The Who’s “Baba O’Riley” - I SO wanted to hear more!!!

teri, youtube has full clips each week. They might be up by now!

I taped it and just finished watching. David A was by far the best tonight. Even better than my beloved David Cook. I thought the Who song was a waste. My 15yo got out of bed cuz he could overhear the tape and said, "Why did he pick that song. All it says is ‘teen-age wasteland.’ "

Syesha crying was so touching.

David Archuleta was best. David Cook had one really good song (the second one) and Syesha was her usual, consistently good Broadway self. I’ve always liked Jason, but that boy’s got to go. It’s time.

Ya, David C did a really good job with Baba O’Riley (which I know as "teenage wasteland). But David A, IMHO was the best tonight. And I did like Syesha, but didn’t think it was her best, either song. And Jason was worse than he has been all season… so he will probably NOT be voted off…due to some ridiculous “votefortheworst” website???

I just know that from now on if anyone ever asks me “what were you thinking?” I’m saying, “I was thinkin Bob Marley!”

Thank goodness.

I loved Maroon 5. Anyone else?

Well, there are a lot of disappointed Aggies tonight. However, even they knew that Jason needed to go; they were just looking for a little excitement in their poor, finals-week lives.

The top 3 are all really good and deserve to be there, I think.

I could be happy with any of the top three at this point, because I know they will all have great careers no matter who wins. But I’m still pulling for David C.

^^^ Me too

My least favorite part of AI is the re-singing of the crummy song that got you kicked off in the first place. Last night I ran to change the channel before having my ears tortured again.

My DVR stopped recording right when Jason started singing his farewell. Guess it couldn’t take it either.

(That and Amareican Idol not being able to end on time…
)

You missed the best part! He was so ecstatic at not having to come back and learn 3 more songs that he looked positively joyous. Made the song (the little bit they showed) better too.

Yeah - he was thinking Bob Marley. I hope there are t-shirts being made up already. My D would buy one in a minute. She thinks he’s adorable.

My favorite Jason line of Thurs evening was in his goodbye. His two songs Wed night were, I Shot the Sheriff and Mr. Tambourine Man. Jason told Ryan Seacrest that someone told him that “he had shot the tambourine man”.

Jason did look positively giddy at the end.
Some of the guys from Maroon 5 (including the lead singer) were counselors at a performing arts camp that my D attended years back, they played in a pick up band there and you could see the talent.
Why can’t David A make a coherent sentence when he’s interviewed? I still think there’s something slightly “off” about him.

It was nice to see Jason handle it so well. Although he might not be the best singer there, I’ve always found him very sweet and endearing, and I enjoyed some of his performances. My D, through 2 or 3 degrees of separation, knows someone who knows him in Texas and he is, according to this friend, a very talented (and smart!) musician and a really nice kid.

One interview I’ve seen about David A. was with one of his teachers who said she cannot believe how well he’s handled himself on AI. He is a painfully shy young man when being interviewed and having to interact with Ryan, the judges, the mentors, etc. but when he’s singing, his performances are confident and indicative of his talent. This is not all that unusual with some kids who are also performers. Offstage, many actors, particular very young ones are not comfortable with their ‘public’ and adoring fans.

There was a great article in Entertainment Weekly last week (you can probably find it online). The writer sat in at the rehearsals during Neil Diamond week. He said Jason blew off a few practices since his brother and friends were in town and felt it was more important to spend time with them. What a contrast to Archuletta who has an over involved stage dad. It described how Dad picks the songs for him, coaches him and acts as a go between. Based on that article, I was sorry to see Jason go.

Me, too. I realize they’ve just been rehearsing that number all week, but… Why can’t they sing one of their best, or something they’d like to say good-bye with?

On Ellen deGeneres today (okay, I admit it, I caught a few minutes of it), she ran and re-ran a clip of Jason mouthing the words “Don’t Vote” (it seemed) Tuesday night when they flash the phone number on the screen. He wanted to go home? That was her point.

I don’t even remember what my S did with that day. But we are an oceanfront town, so they probably went to the beach which is a 5-minute drive, max. I guess we’re quite lucky.

I really hate those call-in questions from the viewers. Only Simon seems to be able to field them with aplomb. Also, what is with the Gerber Baby look that Ryan Seacrest continues to sport? It seems dated and silly. I also would much rather see a departing contestant sing their best song than the one that got them voted out. I would have liked to hear Jason sing Over the Rainbow again. Yes, David A is not very coherent when he has to speak spontaneously but, then, neither is Paula and she’s being paid a lot of money to speak spontaneously and she isn’t seventeen.
