Snowflake - you’re the first one (besides me) to remark on the Casey reaction. Stranger than strange is a good description. Do you think he was conscious of how he was behaving (hope not)? Because if it was some kind of act… I’m not liking him so much anymore.

That sure was a weird ending–starting with Stefano hugging Casey and not letting go (and seemingly saying something that warranted turning off his mike). Same with Casey as he was muttering incoherently…mike was turned on and off.

I wonder if Casey has the psychological strength to make it all the way…

I don’t think he was acting, although you never know. He looked so pale and I really thought he might lose his cookies. I don’t know what the nature of his earlier physical problems were, but I really thought he looked like he could hardly breathe. When he started to sing, he didn’t really have his act together, so when they stopped him, I am sure it was surreal. I also think that because he has been so highly praised, he thought he was safe for at least a few more weeks. I am sure he was very surprised. Even if he had been informed that he was in the bottom three earlier in the show, he would have had time to get ready to perform and to prepare himself for elimination.

Casey is not my favorite - he IS wildly talented - but he reminds me too much of Will Ferrell or something - but there are easily three others who are far less accomplished entertainers. I wish the “save” were still in play - but the judges had to save him.

I thought that maybe he was having trouble breathing also…

Casey’s hair and beard look fake, like a disguise. I wish he’d cut the hair and shave the beard and just surprise everyone next week.

I can see why Casey didn’t get the votes. I doubt he’s appealing to the voting demographic. I think most voters would say that “strange” trumps “talent” and not vote for him.

Patsmom - I LOVE that idea. Right now he looks like a cross between Will Ferrell and the Geico caveman. I am not trying to be mean - but the truth is appearances matter in the competition.

I agree about the voting demographic. I am a pretty hardcore fan of the show, but I don’t vote. I don’t know any friends my age who vote. Or admit they vote. I almost voted for Naima this week. I know she is not the best- not by a longshot - but I wanted her to make the tour. Her joy is palpable. Even if nothing else ever comes of this for her, being on the tour will be incredible. I am so happy for her.

I really thought he was telling Ryan Seacrest that he was about to be sick or couldn’t breathe or something… Wasn’t he just in the hospital? Poor guy - I felt sorry for him.

I also think Casey is the most talented musically, and I really like him, but I don’t think he probably appeals to a wide base of voters. He also kind of looks like the Wolfman- they really need to do a make-over. In any event, there are definitely more than 3 others who are less talented. Some of those who can sing are very boring to watch and some of those who are fun to watch are not great vocally. I didn’t vote so guess I can’t complain.

We haven’t watched AI much at all this season but, DH was late getting home yesterday evening and I was looking for something to watch and landed on that. I haven’t seen it enough to comment as to who I think should have gone home, but I thought Casey was going to pass out when they kept him. I don’t know what his personality is normally like but I thought his ongoing reaction was a bit over-the-top. I can’t look at him without thinking of Seth Rogan.

I agree it was very over-the-top, and apparently with a bit of harsh language as it sounded like they were censoring him. I thought the behavior was dramatic and a bit annoying-I mean, c’mon, have some self-respect!

He’s young, under stress, nervous, thought he was going home, etc. Give him a break…I do agree however, I would love to see him cleaned up a bit…

I am watching it on DVR and it is reminding me of the Acceptance/Rejection letters the kids are getting! What a rollercoaster…

I still think Casey is wildly talented and I want him to stay. I just hope the artistic side of him isn’t too crazy that he can’t handle the stress. Janis Joplin was a little crazy too, and her music was phenomenal. Hopefully the Idol people are given them coaching behind the scenes to help help manage this incredible stress of the ups of down that this business can bring. I don’t normally vote, but next week I’m going to make an effort to put my two cents in and dial. I may also dial for Naima and Jacob if they entertain me again like they did last week.

Snowflake-You mention Janis and dialing a phone. You are revealing your age! :)

^And I remember slide rulers and black and white television…

Wait a minute…we have an incredible old railroad station box phone with bells on top that we still dial…

and a TV you actually had to get up off the sofa to change the channel…and there were only 3 channels…and the TV had to warm up first. I lived among the dinosaurs.

and a TV you actually had to get up off the sofa to change the channel…

If you threw down a few nickels onto the floor in just the right way, the tv channel would change–do you remember? That used to happen with our “fancy” tv that had a remote.

Jumping on the ‘patsmom-for-Casey’s-stylist’ bandwagon. You go girl! He needs you.

Maybe that’s Casey’s problem?? All of us rooting for him are from the dial telephone-Janis Joplin-typewriters before corrasable paper Dinosaur Age? And we don’t vote.
