Why is Sonika so overdressed?
That was one weird outfit.
All of the outfits and makeup and a lot if the hairstyles have been bizarre. Those glitter eyebrow things last night? Strange.
Most of them were much more casual but I noticed Sonika to be wearing quite a bit of gowns.
I don’t get the glittered eyebrow thing. I think I’m going to go bake some cookies during commercial break.
OK. Apparently I don’t know Kelly’s life story, but that song was heart-wrenching. Did her father abandon her?

When they cut to Keith Urban- sheesh, hard to hold it together. Love that song!
On her website she says she wrote the song about the pain she, and so many children, feel who are abandoned by a parent.
I need to watch again to see Keith apparently!
My top performers: Avalon, Dalton, Olivia, Mackenzie and I’ll give Sonika a high five for coming out after the judges when over the top nuts over La Porsha - and Sonika showed that she had some good stuff too! (but yeah, her gown…)
My bottom: GIANNA, TRISTIN. I just can’t warm up to Trent. And Lee is cute but I don’t think he can last. I’m glad he made it this far though.
La Porsha was good, but for ME, she was WAY over the top theatrical. That has a place, but I don’t know that is has a place in the pop world. I still think she would be great at Broadway. I’ll keep zipped for now on some of my other thoughts for her and see how the next couple weeks play out!

I thought Gianna and Tristan were the weakest tonight, too. I noticed the judges don’t use the word “pitchy” any more, but that was pitchy, Dog. said in my best Randy Jackson voice
I’d never heard “Piece by Piece” before. I read about Kelly’s life, and it seems to be very autobiographical: her Dad abandoned her, but she chose a man who will never abandon his own daughter. Wow, so emotional. DH may lose it when he hears her sing that, because it’s the story of his life; being abandoned at the age of 8, as an adult experiencing that person re-entering his life when there is something to be gained by doing so, and becoming the father who would never, ever abandon his own child.
Gah…I’m a wreck now…

I so wish Sonka had stage presence, I hate when she looks at the camera. Her voice is so pretty.
I am so, so thankful Avalon made it through but so, so sad that Olivia did not. UGH. I think she has a lot of talent .
Very insightful that there were 3 girls in the bottom three.
Loved Lee’s performance tonight - he is adorable and I think though his performance was not perfect, it was something different for him and very fun to watch.
I still love Mackenzie and Dalton!
La Portia is good, but will never be my cup of tea. Her persona is also non-desirable to me. Does everything have to be over the top/big? The hair, the dress and bling, the loud powerful voice in every song.
JLo needs to quit calling out winners.
And the judges should have not been able to make comments on the bottom three performances. It became very awkward - and obvious - when they praised Avalon - and then did not give Olivia or Gianna the same glowing feedback. At that point you knew Avalon would be the lucky one.
Agree that JLo needs to quit calling out winners, it’s rude and unfair.
I was REALLY surprised about Olivia, they were absolutely gaga over her the last few weeks!
Well, they could only save one! Avalon is very current and IMO also very good. But bummer for Olivia. The trouble here is the voting. Also, when you get under 10 contestants you are bound to lose a good one or two.
No comment on Demi Levato? That was painful.
I was sorry to see Olivia go. She has a natural powerful rock voice, but I wish she didn’t have to compete against the tween voters that go for the cutie emo boys (Dalton, Mackenzie and the other young man, not Trent).
Sonika was another one besides MacKenzie that was on The Voice. She has s terrific voice but just needs more life experience to put it in the right context of songs she has sung.
