Never watched the show. I hear all the media hype and co-workers talk about it.
Anyone else out there never watch it?

Me. Last season I came to terms with the fact that I would never watch it, so I started reading the recaps, so I would know what folks are talking about.
Never
Me. And I don’t even bother reading recaps. When I was home sick from work, I saw two actresses on Good Morning America who play sisters. So, all I know about the show is that there is at least one pair of sisters and “Winter is Coming” (whatever that means).
Too much self-promotion there.
(ha-ha. Okay, wrong thread).
I tried to watch it one time in Season 1…they cut off a horse’s head and, nope, I never went back again.
Better catch up on what “Not today” means!

I started watching second season then caught up and never looked back. It does live up to its hype.
Great production values, tons of interesting characters, fairly interesting story lines (some seasons better than others), lots of surprises, and yes, much gore and sex. But I like big spectacle shows like LOTR and the Marvel movies so it fits into my preferences. I could never watch medical procedurals.
DH has never watched it but is congenial to my enthusiasm. DS hasn’t watched it but is totally conversant due to his interest in popular culture.
Have not watched any of this show.
I didn’t watch for three seasons because the first episode (first scene actually) I finally decided to watch was so gruesome I turned it off immediately. Really just unfortunate timing.
I have never watched it. I had to stop watching the Walking Dead because of the increased violence and my kids told me I would not even make it through the first episode of Game of Thrones.
I’ve never seen it, but I did listen to the first audiobook (30+ hours!) so I would have some idea of what is going on. Contemplating starting the second; not sure I ever will.
H showed me one scene years ago. Gross sex and violence–I was shocked/disgusted. No interest after that.
Watched a couple episodes and it had to much gratuitous violence and violent sex for me. No thanks.
Could barely get through the first episode. Never went back. All the hype around the office and I just say it just didn’t work for me.
I hadn’t for the longest time. I think I started about a year and 1/2 or 2 years ago because I had a free trial of HBO. Now I still have it for free. I could definitely do without the explicit sex scenes - they aren’t necessary. The violence is difficult, but more integral to the plot. Some seasons are better than others. There was a definite decline in the quality of the dialogue once Martin left the writing team and the plot moved beyond the books. But it’s still a very good show. I don’t think it’s hyperbole to say that Sunday’s episode was a masterpiece. I didn’t breathe the entire hour and 1/2.
Never seen it. I don’t do dragons. (except for Harry Potter series. For my kids.)
I thought the internet article “GoT” was about America’s Got Talent.
If you decide to give it a try, watch the first few episodes with someone who can guide you through it. There are so many characters, it is hard to tell them apart, the relationships are complicated, and some people who are barely on the sidelines in the beginning are very important characters later on.
It isn’t a show you can casually watch while you clean the kitchen. Everything is important. Sometimes you don’t find out why it is important for a few seasons.
It surely isn’t for everyone. But then again, neither was Downton Abby. Or Thursday Night Football. Or American Idol.
I watched a couple episodes from season one but after the antler rape scene I couldn’t deal. I was doing ok with bro-sis incest, got pretty quesy with 12-year dragon girl given to the brawny guy as sex toy, but the antlers put me over the top. Nope just nope.
I never had until March partially because I’m not a big fantasy genre fan and partially just because we never had HBO. Then my oldest told me I’d like it and also I wanted to see that Michael Jackson documentary on HBO so I found out we could get HBO go on amazon prime and I started watching it and I quickly became a big fan and have caught up. My hubby tried it when I started but gave up at the first beheading.
Yes, we were holdouts for a LONG time, then binge watched all the seasons before this one over a short period of time.
