um i think naff’s being a bit harsh,NUS does have a solid world wide rep…

btw sJ3,wat course hv u got at Imperial, coz if money isnt a problem i dont think u shud look beyond london…

Electronics and Electrical eng at imperial…
yea im considering… it costs almost as double as NUS dus…

yeah like 25000 pounds a year, including living…well its a tough decision, but the economy is booming in asia not UK…

did u apply to any univs in the US?

dus anyone kno the procedure for accomodation…
like if u want the A rooms at prince georges residencies…and theres only abt 250…is it reserved r on a first come first serve basis??

only 4…mit cornell upenn and bucknell… kinda stupid…i kno…
wailists from upenn and bucknell

all for E.eng.

accomodation guidelines are in the freshman package…wats special with the rooms in prince georges residencies??

PGP looks more like a ‘condominium’ with private facilities. I quote from the website: “10% of the single rooms (Type A) are air-conditioned, with attached bathrooms, 20% of these are Type B, (single room with washbasin), and remaining 70% are standard Type C rooms”. –> meaning that Type C rooms are the same as other Halls’ rooms where residences have to use shared facilities of toilets (and yes, basins too).

You can look at the PGP floorplans over here: http://www.nus.edu.sg/osa/housing/acc/pgpr_flrplan.html Summary of rates of all avilable on-campus housing is found here: http://www.nus.edu.sg/osa/housing/acc/ug_rates.html

and SJ3, as for whether it is done on first-come-first-served basis, I’m really not sure. Try looking under the list of FAQs or email the OSA (Office of Student Affairs) :)

hey wasup…
u never considered iit since ur indian/???

yeah lol i took the iit exam ofcourse, but u kn i really dont want to go there…if college life in the us is 10 then nus is about a 6…believe me iit is -infinity…lol…ofcourse if i get a good course in a good iit i may go there…however in india NUS is very very highly regarded too…

I am international and i applied to NUS around february/march. When should i expect to hear from them?

well do u hv to send any further results to them??
which country are u from?

i have sent them everything, i am just waiting for their reply. i am from thailand. any idea when they will release decision?

hi anonamous, I had a quick scan through NUS’ website and it says that “If you have submitted a complete application before the application closing date, your application will be processed and you will be informed officially of your application outcome in writing, by post, approximately 8 weeks after the application closing date.”

Since the application closing date for international students is 31st March (as seen here: http://www.nus.edu.sg/oam/apply/catd/instru.htm ), you may get your reply by the end of May I should think.

For more queries you can check out this page: http://www.askadmissions.nus.edu.sg/ for FAQs and even drop them an email enquiry.

Cheers!

no problems, always ready to help whenever possible! :)

and lol… it does need some getting-used-to when navigating around its website…! :D

check ur track… if it says processing app then ull prbably hear from them v soon… else theyr probably waiting for some additional stuff from u…
email oamcsc@nus.edu.sg and ask them if u wanna kno for sure…

yeah do that…email them…sJ3 hv u decided about Imperial yet??

well for we indians … thge outcome of admissions are held till the results for class 12 external examination comes by … and thus moreso making it diffficult for us to choose and play game types… and no email or anything can tell us our status as of now …

Asof others well i have seen a typical response time of around 2-3 working days for the NUS in matters related to the Admission and general or typical case specific queries…
