<p>The Jonas Brothers were standouts, in that they were completely awful. Cannot for the life of me why so many tweens like them (though that popularity is exactly why they were guests).</p>
<p>I Tivo’d the show and almost missed the end. I forgot they have a habit of making the big part after the tivo goes off. </p>
<p>Surprised David C won by that much but he will much more marketable than David A. </p>
<p>I thought most of the performances were painful and was glad for the tivo.</p>
<p>singersmom07 - when I set up my Tivo, it asked me if I wanted to add extra recording time to the show as ‘finale’ shows tend to run over a bit. I said yes, and it recorded the whole thing.</p>
<p>So I was watching with D1 tonight who just graduated from college; she has not kept up with the show all year, so she got to see some of the people that haven’t been on the last couple of weeks. When they showed Amanda, D asked, “Who is that and why does she look so miserable to be there?”</p>
<p>1of42: I hate to say it, but D was very excited when she saw Jonas Brothers on, but did say to me, “I’m such a teeny bobber.” </p>
<p>Personally, I love Seal, and kind of was surprised to see him on the show. It just doesn’t seem like the kind of thing he’d do (does he have a new CD coming out soon?).</p>
<p>So, maybe the new song will grow on me. I imagine it was hard for David to sing while so emotional. Simon’s apology was interesting. Do you think he knew who the winner was ahead of time and decided he’d better make amends before the winner was announced?</p>
<p>By far though, despite all the cheesyness, bad clips, etc. the show was worth it as I watched his mother looking up at him when he sang the final song.</p>
<p>And back to 1of42 - I told you my D is a Jonas Brothers geek; she just told me about one of them cutting his hand open at the CMAs when he fell on some broken glass.</p>
<p>The person I was most surprised to see on the show was… Robert Downey Jr. I know they were hawking “Tropic Thunder” but still – he just never seemed the American Idol type! I also thought the in-show ad for the Love Guru was sort of weird.</p>
<p>Liked Seal, but was reeeaally disappointed with George Michael. Couldn’t he have thrown us a bone and sung one of his old hits? Compared to Dolly Parton and Neil Diamond, he’s actually contemporary. I DO think they had some questionable theme nights this season, especially for such young performers.</p>
<p>I also was very suprised to hear that D. Cook won by that much. His performances tonight were better than last night’s. Thought he was great on Sharp Dressed Man. And even my 10 year old can’t stand the Jonas Brothers. She says they’re even worse than the Naked Brothers Band (or is it the other way around?).</p>
<p>Does anyone think Simon apologized to him and said he didn’t care who’d win because he’d already heard the results? And I’m still wishing Melinda Doolittle will come out with something – I liked her a lot. She was gypped last year! Think David C. would have had a pretty happening career in store whether he’d won or not – a la Chris Daughtry, as others have said.</p>

The number of vote discrepancy was misleading. The actual vote spread was 56% for Cook, 44% for Archuleto, if I rememebr what Seacrest said at the outset (it was either 44/56 or 46/54, but I think it was the first one).</p>
<p>Wow - that just proves how many vote for this thing.
S1 just said that supposedly more people vote for AI than vote in the presidential elections (?!). I’m sure there are people who vote multiple times, but still…</p>

<p>I was so happy DC won, but after he got to sing with ZZ Top and looked so happy, we all said it didn’t matter if he won, because his expression was so like “Look at me: I’m the lead singer for ZZ Top!!!”</p>
<p>Stayed up late to watch the tape. Why didn’t you people tell me that Michael Johns was featured so prominently, looking more handsome than ever??</p>
<p>Thanks for the info on DC’s brother. There were a couple of early weeks I missed and never quite got that whole story. Maybe he was backstage and the producers had the good sense and compassion to not exploit him and put him on camera? Nah, probably not.</p>
<p>DA’s Risky Business commercial was adorable. The “You Are My Brother” guy cracked me up. But I was thrilled to be able to zip past all the schlock.</p>

<p>I thought that was the greatest. I had tears running down my face when the USC marching band came out. That segment was just funny, good-natured and light-hearted. I loved it.</p>
<p>Boy, I missed a lot. Got distracted by the boring parts and obviously missed some good moments. Glad I DVR’d it. Now… to see the highlights before DH nukes it.</p>
<p>Early in the show the two Davids sang a duet. I was pleasantly surprised by how good they sounded together.</p>
<p>All the product placements and pushing songs by older artists was really tedious!</p>
<p>I thought Syesha looked great and seemed to be really enjoying herself. She had a lot of stage presence last night.</p>

I have yet to hear a Jonas Brothers song I like, and unfortunately I hear a lot of it because my sisters love playing the music nice and loud. I just have yet to hear anything that makes me think those kids have any talent whatsoever.</p>
<p>1of42, I agree with you. They and Miley Cyrus are in the same boat, as far as I’m concerned. Very little talent.</p>
<p>I thought Seal and Syesha’s voices sounded awful together… they both have great voices, but they don’t mesh at all. Sounded very awkward.</p>
<p>I loved David Cook’s version of Guitar Hero commercial better…he was in tighty-whitey’s and DA was in boxers! too funny.</p>
<p>I also think Simon had to save face from his comments the night before, hence the apology.</p>
