Starts Wednesday! I know the early haul of AI can be cumbersome - the auditions and all - but it’s the final season - who’s in to whine, gloat and complain about it ONE MORE TIME?!!!
Our family AI story: Never watched season one - not one episode. Starting watching season 2 when my then 13 year old started thudding on the floor over Clay Aiken. She got us hooked (on the show AND on Clay Aiken for awhile!) and we watched it as a family from there on out (except my H) - this will be the first season I won’t have a kid of my own home with me to watch it as my last one started college this year.
But I’ll be there - each Wednesday, Thursday or whatever nights they show it. Sometimes watching live, often watching DVR’d. But I’ll watch - will you???
And for people who aren’t interested, why bother to post on this thread?
I’m looking forward to it. Thanks for the reminder to start recording, abasket. I just wonder if I’m going to be as annoyed with the judges as before. The camera constantly lingering on Jennifer instead of allowing us to watch the contestants, oh no, I hope they manage to get it right this year. And give us contestants who are actually good singers!
I got stuck watching one season when I thought it would be nice to have a tv show the whole family could watch together. S and H agreed but after The first few shows they dumped it - but I had to watch until the end to see who won. Never again.
Hey, abasket, is it too late to retitle your thread to something like, “Let’s watch it together,” as opposed to asking, “Shall we watch together?” I wonder if every other post is going to be a, “No, let’s not watch it together,” which is pretty useless for this thread…which quite obviously is for people who are interested in watching AI.
I’ve watched from the beginning but glad this is the last year. It’s the only reality show we watch but it takes up a lot of time. We’ve been watching less tv this year but I don’t think we can miss AI.
We’ll be watching. It is our annual “countdown to summer” since it ends close to when summer starts. Not sure what we will use to mark the time next year. AI has been a reliable marker for many years now.
Yes! We haven’t watched it since Simon left, what year was that? I started watching the last couple episodes of Season 1 and we were hooked. Great family show to watch with the kids, and we just loved Simon. I’m glad he is back for this and DH and I agreed last night after a commercial we would watch it!
I didn’t realize Simon was coming back. Though he is a shallow, insufferable jerk, he does make the show more interesting. And I doubt we will hear any of the false praise, and endless “beautiful” comments from him.
I don’t think there has been any confirmation of Simon coming back - MAYBE if they are lucky he will make an appearance at the finale or something but I don’t think you’ll get more than that.
I have read that several past contestants are slated to come back for appearances - hopefully throughout the season.
Oh darn, I was hoping for an end to the constant positive comments, even when the contestant was awful. Not that I want them to be Simon style cruel, just honest.
My D and I started watching during Season 4, I think. We primarily watched the auditions and watched less and less as the season wore on. If she’s around tonight, I’ll try to entice her to watch once more for old time’s sake. Once she’s back at school, I’m not sure I’ll continue to watch or not.
We got free tickets to the TV taping of a holiday show featuring season 7 runner up David Archuleta when D was about 11. We had seats very close in and during an intermission, he stopped by, said hi and signed her shoe (!). Major highlight of young life to that point!
Alrighty - first show down! I’m sure people will post things about aired shows so if you don’t want to be spoilered for something that has aired, be careful reading!
A good mix of funny, sappy and good to see some old faces tonight. A few more flops than I care to see.
Tops for me: the young black guy who lost his brother. The 20 year old Indian girl - I REALLY tend to favor male singers but her voice was AWESOME!
New rule: You should not be able to show your baby/cute child till AFTER you audition! And wow, that couple with the baby - the wife really seemed ticked off!!!
Guess this is one year they can’t say “you’re not ready yet - come back next year”.
