Well stated, except that I did like the new “do” okay. I’m just catching up via DVR, but Pia finds a way to do rock 'n roll-as-pageant. The outfit was horrific (jewelry okay) and - you’re right - she can’t move; I hadn’t picked up on that.

Hope it’s bye bye for her.

I wish that Jacob had gone with the first song choice. I think it would have been jaw-dropping, although I did like his performance anyway. Scotty worked for me for the first time - he has more range than those bullfrog low notes :).

(Have to wait until Masters broadcast is over before I can catch up with the rest of last night’s show).

That’s just a big “ewwww” for me. I find him so grotesque and always have - even in his pre-face injected days. Good thing we don’t all find the same people attractive.

For me, nothing stood out except for Jacob’s performance. I don’t get Paul. But, then again, I got disinterested in Idol back when Constantine got kicked off. Yes, I am that shallow.

cartera, I know that Steven Tyler doesn’t have matinee-idol good looks, but I’ve had a thing for him ever since “Dude Looks Like a Lady.” It’s odd.

Wish I had seen the show last night to get a load of Pia’s get-up. Need to go look for it now.

ETA: Found it. She’s so pretty, why would she wear such a hideous outfit? Unflattering top to bottom. I has posted more but decided it was sounding creepy and decided to stop. :)

GTalum, so funny to see this comment. I can tell you that Constantine would be very happy to read this. He’s a great guy and has had more success than many Idol winners since being eliminated. He’s also a new dad. :)

Am joining the party late here as I have not really watched any AI this season yet. Did turn it on last night and saw a number of singers (but not all). I distinctly remember Pia last night and thought she was quite good (but for all I knew she could have had bad performances leading up to last night, then had a good night).

Now, after just watching the last 20 minutes of the result show, and seeing the judges reactions, I’m thinking this was a huge mistake, sending her home. Although, as we always say, sometimes not winning Idol is better for a singing career.

Interested to hear perspectives from others who have been watching all along.

" I know that Steven Tyler doesn’t have matinee-idol good looks, but I’ve had a thing for him ever since “Dude Looks Like a Lady.” It’s odd."

Oh my, apparently I am one of those song manglers. I always thought it was, “YOU Look Like A Lady.” Amazing all the useful information we can learn on cc.

No one did exactly BAD last night, so competition was close and really anyone had potential to go home. Stefano’s been in the bottom 3 several times before tonight, and escaped elimination every time. Pia constantly had good performances; I guess she just didn’t have much of a backing. I think the judges would’ve had those reactions, at this point in the competition, no matter who went home. It’s not like Pia’s been the best all along.

Show doesn’t come on for a couple more hours here on the West Coast… What a turnaround for Pia. During the very first week that the viewers could vote, several weeks ago now, Pia was the top female singer in the top 13. She blew the socks off the judges and viewers alike with her voice. But each week after that, it was one ballad after another. A couple of weeks ago the judges/mentors suggested a more upbeat song. When everyone thought she would elect to do one the following week, she didn’t. Last week she breaks the news that the big switcheroo (from ballad to upbeat) is coming and you won’t be disappointed. The one thing that she failed to do was deliver the goods after keeping us wanting more for so many weeks.

There are other bad dancers in the competition (Paul, Casey, Haley, and Scotty for example). Except for Haley, these guys can all “hide” behind their instruments. Paul showcased his poor dance moves early on, when there were still weaker performers than himself in the competition. He is much better behind his guitar just like Casey is behind his upright bass or whatever other instrument he decides to play. Haley is probably next, and she should have gone home before Pia, imo.
