Vitrac, rats, you caught me.

I am not really a fan of Casey either. Too much yelling for me. I like Scotty although I don’t really listen to country music much.

I love Scotty and I don’t know why! I guess I’m a sucker for the deep voice.

I also agree Casey does not appeal to the voting demographic. To me he looks older than he actually is and definitely needs a makeover! He also sounds exactly the same to me every week, though always good, but it is a little boring–maybe because I know he is going to nail it every week and there’s no need to worry about the potential train wreck like some of the others. LOL

Scotty is a one note wonder so far though. That will work fine for country music but perhaps not for AI.

Now I’m having coffee with my morning after thoughts. The performances last night started slow and each one seemed to get better. I really liked my guy Casey - the musician in him really came out and he looked a lot spiffier. My girl Haley also impressed me … I sure hope she’s not going home because that’s the first performance of hers that didn’t have any awkward moments. I can’t imagine who’s going home, but my guesses would be Thia, although I love her voice, and possibly Naima, although she is a born performer. I wish I could merge those two and then I wouldn’t be worried about them. (Pitch of Thia to Naima and stage bravery of Naima to Thia.)

LOVE Casey but he should have ditched the beard completely!

Naima is crazy brave and has stage presence but that performance last night was awful.
James is wild and always interesting.
Jacob, I can’t get him. HIs voice is fabulous but his dramatic style isn’t my cup of tea.

Mostly, the others seem to blend all together. The girls just don’t impress me this year.
Pia’s voice quality is beautiful but she just seems bland and plastic to me. JMHO

Musicmom, my sentiments exactly. Decided to call in a few votes for Casey in hopes he won’t be in jeopardy, at least for a while yet.

I originally liked Jacob a lot, but I am not too keen on him these days. He is awkward to watch. I loved Haley last night and Thia has such a beautiful voice. Naima has great stage presence and I love her bold spirit. It will be interesting to see what happens tonight.

I absolutely don’t get the love for Haley. My whole household thought her performance was cringe-worthy.

I agree, youdon’tsay. She is extremely awkward onstage and I don’t enjoy her vocals at all. Her uncontrolled belting is going to do serious, and likely, permanent damage if she continues to sing like this. If she made it through even one song entirely on key, I think I’d faint!

I haven’t been a huge Casey fan the past few weeks, but last night, I think he was near perfect. Good song choice, excellent arrangement, beautiful tone, and a terrific performance. I hope that he got lots of votes. It would be a shame for him to go home before a few others who are still there.

^^^ We must have been separated at birth. I hadn’t been a Casey fan but really enjoyed him last night. Same with Jacob.

Casey missed a few notes, as did the first 4 or 5 performers. That makes me cringe.

Yeah, he wasn’t perfect, I just connected with him last night. It helped that he was singing one of my all-time favorite songs. ;)

I always DVD the performances, and sometimes I will play them again, when I am not looking at them, just listening from another room. You get an entirely different perspective. Jacob is terrible, just awful. He has moments where he sounds good, and then he goes over the top and then it’s difficult to listen to. God knows, watching him is creepy, he is such an over dramatic performer. Yuck, I don’t get it!

I also hope they ditch Steven Tyler next year. He rarely gives any valid critique, can’t stop saying, “beautiful,” even if the performances are awful. He doesn’t add anything to the panel, except an occasional on pitch note.

An understatement! I had to take a phone call after the 4th performer and never returned–and I LOVE Elton John.

I hadn’t noticed it before until a CC poster mentioned it, but Jennifer Lopez has got to quit interrupting Randy when he’s giving his critique. She has her own time–it’s getting annoying.

Agree that Steven Tyler said nothing of substance last night. Nothing.

Really enjoyed James’s performance…but then that is one of my favorite EJ songs.

I am anti-Haley, but last night I thought she was at least “ok”. That is 1000% better than her other performances.

Anyone want to help me with a Pia makeover? I think she styles herself like a 40-year old wedding singer. So, first we take off a ton of eye makeup so she actually looks like a girl in her early twenties. Next, we ditch the center part, trim a few inches off the hair and tousle it, maybe even add some bangs. Finally, we take her out of the cocktail dresses and put her in jeans, a halter top, platforms, and some funky jewelry. There! Much better. De-plasticized, at least visually. Afraid I can’t do anything about the personality.

MommaJ, agree. Thank you for that visual makeover. She is like a barbie doll…too plastic for words. I know somewhere there is a cruise ship stage with her name on it!
