Yes, definitely a shocker week. Jason sucked and Brooke screwed up. The other 4 did a wonderful job. At this level, where all contestants are excellent, Jason and Brooke should have been on the chopping block. Not because they are bad, just that they were the worst of the week. Jason more so. Brooke; after her 3 second boo boo, actually did a fine job with the song. Jason sounded weak and not good at all. He should have been gone. No way that Syesha and Carly should not have been in the bottom 2.

So, when all is said and done, I think it’s a popularity contest as well as a little manipulation of the votes to try and maintain an equal amount of girls and boys. Maybe a conspiracy theory, but that’s what I think. As such, next weak will be Jason gone, then Syesha, then Brooke, then it will be between the 2 Davids. Cooke should be the winner without a doubt. Unfortunately, David “A” has the teenie Bopper vote. He has all the Sanjia rejects. Not that he isn’t good; just that he definitely isn’t as good as a handful of the others. But, the teenie boppers will keep him in. I hope Cooke wins. He is by far the most versatile and talented person in the top ten.

Yeah, me too. Michael Johns was fun–easy on the eyes and ears. My husband contemptuously referred to him as a “cover artist,” but I think he felt threatened. (Well, maybe not.) … I somehow knew that Syesha and Carly would end up in the bottom two, but was still appalled when my prediction proved correct. I love Syesha and thought her latest performance was spectacular. She’ll certainly have a future on Broadway. Carly, who has the strongest voice of all the women, is somehow hard to warm up to. My husband thinks maybe it has to do with the garish tattoos running up and down her right arm. Or the occasional audience shots of her extremely scary, totally-tattooed husband. Any thoughts on that?

When it all comes down to it…which of these performers are you likely to buy an album of? I’m not into the Carly 'hard rocker Joan Jett scene" so I wouldn’t buy one of hers, Brooke is like a Carly Simon…so I might by one of hers- and she plays guitar and piano-nice touch! David A…phenom talent in a kid that age…will he have appeal in the broader market? David Cook…definate buy here, Jason, easy on the eyes and has nailed it multiple times…could be quite marketable, Sayesha…fantastic on Tuesday but has fallen flat too many times. Should definately do the Broadway thing. Who are you likely to spend $14 for a CD of???

I will almost certainly buy David C’s CD. If Jason puts one out that has the kind of Iz vibe from “Rainbow,” then I’d probably go there too. Syesha could do something along the lines of the Dana Owens Album, then I’d have three to add to the collection.

See, that’s what I think will make it interesting. I’m predicting David C. will pick a song with a completely wild, unexpected arrangement and make us wonder why Neil Diamond never sang it that way. Not too confident any of the other contestants have the maturity and self-confidence to go out on a limb like that.

Hindoo - I grew to like Carly and would cringe when they showed a glimpse of hubby - I think the producers kept it to a minimum. I have a hunch the JCSuperstar didn’t help her with the conservative crowd. I loved the musical when it came out, but I remember my mom had a stricken look on her face when I would belt out those tunes (could’ve just been the voice :))

I am sure someone else has already said this but vote for both Davids in the final two. David A is who you want to listen to to be uplifted. David C is who you want to listen to when you do naughty things when the kids aren’t home

I loved Michael Johns too but he seemed to only do well when he was singing Queen.

I also voted for Brooke because she is so darn sweet and I coulnd’t bare to see her heart broken by being voted out.

Jason Castro has a Vinny Barbarino thing going…complete w/ IQ oy!!!

I said to my family the moment Carly started singing, is she crazy? The Judas part from JCS? Where he questions Jesus, “who are you, what have you sacrificed?” Bye, bye Carly. We could put up with tattoo-husband, but dissing Jesus, not going to cut it (full disclosure, I’m an atheist/Jew who LOVES JCS, but was still cringing about her song choice).

I thought David C was much better than Simon, even my husband was blown away by his version of the song. If you like him, there are videos out there of his old band, Axium, and one with him singing a cover of that Temple of a Dog song, Hunger Strike, (he also covers Radiohead’s Creep, but not as successfully).

Finally, since I’m being judgmental, Syesha was fantastic!! How was she in the bottom two??

I think it would be better to vote for the person you want to go. I actually might be inclinded to vote that way. I would have voted twice this week, for Brooke and for Jason. Both kinda blah.

Do I understand Carly’s husband owns a tattoo parlor? I’m fairly unshockable but when the tats grow up onto the face, that’s just creepy.

If either David wins it’ll be OK. If not I’ll never watch the show again, which is what I said when Taylor Hicks won.

I had a look at the votefortheworst site. They are telling people to vote for Brooke. They also seemed to really hate Carly - there is some nasty stuff written there about her. I was quite taken aback.

maybe the way to get around the affect of idiots like the ones that run this site *would *be to change the voting to where people vote off the person they want to go. But then they would have people voting for the person who is in the lead.

People are offended by JCS? It shouldn’t surprise me, I suppose, but it does. I think, despite what ALW said, that Carly chose the wrong song. I think David C. did, too. A JCS song for him would have been perfection. As it was, he gave a performance which was not only somewhat pretentious (the phoney Brit accent at the beginning and the totally self-indulgent and off-key final note) but just not that good. As someone who has seen Phantom probably a dozen times, as good as David is at what he does well, he does not have the voice to sing a song like that, as it’s meant to be sung.

I really have no idea who will win but the premise of the show is one where, as much as they say that this is a ‘singing contest’, it comes down to a popularity contest, where the winner is decided by individuals who have little or no training or ability to judge vocal talent. Arguably, the best vocalist in each season has not been crowned American Idol. This season may be no different.
