Who’s watching?
ME!!! I’ll come back when it’s done.
I am watching but I DVR’d it, an Manny just sang,
A waste of a night IMO. The contestants sang old songs. Only one judge commented on each singer. What was that?! And, their comments - mostly empty. Ugh. Plus their songs were so short.
They are SOOO rushing this season.
I was happy to see Dalton and Olivia in the top 4. Now rooting for Mackenzie, Avalon and Lee (he’s just too cute and you can tell he SOO wants this ride to continue - he needs to be able to take criticism though!) .
I wonder if they really picked their “top 4”. I doubt for instance that all 3 of them couldn’t agree on Avalon for instance. I say they may have picked a couple that they liked but who they were afraid might not get the votes (like Trent). And then they knew that some (like MacKenzie) would be shoo-ins and safe through voting. (His social media accounts far outnumber most of the other contestants).
I wasn’t asking about the Pacific time zone because of spoilers. I was asking so I will know what time to plan to be watching TV. I don’t have DVR at home. Is it 7 or 8 on the west coast?
@sbasket, I was thinking the same thing about who the judges picked.
I root for Mackenzie, Lee, Avalon and Sonika (even though Sonika’s music is not my style), my music style is Mackenzie and Lee.
My picks for the ones going home are Manny, Thomas, Jenn and Jeneve.
In the past, the performance show the first night was 2 hours and the results show 1 hour. I don’t know why it is reversed this year, but it really does feel rushed when they cram so many performances in one hour.
So who got picked? Dalton, Olivia, Trent and who?
LaPorsha.
La Porsha was the 4th.
Think most people sound pretty good. Harry really nailed Thomas for his affectation, didn’t think Avalon sounded that great, not sure why she’s still there.
Jenn is not doing it for me either, every word sung in a whine. Harry loved it, I am irritated.
@busdriver11 totally agree! I cannot understand the appeal of Jenn. I really like Mackenzie- so talented.
@oscar63, I fell asleep after Jenn, or maybe after Jeneve. Don’t think I’ve ever done that before during American Idol. Either they were very dull, or I was really tired (which explains my crankiness). Let me go home and watch it, rested, with a good glass of wine and I might have a different perspective.
Sorry I missed Mackenzie. Did he do well?
If it were up to me, I’d send Jeneve, Jenn, Manny and Thomas, but I think that Sonika may go before Thomas.
Actually, if it were up to me, Trent wouldn’t be there but, sadly, no one asked my opinion.
Mackenzie sang his own original song that he sang in Hollywood week (right?). I didn’t care for the lighting but he was great. When you talk about "package’ - he (and a couple others) have it. Just a voice doesn’t cut it.
I’m glad he did well. He seems very appealing to me, as I like contestants who are genuine, unaffected, kind and appreciative. I never care for the ones who appear selfish, too full of themselves, or too “Hollywood” already. However, I realize that much of our impressions are based upon little snippets of whatever the producers allow us to see.
@busdriver11 Mackenzie is terrific! He has maybe done a little better in other performances- but I think he is such a talented musician. He sang his own song- adorable and yes humble! I really like Lee, I think he is so talented also. Gianna- is very good. Her mom bugs me! Ha!
Last night they labeled Tristan as country. I don’t remember what she has sung in prior rounds, but I didn’t really think she was country. I must have been asleep. lol
Another annoying thing about AI and this format. So the 10 that sang last night? They had to stand through the anguish of hearing whether or not they are one of the chosen “4” and then, on the spot, try to throw those nerves out the window and put on a great performance. The point is, they are NOT professionals - they ARE amateurs, not JLo!! It’s one thing to hear at the end of the show that you are coming back next week - and then have the week to prepare - it’s another thing to get riled up for one pick and then have to put out a great performance for an immediate vote!
@musicmom Tristan was not country at all!
