America's Got Talent, American Idol, XFactor, etc.

I was a little surprised that they sent anyone home this week since Jermaine was kicked off. I expected Ryan to say at the last minute that everyone was safe.

Can someone explain to me why they like Phillip? I completely don’t get it. Sure, he’s a nice young guy who is a good musician, but he makes all his songs sound the same way. He’s got about a 3 note range, and there is nothing whatsoever interesting or compelling about his voice. Do not understand at all!

I tend to like a raspy voice on a guy. I loved and still love David Cook and his raspy voice. Phillip has heart and soul when he sings and energy without being over the top like IMO Joshua.

First, Phillip has the feel of a real musician. He at first appeared contrived in how he sang, but now that he’s relaxed and is just enjoying himself (other than some major discomfort due to a kidney stone and surgery) he is really showing his true talent. Second, he has a great vibe with other musicians, so his performance is tight. Third, he’s good looking and fit, and Fourth, he comes off as a good person and has a likable personality. And last, his mouth looks great when he sings … great teeth without looking LA white and straight.

I’m glad Shannon was kicked off … for her age she was great, but she should stick to volleyball and pageants. She is not a real musician, just a well trained one.

Okay, I see that about Phillip, but…he just doesn’t sound very good to me. I like to walk away from the tv and just listen, and he just sounds kind of boring and without any range to me, so I don’t really care about appearances. I loved David Cook, thought he was fantastic, but I don’t see any comparison, can’t imagine listening to an album of that boredom. Maybe I just need to keep listening and will eventually hear what you do.

Based on singing ability alone, HeeJun needs to go next. Actually, he probably should have gone first.

I’m not liking Elise. She wears her emotions on her face too much which makes her look like she has a bad attitude.

“Based on singing ability alone, HeeJun needs to go next. Actually, he probably should have gone first.”

Thank you! I was thinking it was me with regard to Heejun. This is a singing competition, not comedy show. I was hoping he wouldnt even make the top 24. He must have a large voter pool out there. His head nodding while singing makes me crazy too.

Oh man–Skylar (Country girl)–I couldn’t wait for her performance tonight to end. Her voice hurt my head.

Curley Long haired kid (forgot his name)—terrible, just absolutely terrible.

nysmile, I haven’t watched yet this week … usually Skylar gets rave reviews. Did you ever like her or was her performance especially bad tonight?

How did my buddy Heejun do? I have so much catching up to do when I get home! How about my fav, Joshua? I hope he knocked people’s socks off again.

If someone is bored, please PM me all the details if they don’t want to share with the forum yet. Curiosity killed the snowflake.

^Heejun just finished performing. All I can say is you have to see it to believe it. Not very good.

I liked Colten the best tonight.

Colton totally made me swoon. I’ll buy that song tomorrow. Phillip also great. Loved how both of them stay true to their own image of themselves.

I read that Heejun was happy to make the tour and wasn’t going to take tonight too seriously. It was fun and somewhat entertaining but I think Steven was ticked off! Wonder if that was heejuns way of sticking it to Lovine and tommy H.

The girls bored me tonight. Skylar is usually my fav gal but she was just ok tonight.

DeAndre - fun song, lucky for him-the fun of the song might put him through, because he was not fun. Pitchy as all get out, altho Randy didn’t say so. Does not deserve to stay.

I thought Erika nailed New York State of Mind. West Coaster here, that’s as far as I’ve gotten, but had to come over here and see what the peeps are saying.

Joshua - I liked what he did at first, but when he/they turned it into Gospel… I didn’t think that worked.

Skylar - did nothing for me.

I thought Philip was brilliant.

Holly bothers me. Pageanty in how she interprets a song. To me, she managed to make bell bottoms and a bustier look like a pageant outfit. She can go home with DeAndre, as far as I’m concerned. (hmmm, I’m mean).

I realize that my love for Heejun is futile. He had his time several weeks ago. Oh well.

Jessica - forgot what Diddy taught her. Her “makeover” of Billy Joel’s song was way off target, imo.

Colton - I think he’s the one. Another great performance from him. Nothing derivative about this kid.

I thought Erika was the only one worth a damn tonite–she’s got a mature, fully developed voice and style and a lovely tone, knows how to put across a song, and was one of the few who managed to stay on key for every note and not sound like she had marbles in her mouth. But she’s totally not the 21st century pop star type and will be gone quite soon. Hopefully the exposure will get her some nice gigs after the tour.

I liked Jessica Sanchez the best tonight, followed by Erika and Philip. Colton gave another really good performance and I love him on the piano, but he just doesn’t have a pleasing enough tone to his voice. I liken him to Elise, great piano work (she should have been on one tonight, imo) but there are better voices in the competition. Love how Philip stays true to himself. This should take him very far with the voters.

I liked Erika’s new hair makeover and loved how Philip did his same old thing. I hated Hollie’s outfit, especially her jacket, and didn’t think Jessica’s dress showed off her body much, including those gorgeous legs of hers. Heejun or DeAndre may be in trouble Thursday night, but who knows… remember Sinjaya?

Loved Erika’s new look! It made her sound better…I wasn’t so distracted by her frumpiness. Skylar didn’t have it tonight–her song sounded too screechy. Colton and Elise were wonderful. I also liked Jessica.

I think Heejun and DeAndre could be in trouble tonight. Hollie didn’t wow me either…Sinjaya was before my time, but I remember the buzz about how he just wouldn’t go!

Oh, my poor Heejun might be a goner tonight before I even catch up on my Tivo? Bummer.

When I found out they were doing Billy Joel I told DD, “I hope Colton sings Piano Man”. WOW!!! He is just a more mature performer than the rest of the crew. It was especially obvious during the recaps at the end.

Skylar-Billy Joel just isn’t her thing. This is what I don’t like about Idol, in the real world she would never be asked to sing a song like that. I don’t see what it “proves” is she can nail a Billy Joel song or not. None of the girls really did well, but his songs are not written for female voices, much like the boys when they did the Whitney songs.

We decided that Heejun will make a GREAT cruise ship entertainer where he can tell a few jokes, sing a few songs and interact with the audience. I think he may be gone after last night. I am NOT looking forward to “BBBBBBBBenny and the Jets” tonight.
