American Idol closet fans

Zoosermom, I am with you. I really do not like his voice. I don’t care for him, either, but I could ignore that if I liked his voice. I’d buy a David C record (oops, showing my age!), but I would change the channel if a David A song came on the radio (and definitely if one of his videos came on tv).

Can’t see yet in CA. Love hearing before it starts.
Thanks all,

Aargh, I hosted Bunco tonight and missed the whole thing! Guess I’ll just have to hope that someone posts it on youtube soon.

me too kathiep! Missed the whole thing for the first time while driving one of my kids up and back to an appointment. Lousy timing and I do hope the performances will be posted on youtube.

David A. really does remind me of a junior lounge singer. beautiful voice for sure, but I can’t imagine a pop record. But what do I know?

Did it seem to anyone else like Simon had a hidden agenda? He has always seemed to favor David C. before tonight. Then, after one of the times he gave David C. a so-so review, he winked at him. I know, he does wink a lot, but still…I wondered. Maybe he’s using reverse psychology? We’ll see.

I voted for David C.

You know I thought the same thing too timely Simon has always favored C as you said. And I saw the wink too. But I don’t know about the whole revere psych theory. I think Simon really liked A tonight better.

I have liked both and disliked both for different reasons. Tonight though I think David A was on his game more. More flaws in David C performances and song choices. Unfortunately for Idol if David A wins they will have to get him a public speaking coach. Kid can’t speak in front of a mike.

Am I the only one who thought David C. just plain chose the wrong material tonight? The only good pick, imo, was the one Clive Davis chose for him. His own picks were off.

I’m another one who thought it would be David A. all the way in the early weeks… got a little tired of him… got more and more amazed by David C.

But David A. took tonight by a mile. If the voting goes on tonight’s performances rather than the sum of the season, I think he will take it.

I took Simon’s wink at David C. to be an affectionate one - saying, “You chose the wrong song; you and I both know it; but you still have a great talent and it will all turn out well in the end.”

Performances are up on youtube for those of us who missed the real deal.

The unthinking, clueless men in my home did not record AI for me. They have all retreated to bed early because they know I am ****ed!!! Grrrrrr.

Thank goodness for youtube! Wonderful performances for both guys. I hope David Cook wins the competition but David A. sang the best tonight.

David A’s weepy-eyed schtick is getting old.

I don’t like anything about David A. He’s got a pleasant voice but I don’t think that it’s particularly interesting or amazing, and he’s so incredibly boring. I think there are plenty of kids out there that sing as well with a lot more personality. I just don’t get anything about his appeal.

I thought David A sang so well last night. What did you think of David C’s tearful look? Regardless of winner, david c will have a career immediately, but will take time for david a to develop. What did you think of Ruben?

I think David A. sang his heart out last night, but as previous AI’s have proven, the winner doesn’t always have the biggest career. I think David C.'s career will take off whether he wins or loses. As for David A., remember he is only seventeen years old. Think of how your teenager would deal with the pressure of this competition. I think he also has a bright future ahead of him.

I don’t see “Archie” as being commercial unless he goes in a Josh Groban like direction. It’s probably Broadway stunt casting for him. Cook is probably the break out star and has a chance to have a career with legs.

Because I had to watch the performances on fuzzy Youtube videos (grrrr), I didn’t/couldn’t see DC’s tearful look. It’s the way DA always looks like he’s a little hunched over, having trouble breathing, watery eyes – like he’s been punched instead of enjoying the moment – that’s so annoying to me.

The year of Clay/Ruben was a big one in my house. I was a Claymate; dh preferred Ruben. I liked Ruben but thought he seemed one-dimensional and wouldn’t have much of a career. So far, I’ve been right!

I agree that DA seemed to be more on his game last night…part of me wonders if DC really wanted to win - he has more control over the direction of his career if he DOESN’T win.

justaMom-that’s exactly what I told my H last night about DC!
