DS texted to get the HBO go code. Well, he reached out. I’ll take it.
No interest.
I’ve never watched an episode - I found myself “surprised” that the series is coming to an end…considering its popularity.
Never watched a single episode. Just not a genre I like at all.
Never watched it either…and proud of that fact!
DS has never watched it but he was able to chat quite knowledgeably with me about it late last night. I offered to let him binge watch the last four seasons during his next visit (on the DVR) but he politely declined,
I will say I sort of enjoy reading the various threads, discussions, and speculations about the series. I don’t think I can watch it, or could have watched it, but I enjoy watching GOT-watchers.
Me! Though a lot of my co workers watch it and have been talking about it a lot. My whole Facebook feed Monday mornings is nothing but Game of Thrones!
One of my co workers who doesn’t watch the show said it reminded her of the whole “Who Shot J.R.?” hullabaloo in the 80’s. Can you imagine if there had been social media back when Dallas was on?
I read through a few pages of the GOT thread, and it was very amusing to read all of the comments. People are very serious about the show and their opinions about what had happened, what might happen, or what should have happened. Not having ever seen it, sometimes it seemed like they were talking about other world things as though they were completely normal.
It’s probably similar to how my stepdad felt one time when Mom and I were discussing a soap opera and the antics of the characters. He finally said “who are these crazy people”? He hadn’t realized we were talking about a TV show.
I don’t /have never* watched GOT & I don’t have HBO. (I once saw part of a GOT episode while I was staying at someone else’s home, but the part I saw was so horrifying that I left the living room where it was on and retreated to my guest room). Just not my type of program, and certainly not something that would motivate me to pay for HBO. . Plenty of other stuff for me to watch or binge on with netflix/Amazon prime.
I have no idea why not watching a tv show is a point of pride. It’s surely just a matter of personal preference, correct? Does not watching make one a better person and if so,why?
OP asked a question and people answered it. I made it clear it was a personal preference. I didn’t see anyone here call it a point of pride. If I came on the GOT thread to ask people why they watch it, that would be silly. But equally, why question people discussing why they don’t watch it?
To put it plainly, people who watch it have described many, many scenes that are too horrifying for me. Like, I’d never get over seeing them. That’s me. I don’t fault anyone else who can get past them. I just know myself. I can’t even get the descriptions out of my head. But again, you do you. This is a discussion for why someone might not watch. It has nothing to do with superiority.

That’s all I was referencing, no one else.Sorry if you missed that and took my comment the wrong way. I certainly understand why someone would not like it, no problem at all there.
Okay, fair enough.
Watched one episode and didn’t really interest me. Was the same with Breaking Bad however I pushed through and ended up becoming one of my favorite series ever. I suspect one day giving Game of Thrones another chance
I’ll admit I never watched Dallas either - not even the Who Shot JR episode. My sister watched it all the time. I preferred shows like Hogan’s Heroes or MASH. The vast majority of TV and movies bore me. I’ve been known to fall asleep watching some of each.
I need good, relatively clean, comedy (most episodes of The Big Bang Theory or The Neighborhood) or fun believable action (Timeless was awesome). It’s also fun when the two combine as with Central Intelligence or Jumanji (esp the second version of the latter). Some dramas or crime shows/movies are enjoyable (like Monk, FBI, and The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel).
GOT and tons of violence or other horror never pique my interest - nor due Soap Operas, daytime or night.
I never watched it because I don’t have HBO, and I’m too cheap to pay for it. But I love to be in on everything, and I love popular culture, so I wish I watched the whole darn thing. And maybe one day I will. But not today.
Not today LOL.
I saw one half of an episode at a hotel while traveling… didn’t know what I was watching. Mostly they were standing around staring silently in caves and stony crags, or lone cold Nordic beaches. I realised what it was at the very end when they showed a dragon attacking a small army. Don’t think there were more than 20 words spoken.
@Creekland my parents and H and I are big MASH fans. Only watched one or two episodes of Dallas, mostly to see what all the fuss was about.
