American University Early Action / Early Decision for Fall 2025 Admissions

Same, just posted in the other outcomes thread, was not offered any Merit just the standard $5500 loan. Agree, this is way under others we received.

Son was admitted and decision letter says he got into the Cornerstone program (second paragraph). But the special academic program application page (he applied to honors program) is blank.

Those who have received news, did your child receive an email stating the decision has been made or did they just check directly themselves?

Checked on portal.

Can you please share your daughter’s stats?

Stats are in the main outcomes thread.

Anyone else’s kid have to wait till 1/31?! Tad bid disappointed. This is AU not UT Austin.

A bit confused — did your student hear from AU directly that they won’t get their decision until 1/31? Also where does UT Austin come into it?

My son received an email stating he will have to wait until 1/31 or before to hear back. UT Austin received 90k+ applicants, it makes sense that some people will have to wait till Feb, due to the HIGH volume. All of the EA decisions for AU should’ve came out today.

I’m assuming it has something to do with his individual application as opposed to the volume. Maybe a late LOR, grades or something? I’ve heard of that happening in the past where if an application component was late the decision was released late. The UT Austin comparison still doesn’t fit in here though

Are you the comparison police? The application was submitted early October and the college counselor sent things in on time. Also this is the first year they are offering EA, in which decision round did you hear this happening before?

I’m not the comparison police, just someone with a lot of knowledge on this process and school trying to understand where you’re coming from.
UT Austin is a giant state school that is almost entirely different from AU, so I’m just trying to understand what you’re saying and why it’s being brought up.
As for cases of this happening, I’ve chatted with a student from this year’s ED1 cycle who had a late LOR and a pushed decision date, as well as a couple of students in similar circumstances in past years.
I’d suggest your student ask their admissions counselor why the decision was delayed.

Received email, but then again, they didn’t check until 6:30 pm.

My '25 applied to RIT (also first year of EA) and while bigger than American, tiny in comparison to UT. Still waiting on EA as is almost everyone and they may even miss their own deadline.

Also still waiting on URI, which released a huge number in December (and didn’t announce clearly only some were coming out in Dec) and then slowly are rolling out in Jan. Same as AU, really.

Colleges are in charge here, which sucks, but is the system unfortunately. I don’t think them delaying a few is all that weird.

I’d like to push back on this a little if only to say that the releases from AU in December were all ED1, and all of EA came out today except for this one (and likely a few others). AU has never been in the business of doing rolling releases, hence why I assume this is due to problems with individual applications.
