American Idol New Season

I didn’t think that Steven Tyler even remembered the words to “Dream On”…he mumbled most of the song until the scream.

I never liked Scotty after he was mean to a poor little guy who wanted to join his group way back in the beginning of the season. The kid was desperate for a group and he basically told the guy to get lost. The judges scolded him and he apologized, but that was after the fact when it didn’t matter.

Bayberry, I disagree … Scotty didn’t specifically push the kid away … he just simply watched awkwardly as another Idol-wanna-be was mean. Later on, he specifically mentioned his disappointment in himself for not speaking up, but he didn’t initiate. Geez, he was only 16/17 at the time and didn’t even think he would make it, so I’m sure he was overwhelmed.

Ellemenope, I wish I could have sat with you in the same room watching Idol this year. Your insight is terrific.

SnowflakeVT is correct! In fact I think we went through that somewhere earlier in the thread. It the sunglass-wearing-DJ who was the mean one. But later Scotty did say he should of defended that kid.

I loved Carrie Underwood, but I thought showing up in white shorts was kinda odd. Agree that Lauren’s outfits are all hideous. She must have Wynona Judd’s stylist.

I thought Carrie looked adorable. Lauren looked matronly next to her in her outfit.

^ I definitely agree. Carrie actually looked younger/cuter!

Oh, and I agree with all of your comments about JLo’s effrontery to get up on stage with Marc Anthony and dance like that

I don’t listen to hardly any country, but I loved Scotty  I liked Lauren Alana also! I didn’t care which one won! I think Jennifer is so beautiful!!! It was fun seeing what she wore each night. Steven Tyler was hilarious :)

Barbie Idol always looks cuter and younger. And, she comes with a display stand!

The couch would get kind of crowded with me, you, my min pin and my 87 year old neighbor who is my DWTS and AI watching buddy! But thanks…

Listening and watching Lauren, you’d think that she could step right into country star mode. But when she sang with Carrie Underwood, you could compare the two and you could see that she isn’t quite ready for prime time yet…in the way she carried herself and the tone of her voice. Carrie Underwood was amazing.

I remember watching a few episodes of Idol when Carrie competed. I was interested in her transformation once she went “pro.” Lost weight, they put her in fashionable clothes, much better hairdo and make up–it was like watching a cross between Biggest Loser and What Not to Wear. Lauren will have to undergo a similar transformation.

“I remember watching a few episodes of Idol when Carrie competed. I was interested in her transformation once she went “pro.” Lost weight, they put her in fashionable clothes, much better hairdo and make up”

Yeah, remember when she had big hair? I still thought she was beautiful then, too. She is a very classy lady, but much better looking now.

I enjoyed seeing Steven Tyler sing, it’s about the only useful thing he’s done all season. But what, did he sing for about 30 seconds? I mean, come on, that was miniscule. Listened to much worse music all night and they shorted us on his entire reason for being?

I agree with the comment about Tim McGraw’s hat being pulled down too far. Why do some country singers do that? Especially him, he is great looking. Though I was surprised that Scotty seemed to sound better than him in the duet.

Two minutes and five seconds of Steven Tyler…

I liked Steven in the audition portion of the show, but once he got to the live shows, he just seemed to fade into the woodwork (except for short bursts of funkiness) and didn’t have much to say.

Agree that Scotty held his own in his duet with Tim McGraw.

Exactly.

I heard Lauren and Scotty on whatever radio network Ryan Seacrest DJ’s this morning when I was driving. They asked Lauren straight out whether she was dating Scotty. After a lot of kidding around, she straight out said No. Scotty came on next, with her and Ryan. More kidding around. More definite No’s to a dating thing.

I went to you-know-where and looked at some of Carrie Underwood Idol performances. Great voice, but her stage movement was pitiful. She’s come a long way as a professional–obviously has worked hard.

It was fun to look at her audition too, knowing that it was the start to superstardom. She was so cute–talking about how she helped her dad on the farm and so didn’t have a lot of the “kid” experiences that others had while they were growing up.

She’s a long way from the farm now…

yup, agreed, ellemenope. Heres here audition tape (now allowed to post these) [YouTube - ‪Carrie Underwood Audition‬‏](<a href=“Carrie Underwood Audition - YouTube”>Carrie Underwood Audition - YouTube)

If you want to have some fun, watch the youtube video of a Carrie Underwood/Steven Tyler duet of Undo It/Walk This Way. Great fun!

^^^ That was an awesome performance.

What was the name of the group with the 3 Italian teen guys who sang some Italian songs on one of the AI shows?

Edit: NVM - I found it - Il Volo

Ucsducladad … I don’t blame you for wanting to know their names … they were adorable. I think they were all 16 or 17 and from Italy.

I loved those guys!
