I really can’t. I watch Survivor after a very long day at work, and this season seems to be flashing by. I was definitely disappointed last week, not so much this week.
I was listening to one of the Survivor podcasts today - and I was thinking with the fast season and less contestants (right? There were less to begin with?) I wonder if the jury will be the same size.
They started with 18 players, the same number as in every season where they begin with 3 tribes. The jury when starting with 3 tribes has varied between 7 and 8. How many will be on the jury this year is pure speculation.
I finally caught up. We watched two episodes tonight. So far, kinda boring.
@abasket I think they put that challenge back in the game, especially since the blue tribe is still clueless. The show can’t keep Xander without a vote at tribal forever. Or can they?
I agree that it’s more boring this year. I can’t figure out why. Maybe it’s because they seem to have excluded anyone who might cause controversy. Everyone’s rather blah, but good people. But in the past it was fun to watch sneaky, conniving people, and wait to see them get their comeuppance. This year you don’t see the distrust, or urgency to get idols. Heck, one tribe still hasn’t found the 3-way idol, which I guess is nullified now that Brad is gone. It would have been interesting to see how that played out, but now we’ll never know.
I guess it’s a sign of the times that those types of people don’t seem to be included this year. But they were fun to watch.
I think it’s early in the season. Sometimes the show is edited with some thought to what we need to know so that later in the season makes sense. The show knows how things end up - so sometimes they have to edit to stage what the viewer needs to know.
I’m so happy to have it to watch - I’m not complaining!
I think its been the lack of BIG blindsides and strong personalities. I also don’t like the “risk your vote, protect your vote” thing.
Brad not looking at JD and Ricard getting water, while spying, because when hunting animals, they’ll know that you’re watching them? Oy.
Keep Tiffany over Voce? Keep the “wacky” (shown so far, but maybe not in real life) over the keeping the tribe physically stronger in challenges, so the tribe will be decimated when they eventually merge? I don’t like that strategy.
I also don’t like the immunity idols, which can’t be activated until someone from all three tribes finds the clue and somehow works in the “broccoli, butterflies and astro turf” phrases. I wince every time those phrases are mentioned. Just have a regular old immunity idol that can be played at tribal council.
Jeff seemed like he was losing his voice and his tribal council “intro” was unnecesssary IMO.
BTW, Astro Turf is a brand name. Hopefully, the company got some money for the mentions.
I was sad to see JD go. A little immature, as noted by his teammates (“money”), but whenever he talked about his love of the game, I would smile. Good move by Shanda.
Wow, I sort of held my breath at that tribal council. I did not think it was a given that Jeannie would go. I was happy that Ricard did not bow to Shan’s request to turn over his advantage (or Idol I forget which he has…). I gained some respect and warmed up to him this episode.
Lots of angst on the internet/podcast world with last week’s episode…no one eliminated, person sent to Exile Island for 2 days/nights by themselves. Hourglass twist which she should surely do. Why did they just not make it a 2 hour episode?
Yes of course you’re right! I read some people saying - why did Jeff tell us off the bat that no one would be eliminated? Was sort of an invite to put off watching the episode!
My wife and I watched the last two episodes this past weekend. We were confused because our DVR had them as Episodes 4 and 6. No Episode 5. But they were sequenced properly in terms of the timeline.
I agree that it was odd to announce in advance that no one will be eliminated.
When one tribe dominates challenges and doesn’t go to tribal, they don’t get much air time and the viewers don’t know much about the cast members. There were a couple of quotes about Ricard & Shan having more experience playing the game or that the blue tribe had a lack of experience. It makes me think that the blue tribe will crumble.
Shan seems like a savvy player so why did she talk to Liana about the advantage in front of Tiffany? Shan is playing the role of narrator which makes me thing she won’t win but will get some sort of fan favorite prize.
lol, agree on the haircut - a bit past complimentary shaggy…
Shan may be starting to crumble a bit. She likes control - a lot. Talking about Liana’s advantage in front of Tiffany was not ok but maybe intentional? If I was Liana I would have been upset.
I think Shan will have peaked too early. A merge may make her a target - Ricard may see to that.
