end. For me, Gabby, Gabe and Jonny stood out. Dennis wasn’t bad.
Youdon’tsay, Jurnee and Maddie are clearly my favorite females. Followed by Mara and Alyssa. I thought Michelle had the it factor but, after last night, no longer on my radar. Gabby’s range is intriguing. I just wish she wasn’t so nasally. You said Gabe but I think you may have been referring to Cade. I like Dennis also but the judges were right about his song choice last night. Did not show off his vocal ability.
I continue to be bugged by Katy’s constant need for attention and behavior toward the male contestants. Will ABC ever tell her to just stop?!
Psychomomma, asked ABC that very same thing in a Tweet this morning.
Oops, I mean psychmomma. Amazing the difference one measly letter makes!
Got through Sunday night’s show. 2 hours is LONG. My favs are Jonny and Cade. Not a fan of any of these girls really. A little too much country for me! Will be curious to see how versatile Jonny is - and really Cade too - can he do something subtle???
It was pathetic how Katy fell over Cade and really took the limelight away from him and his performance. He was probably thinking she was worse than a teenager over him!
@jshain - That isn’t the first time I’ve been called that! Lol!! (And at times, it applies equally well.)
I really enjoyed the majority of the duets! I also thought the collaborations were great. After getting to know some of these stars up close I now want to go see them perform in concert. I don’t want to give away the results of the eliminations, if you are still planning to watch.
Katy Perry was pretty low key. What a difference a day makes.
When can we talk?!?!?
“He” should have gone through, right Youdon’tsay??? Go ahead, you say his name first.
I have watched a few clips and saw a list of who went through (although I haven’t put faces with all the names yet) so it’s ok with me if you talk!
Cade is very good at what he does, but I would (like abasket said above) like to see a softer side. Maybe “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” would be good for him.
