^^^ I agree. I don’t understand the whole Pia love-fest. Yes, she can sing ballads but she is sooooo boring. I just can’t see her doing anything but sing a sloow song without moving.

I don’t care for country music but I really like Scotty. James was very entertaining…Naima isn’t a great singer but she is willing to try anything.

This year, many just blend together - they are talented but boring…

Pia–boring. Read that JLo and her husband want her to win.
Haley–growls in every song.
James–nothing special. Reminds me of Adam Lambert (not a fan of his either).
Jacob–too dramatic, makes weird faces when he sings. IMO–more of a gospel singer.
Naima–average at best.
Thia–no power. Nice girl, but not ready yet.
Paul–tired of him all ready. Every song he sings sounds the same.
Stefano–cute guy, great smile. Started out good, but went downhill as the weeks went on.
Lauren–too flakey. She needs more time to grow up. She’s OK, but nothing special.
Casey–he’s an all around musician, but not a great singer or performer. I can’t imagine him selling many CD’s.

All in all—another season of BORING TV airtime.

Hopefully Simon’s XFACTOR show consist of contestants with personality and real talent.

American Idol has definitely run its course.

Totally agree about Pia - that smile is so plastic and NEVER reaches her eyes! Find her boring - nothing new/different about her. Liked Casey - would like to see him bring out his bass again. Still love James. Getting tired of Stephen (and actually Randy/Jennifer too) not really saying anything constructive. They say something then backtrack. Kinda wished Simon was still on to tell Pia - you said you weren’t going to do another ballad and here you are again - BORING! And JLo really needs to let Randy get in a word edgewise!

Casey needs to shave the beard - completely. Like Scotty but then I like country music. No one seems to jump out at me as a frontrunner. Bland, bland, bland…

as far as the judges…I miss Simon. I can only imagine how happy he is not having to do AI anymore. This may be the final season for me.

I thought Lauren did a great job last night and I have not been a fan of hers so far. However, her “interview” skills remind me of Allison Irahita (sp?) who could not articulate a comprehensible sentence. I know she is young, but I know lots of youngsters who can speak in public! I thought Lauren and Scotty were really good tonight, too, and I was pleased with the final outcome. wink, wink, West Coast.

OKay, I’m not reading the latest thread posts because I’m just now catching up on last night’s perfromance via DVR.

So here are my thoughts before seeing the results show (West Coast) and what all of the rest of you (more with it ) folks say:
Scotty – same old same old (I’m sure the country music set loves him)
Naima – I liked what she did; judges didn’t – what do I know?
Paul – loved loved loved it. FINALLY, he is not a Rod Stewart clone and I could enjoy that voice
Pia – didn’t want to like it… but I did
Stefano – wanted to love, thought I would based on the rehearsal clip; wasn’t much to it, though
Lauren – she was great with that song
James – too much about the staging and effects for me… but hey, I’m old (he did sound mostly good)
Thia – loved her for the first time (always loved her persona, but not her performances)

I’m kind of liking most of them… am I getting soft?

Casey - liking the cleaned up look, now in the 21st century. Changes how he comes across I think. He NAILED the end of that song.

Jacob - he’s special, but not as AI I don’t think
Haley - first time she’s ever done anything for me; I loved that song for her

West Coast checking in. I confess I watched the last five minutes of the show. I hate the results shows…good riddance to the Thia and Naima, now we need some of the other dead weight to go.

I know! But I think they usually dress down for results night, so I reserve judgment till next week.

Fantasia, whom I loooove (her performance in The Color Purple was the best thing I’ve ever seen on a stage), has been cast as Mahalia Jackson, a large woman, in a biopic, so I’m hoping the weight gain was deliberate. Now she’s someone I will never try to make over, because her wardrobe choices, while often horrifying, are always quite entertaining.

Also agree with America about the results (didn’t vote this time)…good job.

But I have to say that the most enjoyable performance so far for me has been Naima’s Dancing in the Street. If she could pull that off every time, she’d still be in the competition.

I am with you Ellemenope. I suspect Paul may be going next week.
I did enjoy the country duet. The other group songs were so so, with Paul being the weak link in the Wing’s number.
I had to DVR the show last night…and I must say I enjoyed all my fast forwarding through the fluff to get to the end!

I think Stefano and Paul are at risk next week; their voices are good, but I don’t feel emotion when they nail a note or tell their stories. They better impress next week. Haley could be at risk if she doesn’t blow us away, because so many people complain about her growl or her pitch, but I still liked her performance this past week and my ear isn’t good enough to notice any pitch problems w/ her (unlike Naima). I’m giving Pia one more week to do something besides ballads and to change her hair … she’s pushing it. I’m rooting for Casey, beard or not. I still think that boy has serious musical talent when he really gets down to it. I don’t think we’ve seen all his sides yet.
