I think being married hurt him – though not with me, hubba hubba!

And yes, I think being foreign-born hurts both of them.

I am soooo glad Kristy Lee is a goner. Who’ll be next?

I think Brooke may be next. She has slowly been losing steam over the past couple of weeks. I noticed as she was singing at the piano this past week, as the camera came in for a close-up - she was TREMBLING!! JMHO I think she’s not long for this “comp-e-ti-tion” (Think Simon’s pronunciation)

I don’t care where Carly was born, but I’m not a great fan of tatoos.

LOL, JustaMom, I was just thinking about that Simon pronunciation and looking back at some earlier posts about Melinda Doolittle. IMHO, she should have won last year, as Simon says “It’s a singing com-pe-ti-tion.” (accent on the first syllable.) Couldn’t have been happier to see Kristy Lee exit. The four who were sitting safely should be the top 4. Carly, the David’s and Jason.

Lee will have a career in country music. She’s a better singer than Pickler and has the looks too.

Do you think Brooke was really trembling? I thought her ringlets were just bouncy from banging on the piano. But, yeah, it was distracting.

I thought she was trembling, you could hear in her voice and her playing that she was flustered (I could be wrong, it’s been known to happen…) She was one of my fave’s for a while but I think she’s done for.

I definitely think Carly needs to cover her tatoos…and have you seen her husband in the audience?? OMG!!!

justa,

Agreed about the husband. No way will the future American Idol be (1) Irish, (2) married to a freak show. So disturbing! My daughter was a David Cook fan from day one and at first I didn’t see it, but I’ve become a believer. Even if he’s been fortunate to find great rocker arrangements of the songs, he’s still sung the heck out of those songs. Brooke doesn’t have much of a voice, but she’s an engaging performer. David A has gone from first to worst in my view after what started as a cool, smoky tone to his voice has become monotonous and irritating at the same time!

Wow, a pretty judgmental group here today!

alwaysamom Yes he was in it also. We enjoyed the whole cast - it was just a magical show. The last time we came out of a show just beaming like that was Billy Elliot in London a couple of summers ago. We enjoyed Heinz Winkler’s acting. But of course we had not seen the show before so no comparisons. We really lucked out. Most of the good seats at the theatre are usually reserved by season ticket holders - I was surprised to get what I thought were 3rd row seats (which actually were 2nd row). Turned out they put extra seats where the orchestra pit usually is (because the musicians are on stage). Fantastic seats. It really made it even more special. Trouble is we are spoilt now!

swimcatsmom, yes, having seen the show so many times, although great, is sometimes difficult because comparing actors is automatic.
Sitting close to the stage is definitely wonderful. I’m spoiled because I hate to be more than 5 or 6 rows back. I love to be able to see the facial expressions, and that isn’t possible if you’re too far back. For Rent, they always either add a couple of rows of seats over the pit, or they reserve the first couple of rows for the rush seats, and often, some extra regular seats.

I know exactly what you mean about Billy Elliot. We loved it, too, when we saw it in London! It is coming to NYC in the fall and our entirely family can’t wait. :)

We saw Billy Elliot in London also, and were hoping it would come here, but wondering how it would translate. It will be interesting.

I am wondering how Bill E will translate also. I am English and was living there during the whole miners strike period (in fact i was married to a policeman at the time so saw the other side of the picture - really sad the anti police sentiment it all generated). Anyway I obviously understood the background story - my daughter was 16 at the time and is born an bred in the USA - she loved it - I did have to explain who Maggie Thatcher was and a few other things. But she was able to enjoy it none the less. She’d have gone back the next night if we could have got tickets.

Sad to see Kristy Lee Cook go. Not the best singer… but she did look really really really good. Hopefully she has a second career (country singer, modeling, etc.)

Full disclosure: I also stuck around watching AI last year until Haley Scarnato got eliminated.

Brook or Syesha (sp?) are next to go. Then either Ms. Tattoo or Mr. Dreadlocks. It’ll end up being between the two Davids and I, for one, am rooting for Cook over Archuleta.

Oh, my very first year of not being on board the American Idol cruise - how I miss the really stupid inane nonsense and sheer fun of it all. And sexy Simon.

Gotta love it…

As a diehard Carole King fan, I really liked Brooke. But I think she is too much of a Carole King knock-off. And… I think she is becoming whine-y and almost abrasive in her persona. Not a winning approach.

I think Syesha has a great voice but not a lot of originality. Beautiful and talented but not enough to go too much farther, I don’t think.

I think it will be the two David’s as well. I like them both for different reasons. As Simon would say, I think it’s going to be affected a lot by Song Choice.

wharfrat, thanks for linking that article. Very amusing. A large part of my enjoyment of AI is due to the funny recaps on televisionwithoutpity dot com.

alwaysamom, I LOVE the TWOP site! It never fails to make me laugh out loud.

Count me in as an out-of-the-closet AI fan. I love David Cook this year, and I think he has a great shot at winning. As for the others…

Jason: I love his voice (and his gorgeous eyes) but he’s too one-note. Also maybe not-too-bright… ;)

Syesha: She is gorgeous, her voice is amazing, but there’s nothing that special about her. Can’t put my finger on it.

Brooke: She’s great with one type of genre (think Carole King), but she won’t win.

David A: Cute kid, but I always see a kid up there singing, not a potential AI winner.

Carly: Great voice. I think she might go up against David Cook in the end.
