anyone know about RSAMD?

I am looking for any and all information on auditioning for RSAMD as an american student. It is my dream school! any help appreciated. Anyone successfully completed or gotten into their program??? thanks - TheaterX

How did you hear about it? Where are you studying now? Our son just graduated from RSAMD with a BA in Acting and just got his first paid job at the Tron Theatre in Glasgow.
Check out their website:
[School of Drama](http://www.rsamd.ac.uk/academy/drama/drama.html)

They will be auditioning all over the states…you can email Fiona Barlow FBarlow@rsamd.ac.uk

RSAMD was in New York last year at the same time as the Unifieds. They were also going to be in Chicago and California. I think they follow the same schedule as the Unified Auditions. You can email them for an appointment, but they also took walk ins and you could fill the application out right there. The monologue requirements are on their website.

Hi Guys,

I’m the Student Recruitment Officer at the RSAMD and I’d be very happy to answer any questions you might have.

Please feel free to send any enquiries to Marketing@rsamd.ac.uk

Best wishes,

if you are still interested in RSAMD let me know you can connect with our son who is a third year student there and is home for the Holidays

I have a RSAMD grad or third year at home for the holidays also… one in AZ, TN, MI and AK…let us know!

My son is interested in the MA Classical and Contemporary Text. Any insight you could provide would be appreciated.

My daughter also views RSAMD as her dream school and has had it at the top of her list since she the beginning of her sophomore year. She was orginally interested primarily in the film program but more recently has zeroed in on the BA in Acting. She’ll probably give it her best shot next year in NYC. On the other hand, a year is a long time in the life of a 16 year-old.

Our S went to RSAMD for the classical undergrad training and the 3 year training from the top ranked school in Scotland fit the budget…not as familiar with the Master’s program. He has a work visa and is utilizing his connections. He plans to stay in Scotland for another year. We shall see…

My daughter has just finished her last audition and found out on Friday the she has been accepted at RSAMD. We are still waiting for the results of her other auditions but RSAMD was one of her dream schools and she is terribly excited. We are considering flying over during Spring Break to check things out and I would appreciate any information about the school (good and bad), Glasgow in general and any hurdles we may encounter. I would also like to know if a BA Acting degree from RSAMD would gain her entry into an MFA program in the States should she decide to continue down that road in the future.

Hi dseader,
My daughter also received an acceptance to RSAMD after her Chicago audition. She, however, auditioned for the CPP. It was also her first choice and she is thrilled. Feel free to PM me. She knows students in the CPP and MT, but not in the Acting program.

Hi! My daughter auditioned in Chicago for Musical Theatre and received an email that she is in the Reserved status. Does that mean she is on a waiting list, or still being considered for Musical Theatre? At the auditions we were told that a final decision would not be made until all auditions were done, and I see on the website there are still auditions in Canada at the end of March. Please explain the Reserved status for international students. Thanks :)

Hi,
I believe you will find the information in the Undergraduate Guide for Applicants, which is on the RSAMD website.
Scroll down to the bottom.

Hi suzukischool,
My post was an answer to crazybizness’s query about the meaning of “Reserved Status”.
Check her post - her daughter has already auditioned for MT.

thanks oldviola! I did check the website and it does sound like a “waiting list” type of status. However, at the audition, they told us that you would either receive a declined, maybe, or definetly maybe! And that final decisions for Musical Theatre would not be made until all auditions were finished. That’s why I’m wondering if it has a different meaning for international (vs UK) students. I think you and I may have been talking together at the Chicago auditions! I don’t know how to private message or I would go into detail! Thanks for responding!

Our son who is a graduating third year student was on the “waitlist” for the BA Acting program at RSAMD. He didn’t get a call from RSAMD until July 3rd. So we lost the deposit at Roosevelt (CCCP) and started the process to attend RSAMD. I would stay in regular contact with the folks at RSAMD as a spot will not open up unless someone drops out. RSAMD is the best decision he has made. He has signed with a very reputable and well know London agent after his showcase in London (reps in Hollywood too) but he will work in London for at least 2 years.

Thanks! and congrats to your son! My daughter heard from another friend that also auditioned in Chicago in February, and she was accepted. We still have not heard anything. I will email to check her status. She does have some other good options so it will be difficult if they contact her after May 1st.
