America's Got Talent, American Idol, XFactor, etc.

Oh my goodness—Skylar’s voice annoys my ears. All she does is scream the song. Terrible. She totally blew her duet tonight. Poor Colten keeps getting matched up with her. Yucky pairing!

I hope she’s the next one to go home. Well, actually a toss up–I wouldn’t mind if Holly went home either.

i actually liked Holly tonight…but judges still tough on her…

I actually voted a few times for Hollie tonight. I think there are a couple of others who need to go home before she does. And I never vote.

Not finished yet here on the West Coast, but I still think Hollie is the next to go. Maybe Philip.

So far it has been a pretty good night. I’m starting to like Jessica. At first I thought she was somewhat dull, but her voice is growing on me.

I really don’t like the duets, etc that they are doing. At least it’s not like the Thursday nights with the cheesy song and dance numbers.

Tonight I thought the performances overall were considerably better than last week. My standouts were Joshua and Jessica. They not only performed and sounded great but they looked great also.

I was glad to see Colton and Elise get behind their pianos once again. I liked Skylar’s “solo” better than nysmile, but agree, that she should try to stay away from those big notes.

I wish Hollie defined what kind of singer she wanted to be weeks ago. She’s sung everything from soup to nuts over the past several weeks and, although I love her voice, I have no idea what genre she will end up embracing. If she didn’t have that darn Liverpool English accent, I could almost see her more as a country crossover artist.

Phil Phil sounds exactly the same week to week, regardless of song choice. I’m in agreement with many of you that his gig get old quickly. Jimmy said Phil Phil was ahead of Colton during Colton’s rehearsal. Wonder if he still thinks that after Thursday night. The only negative for Colton is he is paired up with Skylar and that may not help him get the votes he otherwise may have gotten.

Bottom 3: Skylar, Hollie, and Phil Phil (or possibly Colton).

Elise made a good comeback last night. Thought Joshua was great. Colton was really good too but he does sound like a lot of guys you already hear on the radio every day.
Even though I’m don’t think Hollie is great,I feel sorry for her because they judges make it so obvious that they don’t like her. All they could say was “you look great tonight”.

The judges were so rude to Hollie - “you look beautiful” is the kiss of death on AI.

I was so angry last night - the judges have totally picked their favorites in Jessica and Joshua - the amount of pimping and special treatment that Joshua has received is unbelievable! The crawfish a few weeks ago. Last week, the special singer stopping by. The video from home. Last night, the message from Fantasia - calling his family up on stage…he gets face time just about every week!

Jessica is not my cup of tea. She sounds just like a dozen other females on the radio today. And I want to say to her, “will you just look/act like 16 every once in awhile?!!” - she has diva written all over her to me.

Colton’s song last night gave me goosebumps head to toe. I will buy it on Itunes.

I liked Hollie tonight but I still don’t get her styling. Try closing your eyes and listening to her. Her voice is great but they are dressing her like an old lady and the young kids who vote the most aren’t going to vote for that. Even last night, she sings a Pink song but she is dressed like Celine Dion. It’s almost like they want her to lose.

I think that Joshua is a complete package already, so it makes it easy for AI and the judges to pamper him. He already has the exposure he needed to get more famous and move ahead in this wild music business. They are now just riding his coattails. Hollie is lovely, but frankly is as stiff as a board on stage. The judges realize that she is just not ready yet to loosen up and enjoy music to the extent of her vocal talent. She actually showed her real self most when they showed her and Joshua goofing off in their downtime … too bad that version of her isn’t comfortable on stage.

Phillip fell a few notches in my book … his formula is getting old, and I’m a big fan of his musicality and personality. I hope he looks a little deeper into what he wants out of this and goes for it. The cool-dude act about not caring is going to come back and bite him.

I also think Elise is ready for something bigger … she has vocal talent and experience that is more evident when she sings a more complex song. Jessica is pretty amazing for her age … her only flaw is that her body looks twelve and her voice sounds 30, so I can’t figure out what market she will do best. I personally wouldn’t pay to see her, but I would pay to see Elise, even though Jessica’s powerhouse voice is better, because I like more complex vocals anyday.

signing off …

Hollie is really trying, but nothing she does seems to do quite works. I can’t put my finger on it, but Snowflake’s remark comes the closest.

Jessica picked a much better song last night and amped up her performance. But Joshua is still miles ahead of the others, in my opinion. Just the way he moves on the stage and sings–you feel like you’re watching a pro up there.

Elise had a much better week. Phillip not so much…

Hollie has dodged a bullet more than once. Can she do it again?

I totally agree with ellemnope and SnowflakeVT who called him the “complete package”. He’s also getting consistently styled each week, wearing fashionable and well-tailored suits or jackets, giving him a very sophisticated look with a little fun thrown in (those crazy, colorful socks).

I agree with Snowflake that Hollie is stiff and to me seems pageanty. She has a good voice. I could see her as an actress actually even though I don’t like her accent (and I normally love English accents). I like Colton and Elise, and I agree that Joshua is polished and professional and Jessica is talented vocally. Phillip - I like him, but I’m tired of his one-note smirky expression when he sings. Yes, his eyes twinkle - but he doesn’t seem to have any emotional range. I hope Hollie goes home.

Apparently Simon Cowell has signed Britney Spears to a contract to be a judge on X Factor. She’ll earn $15 million for the season which makes her the highest paid judge on reality tv. J-Lo won’t like that! :)

^Either will LA Reid!

I wonder how the contestants are styled on AI. I may be wrong but in years past didn’t they style themselves and had a certain amount of money to spend each week. I remember it being talked about in Adam Lambert’s year, that he spent over his amount to get the look he wanted.

Holly is dressed like an old woman, Skyler, I don’t know what to say about her style. Sometimes it is so unflattering. But Jessica always looks like a million bucks. If I’m not mistaken, she had Louboutin shoes on. Steven Tyler even commented that she and Jennifer had the same shoes on.

I read today that Jessica is a youtube sensation and that AI is grooming her to win.

I guess I’m getting tired on the pandering and favoritism on the judges parts. The only honest one is Jimmy and we don’t hear him until after the votes are in.

The judges MUST use the save tonight or next week. It’s a MUST situation since they lost an elim night with jermaine earlier in the season and now have an extra show to fill.

IMO opinion , I don’t know if it is the goal of some contestants ( like Phillip) to win AI. He actually reminds me much of crystal Bowersox a couple years back in that he knows what he wants to be , what kind of music he wants to do and what clothes he wants to wear and he has no intention to stray from that for the powers that be. Crystal is today doing just what she wants to do. Which is make music but largely stay out of the limelight.

These contestants decide to try out for AI with a random shot of getting somewhere. There are likely more than one person on that stage who had no real thought of making it this far and they might be quite satisfied to finish anywhere at this point.

Abasket, you make an excellent point. Phillip should not want to win since he already knows who he wants to be, so winning AI would be against his basic principle as a self-grown artist. I do admire that about him and Crystal.

Sorry about some of my grammar etc in above post - my fingers fly across the iPad without careful spelling!

Was I the only one who thought it was weird that a guy would notice something like that. But considering that it came from a guy who accessorizes better than most women…maybe I shouldn’t have been surprised, LOL.
