America's Got Talent, American Idol, XFactor, etc.

Please tell me why there is so much praise on the show for DeAndre? His voice makes me want to leave the room. His hair flipping is so annoying. I don’t have a problem with long hair on young men, but he is way too into the flipping and caressing of his hair. I do not want to hear him sing another song–ever! I don’t want to hear song after song completely sung in falsetto. Throw it in once in a while, but not the entire song.

The country girl is annoying me too. Scream, scream, and more scream.

The young blond girl with the strange pronunciation of words is boring me too. She has no personality.

Elise–I just don’t know what to think of her. I know this sounds harsh, but she seems and looks to old to draw in young people to buy her songs.

Philip–I like him. He’s cute and definitely great at what he does. Unfortunately, everything sounds the same. He’s talented and he’ll sell records, but I don’t know how long the sales will last. After one album, I think people might get bored.

Jessica–She has the chops, but not much personality. I have a feeling she’s spent most of her life standing on stage in one spot and singing diva songs. She’s probably one of those kids who’s parent/parents had them on stage at the age of 4 or 5, dressed in mini adult evening gowns, and singing Whitney Houston and Marian Carey songs.

Colten–he’ll have a career whether he wins AI or not. I kind of hope he loses so he can cut himself from AI strings and start recording. Rather than going solo, he really should be the front man for a band–like Brandon Flowers (the Killers) and Chris Martin (Coldplay).

Add me to the DeAndre must go list. His performances are awful. I liked Skylar at first but she seems to be a one trick pony…too much yelling and jumping around. She needs to choose a ballad to prove she can really sing.

Agreeing with everyone here. Loved HeeJun’s personality, singing not so much.

Not sure who is my favorite. I can be pretty sure that whoever wins will fade into obscurity quite quickly!

AI needs its winner every now and then to become a mega star to validate the show. The show must be very pleased with Scotty McCreery doing so well. Is it just easier for country performers to become stars? Any rock contestants make it big? Adam Lambert seems to have fallen off the grid (and into Swedish jails)–I thought he had the best chance of making it big…

Kelly Clarkson is pretty big still I think. I cannot STAND Scotty… I mute when he starts singing. I tried to listen to him this week on the show, but failed. I love Johnny Cash, too… so that’s not why. Love Adam (but he wasn’t a winner). Daughtry (also non winner) is also pretty successful from what I’ve seen and David Cook is great too. Jordan Sparks isn’t country and is successful. Sometimes it takes awhile for their careers to catch up.

Don’t forget Carrie Underwood (non-winner), the biggest AI star ever according to her bank account records. But, then again, you have winners like Kris Allen who has all but disappeared from the limelight if you aren’t looking real hard.

And how about Rueben Studdard and the guy with the gray hair?

Carrie Underwood won Season 4.

^Here are two links to the better auditions from tonight’s Britain’s Got Talent.

Kelly Clarkson was a guest mentor on The Voice. She seems really nice and I love how she sings…

cartera, You are right. I thought she was runner-up. I hope I at least got the top-earning part correct.

Once again, thanks NYsmile … I love a good audition.

Finally watched the last of the Battle Rounds on The Voice. I was looking forward to seeing The Line (the male/female duet) perform again. They sang the Stones’ “Satisfaction” against the hip hop guy. What the heck?!! The female of the duet seemed really, really upset after the results…

Did anyone watch last night? I’m just now catching up on it on my DVR and three performances in, wow, all I can say is, so far not so good.

ellemenope, Yes, I agree, she seemed almost annoyed with her partner, as if he held her back from getting to the next round. Negative points for her attitude.

The Voice last night was interesting … I think Christina did have a hard choice to make, and am not sure I agreed, but she must see more opportunity for the young girl versus the girl with the strong voice. I was kind of hoping she would pick the rapper guy that actually sang pretty well. I think he has unlimited potential with the right coaching. His personality is perfect for fan-love.

Blakes options were more obvious. The right people were picked.

AI is on now. So far—rough, very rough. Ugh.

Another night where I found myself longing for Simon’s comments.

Much of AI was a snooze first for me tonight. We’re the 80’s that bad?! Colton was my fav again even though I despise that song!!!

I dunno, I just don’t get this show anymore–or I’m just too old and crotchety for it. None of this year’s crop interests me in the slightest, and the standing ovation for Skylar’s hideous caterwauling floored me. Bye Idol, it’s been swell, but we’ve grown apart…

West coast checking in. Agree with momma. I admire Coltens musicality but AI having him sing islands in the stream with Skylar was just too much for me.
