I was disappointed by some of the people they let go last night, and a few they kept.
More songs’s from ds2’s a cappella days. lol
I think Jonny could do a good job on This is Gospel. And I’m actually looking forward to Katie doing Hozier.
I love Barry Manilow so I hope that’s what Marcio is doing.
I was rather surprised iwhen I saw Caleb was performing the Chris Stapleton version of Midnight Train To Memphis. He could be in trouble. His voice would be more suitable to the way Kid Rock sings it. (I would love to hear Cade Foehner do the Chris Stapleton version but that’s probably not going to happen now.)
Cade and Maddie both singing two of my all time favorite songs.
I love the song choices that Michelle, Jurnee and Gabby are performing. Just when I thought Michelle would be going home. Now I’m not so sure.
The Catie Turner song choice is really strange to me. It will be interesting to see what she does with it.
Cringeworthy performances thus far. Yikes.
ETA that so far Michelle is my favorite.
I thought the sound mix tonight was almost as bad as The Voice was last week. I even turned on a different TV in my house to see if it was my television. The mix seemed to get a little better after the first 3 or 4 performed.
This is a singing competition. With that in mind, I thought some of the song choices did nothing to show off their voices.
Yes musicmom! The sound mixing was atrocious and there were also lots of pitch issues. More bad performances than good and fair combined, imo. They should have put a bottom caption on many of the performances that read “no adjustment of your TV is necessary”. On ALL of these singing competitions, the stripped down performances usually come out sounding better. Many competitors just can not handle the larger productions and everything that goes with it.
Which 4 do you think are in trouble tomorrow? If I were to guess, based on Sunday’s performance, I’d say Marcio, Jonny, Garrett, and Mara— unless one of them impresses during their sing-off on Monday.
My top-6:
Cade
Gabby
Maddie (her best solo performance of the season)
Jurnee
Catie
Ada (his worst solo performance of the season)
Agree with your top 6. Not sure which ones are in trouble except I’m pretty sure Jonny will be leaving. I’m not a fan of Michelle. I really like Caleb’s personality but he needs to pick the right song. And Cade’s guitar is beautiful. I keep trying to get a better look at it when he performs!
You might find this interesting… Cade’s guitar cred:

That’s interesting about Cade, but from the article:
Gah…
LGBTQ PSA of the day: I don’t know Adam Sanders’/Ada Fox’s views on the topic, but most people who perform in drag prefer to use the female pronouns when dressed accordingly.
My favorite was Alyssa Raghu but she seems to be gone. I disagreed with judges on her performance with Banners. Katy Perry is hard to watch so i just tune in every once in awhile during the two hours st this point.
It was simply in the context of who my top-6 females and males were.
If someone chooses to go back and forth between male and female they should not be offended by what pronoun is used. I agree with @jshain
It’s a non issue in my opinion
Just watched the show on Hulu. I am hoping that this is the end of the road for:
- Jonny
- Michelle
- Garrett
- Mara
Pre-performance package award for the season goes to (drum roll, please)… Catie! I am still laughing. Up til now I thought she was quirky and corny. Last night she was hysterically funny!
I liked when Catie was asked " Do you think you can win this?" and she replied “Honestly, no!”
I thought every top-6 artist actually TOPPED their performance from the night before with their celebration songs. No letdowns, which surprised me a little.
Michelle Sussett was absolutely a train wreck vocally in her sink or swim performance. A total and complete mess. She hurt my headphones. Guess the judges thought her combined Sunday and Monday performances were better than Mara’s.
Jurnee was shaky but got through it okay. So glad she did not go home!
I did not care for Dennis’ performance. Too much falsetto, imo.
Wish Marcio had performed better Monday night. He needed to redeem himself following his huge setback on Sunday— but didn’t.
Thought Garrett and Jonny both delivered good performances for their skill set. Jonny, in particular.
Is it bad that I want them to give Catie a makeover? I feel as though some of the others are being styled by someone else at this point, but not her. I get that she is quirky and all (and I like her for it), but I think she could still be authentic to who she is in a less frumpy way.
I felt bad that Marcio had to leave. He looked so sad…
I don’t think Michelle was better than Mara.
Just watched the show on Hulu.
I actually thought Catie did get a nice styling upgrade and looked beautiful however, I agree, her wardrobe could now use a little work!
“I am bitter” (sorry, stealing…) that Michelle got through over Mara. The judges gave Mara great advice to just stand and sing. Had she done that on Monday she might have gotten into the top-10. I get the fact the judges want diversity of styles, genres, and ethnicity— but you still gotta sing in key.
I actually thought watching Sunday’s show (haven’t watched Monday yet but am ok being spoilered right now…) that Catie DID look different - like a step in the makeover direction but not fully. Her make up looked different, her hair seemed more polished, her glasses seemed different. She appears to be quite beautiful. Also her dress Sunday was not so quirky. Quirky is fine! But I think people need to know you also have a polished style and that your look is not your shtick.
I’m sorry Garrett went.
Right now I’m favoring Cade, Catie, and Maddie. I could NOT stand Mara and I don’t like Michelle.
On Sunday’s show I was SOO over the crying. I think the judges need to toughen these contestants up a little. They need to be more critical and offer more solid advice. This thing is over in 4 weeks. Let’s get serious!
Also, CADE. Holy smokes, this is not something I am typically doing, but that Sunday performance…I almost needed a shower afterwards!!! Haha.
