Maria and Charlie were playing similar games until Maria started cozying up to the much disliked Q and didn’t pick Liz for the Applebee’s reward. Charlie was saying Maria wouldn’t blindside me (even though he was planning to blindside her) and now he knows the truth.
If Maria wins the next immunity, good chance Charlie goes home. If Charlie wins the next immunity, good chance Maria goes home. If neither wins, I think it will be Maria.
There will most likely be another idol in camp, since it could be used at 5 and Q walked off with one.
Wow wow wow, just watched and I am stunned and completely thrilled that Charlie didn’t go! I thought the writing was in the wall. LOVED the way the show edited it. Basically we saw who everyone vot d for so it really just came down to if Q okayed his idol.
If looks could kill. The red flags going off…Charlie realizing Maria likely voted for him, Maria realizing she got “caught” and now her main comp is still there.
Well, that was interesting.
Liz was completely wrong in thinking she had it made. Nobody on the jury was giving her the million and honestly they all should have wanted to sit next to her (especially given the question about what you would do with the money and all knowing she was a millionaire).
I can not believe Maria didn’t vote for Charlie. She gave a ridiculous answer when asked about it. I honestly think she was just pissed at Charlie for getting her out (even though she had tried to do the same thing with him.) Charlie was completely surprised by it. I don’t think he is going to play uncle to her kids now!
I would have enjoyed a scene with Charlie and Ben going at the song titles again on the last day. That would have been fun.
Once again it boils down to who people like. Kenzie was the most likeable (although all 3 of the finalists were good social players - that frequently does not happen).
I like Kenzie too. In the spirit of the way the game is intended to play, I don’t know that she deserved the win.
Survivor isn’t a popularity contest - if anything the opposite. And I actually don’t like the question about the money - sure it’s what they want but that should be a huge aside - maybe a tiebreaker moment in who you vote for but not the reason to vote for someone
Not only her delusion of she would have beat everyone… ( ) …but also her helping out Kenzie at that challenge. I actually thought it was quick thinking to help Kenzie - and to not give Maria the win. You might say that Liz’s biggest move was that - helping Kenzie win!
Agree with the helping Kenzie move. That was Liz’s best move and they all knew Maria would win if she was in the final 3 (that is not a delusion, she was right about that.)
Also Q’s comment that his decision was based on HIS question and the responses at final tribal - he is SO into himself! I don’t think I could spend much time in a room with that man…
Q was arguing about what happened with Kenzie and the other jury members were agreeing with what Kenzie said. Yes, I like Kenzie, she seems like a very nice person, and she was extremely kind to Ben. But, I also feel that Charlie played the better game. Unlike Maria, he had a solid alliance with another group (she was counting only on Q as her second alliance.)
I want to add Charlie was the only one of the final three shown figuring out the jury votes. He had made a chart in the sand - he had Maria as voting for him!
We didn’t see Charlie share much gameplay in the final tribal council. I assume if he laid out his big moves and what Maria couldn’t have done without him, they would have shown us that. He seemed focused on the Q vote and not everything else.
While we see Charlie’s strategy, the other contestants do not. He and Maria were the “secret alliance” for quite a while. Even when it was obvious that they were working together, Charlie purposely separated himself from her so that they both wouldn’t go down together (like Q and Maria). Without the other contestants hearing Charlie’s strategy, it came down to three social players.
The same with Liz. We see all of her crazy, but do the other contestants? In the EW interview with Kenzie, she said that she thought Liz had a path to the end.
I found it interesting that Carolyn motivated people to give it a shot and be their true self. I think that may have been why we had so many emotionally unstable people on this season. Season 45 wouldn’t have watched season 44 before applying. Season 46 did. Maybe casting liked Carolyn’s arc and decided to cast more people with similar journeys.
Wondering who Sia will give the money to. I think Ben will probably get the big money.
The post show interviews may give more insight. We see what they choose to see. I saw a pretty controlling and limiting jury (30 seconds folks!!). Also they are limited (as far as we see) to the questions that the jury asks - including a question about what will they do with the money which is a glance into the future but not the last game.
Charlie is a law student. He probably has debate/strategy communication skills. We saw him map out votes. He is the nice calm family dog. Maybe he should have been more bold or forceful? Instead a lot of time was spent in how nice and kind everyone was to each other.
I read online that If Maria had voted for Charlie it would have been a tie and Ben would have to choose and Ben said he would have chosen Charlie. So Maria cost Charlie a million dollars.
Well, you could say that if ANYONE had voted additionally for Charlie he could have won a million. She didn’t and I have to wonder in addition to the price he may have paid to NOT get that vote…what price did she pay to not give it to him (her prerogative of course! )
Maria’s speech about Kenzie and working since she was 15 and being a woman and mother and all that…it was one of those times AS a woman, that I hated that being her course of argument. Do Charlie or Ben not have any hardship story just as humans? Maybe not. Maybe so. Is a struggle in life needed to be worthy of something more/special? Is this a woman issue or just a human issue?
Do I remember hearing/reading that Maria is a doctor??
I’ve watched the Gordon Holmes exit interviews so far. There is definitely no love for Maria and more respect than I expected for Liz.
Ben shared that the final four were together longer than what was shown. He said that both Charlie and Liz had helped emotionally him as well as Kenzie.
Maria is a physical therapist. She didn’t need the money any more than Charlie did.
