Any Survivor Watchers?

I’d like to see a list of former contestants who from the get-go said “no” to being on 50 - like that they didn’t even want to be in the running.

I don’t know that anyone publicly said "“Don’t call me.”. And only Rob Mariano and Elizabeth Hasselback, afaik, have publicly said they declined the invitation. There are unsubstantiated rumors that Tony, Tyson, Sandra, and Jeremy all declined. And production certainly won’t tell us.

Any word on the expected prize package ($2M?) and how much they are paying S50 contestants to just show up on the beach?

$1M

My guess the min is the same as 40 - allegedly $25k

I am a bit surprised Tony turned it down given he, Cirie and Parvati all just played Australian Survivor. Btw, some of the seasons of that show are every bit as good as the best American survivor seasons and I am looking forward to seeing Tony meet his chaotic match.

I agree with the sentiment against rehashing people that have played 3+ times. There are a lot of really good and entertaining players who never even got a second shot that I’d rather see. But I am sure CBS would rather roll out Colby and Ozzy for the average fan. I’m really glad Chrissy got a shot again. I also don’t love seeing three contestants from the same season like season 48 and David versus Goliath.

Like everyone else on this board, I am looking forward to it.

As I have said many times, I found recent series of AU Survivor to be superior to later seasons of the American version.

That said, while I will be watching, I’m less excited by AU v the World. Not only is the time on the island extremely short (16 days!!!), it’s packed with players, like Cirie, returning for the 4th + time. And I say that as a huge fan of Luke Toki and David Genat.

Contestants who have become “professional” Survivor players and “professional” Jeopardy players hold little interest for me—I’d rather see newbies in both cases.

I didn’t need to see 3 people from season 48. I’m surprised they offered a spot to all three.

Interesting. I can’t stand watching the newbies who have spent all their time “studying” the game.

Sadly for Survivor AU fans, Network 10 fired Jonathan LaPaglia, supposedly as a cost-cutting measure. His rumoured replacement will be David Genat, who was a contestant on Australian Survivor: Champions V Contenders II, and again on Australian Survivor: All Stars (which he won), and is a contestant on the upcoming Australian Survivor: Australia V The World. He also recently won the US version of Deal or No Deal Island, winning $5.8M.

Season 49 begins on CBS September 24. Looking forward to it, as always.

I know very few people here watch AU Survivor, but AU v World has been fantastic! I’ve watched every season of American Survivor and 11 AU seasons, and I think most who are watching now would put this season up in top 5 ever if not the very best. Too bad you can’t really watch it in the US without a lot of creativity.

Oh, hell no. Not even close. Perhaps if it had been more than 10 episodes

My son Was literally just telling me about this season this afternoon- but I/we don’t have a current way to watch it!

Thoughts on last night’s episode?

I’m thinking Jake and Alex will be gone soon. Smart of Soph to use them as her shield.

Fun to have Nate Moore. Not sure how long he will last.

So far, I don’t care for Savannah. I like Jason.

I think the most interesting thing from last night was finding out that 2 contestants got dropped at the last minute for violating the rules. Two people on Yellow were last minute substitutions (were there as alternates.)

At least 2 male tribe members talked about their girlfriends. Mu gaydar must be off. Or the girlfriends live in Canada.

And it’s back! If I had to pick only one show to watch, it would be Survivor.

My son invited me to be part of a Survivor Draft with him and his wife’s family. We made our picks earlier this week. There are 9 of us so 2 picks each - I have MC (Yay!) and Sage. Matt was one of the last 2 picks but dude might actually have some useful skills and brought it physically this week too.

I like the cast of characters. Was sad to see Nicole go first. Somewhat annoyed by Rizo but I’ll give him another chance.

The first team challenge was a good one!

Are there already spoilers about which two are going to be on S50? I was watching and trying to predict.
