American Idol closet fans

I’m with Wharfrat2, I love the column written by Lisa de Moraes in the Washington Post each week (“We Watch So You Don’t Have To”). I watch AI occasionally but just enough of the show so that I can follow Tony Kornheiser’s AI discussions on his morning talk radio show.

bump

ew… Jason could be gone this week. I realize Broadway is not his style, there are plenty of Weber songs that would have fit him better.

eeeww, I think Brooke needs to go before she has a complete nervous breakdown. She looks…ummm…broken.

AAgghhh!! The computer and the tv are in different locations-- I can “hear” but not “see” AI. I am missing all the good stuff!

I quite liked Jason - Lloyd Webers comments were funny. Brooke was just painful. Even Paula could not think of anything nice to say. And it was so bad Simon felt impelled to be kind.

If I were a voter (which I’m not), it would be Syesha and David Cook for me.
It was Syesha’s night, I thought. I don’t get what’s up with Brooke. I thought the performance was great, but for the opening slip. But she’s done that once before, and I don’t think you can repeat that maneuver.

my opinion -

Sayesha: I could definitely tell she was in her element, and I liked her tonight. She will probably be safe.

Jason: I just didn’t like the song choice - I think there were plenty of other songs that might have been more appropriate.

Brooke - I predict she will be gone; not a great performance (although I still think she has a lovely voice), and she will get hammered for having to start over again.

Carly - that song was perfect for her. I loved watching her perform. I think she’ll be safe.

David A. - good job. I think he’s got amazing stage presence considering his age. He picked an excellent song for his voice.

David C. - I didn’t like his song as much, but I think he did an excellent job with it. Just wasn’t my favorite performance of his.

I thought it was almost as if Jason sang his song in the wrong key and the low notes were too low for him. I like his style, and the different interpretation he put on that song, but it wasn’t a good night for him overall.

I can’t warm up to Carly for some reason although I thought the song suited her. I agreed with Simon that it was too shouty at times and I thought she missed one of the high notes.

My guess: Brooke and Jason or maybe Brooke and Carly in the bottom two. Brooke goes.

does anyone know who will be conducting the master class next week?

^^^ I don’t know. However, the whole “theme” thing really grates on me. Andrew Lloyd Webber for a pop contest? Yuck. I do like ALW music, but I don’t understand what his music has to do with what will be popular & get played on the radio. While I think David A has a good voice, I would change channels if I were driving in the car & his song came on. It’s not that it’s bad … it’s just not something I want to hear on the radio. I would say that David C and Jason are the only two whose music I would actually listen to if it were played on the radio.

Jason and especially Brooke need to go ASAP. They’re bad. At this point, you should have a pretty strong voice…both have nice but weak voices that can’t carry a “big” song.

I still think David A has an amazing strong voice, my fav from the beginning and still so, in spite of Simon’s remarks. Liked Carly (kind of) and David C who was out of his element but still pulled it off.

I thought

David C was amazing.

Sayesha - that was my favorite performance for her.

David A - I usually like him but tonight - yawn.

Jason - I quite liked.

Carley - I liked.

Brooke - oh dear. i don’t know if it is stress but she is just losing that something special she started off with. It is just so sad watching her. I think she will be gone tomorrow.

IMO, Jason’s performance was the weakest (longest 2 minutes of his life per Simon), but Brooke’s stumbling and starting over will put her in the bottom 2 with Jason. David Cook should win and I’m beginning to think Carly could be second. I’m with ALW on David A. singing with his eyes closed.

I agree with kelsmom on the choice of Andrew Lloyd Webber and the entire theme thing. I think it will be Brooke, Jason, (oh I will miss those eyes), and drum roll…one of the David’s–probably David A in the bottom 3. I think Syesha did well as did Carly. I suspect it will be the end of Brooke as it should be based upon this week’s performance.

Being on the west coast really is a bummer, sometimes! At least I’m not in Hawaii. (you know what I mean, LOL) Anyway, I’m looking forward to the show tonight!

Well, I think it’s interesting that they picked ALW since many of the AI winners have ended up on Broadway. And I think AI is running out of music genres to challenge the singers with… who is the most well-rounded singer.

I would rather listen to someone who has a strong sense of self musically than a musical chameleon … it just reminds me of a lounge lizard! I think that’s why I like David C & Jason. They know their strengths & they can change up their performances within their areas of strength to keep me interested. I don’t really want to hear them sing country or Broadway. But that’s just me! :)

I actually loved David A’s performance. The singing itself was his usual - very good technically, but not quite exciting. However, I found the fact that he was singing that particular song in such a stunningly different manner and still making it work VERY exciting.

It is interesting to see how different everyone’s opinion is. No wonder we are all surprised by who does or does not win these shows.

I think Brooke will be out; Syesha and David Cook were best. The show is a great escape from the real world-love it.
